There is no such thing as a professional firefighter. To be a profession you must have an over seeing body over you. For example a RN has a college of nurses over them. Doctors have College of Physicians over them. These are professions. Fighting is not a profession. Just paid verses volunteer. Union verses non union firefighters. No matter what you are you must be NFPA certified. The training is all the same,
I'm a retired career firefighter paramedic from MCFRS and I worked at station 12 in Hillendale. Worked very well with the volunteers in that station.

That's not true. The definition of "professional" is "having a particular profession as a permanent career."
