I agree that playing with people that are better than you is the best training! I found a group of elderly pickleball players who were much better than me when I started playing pickleball. If you can find that group near you, play with them! They're fun, and VERY encouraging!! They're good, but they're mostly happy to just be out getting some excersize so they're more happy to see you progress than win.
