That reminds me of something funny- XD I have an iPad that I have used for around 3 years, and it’s still in pretty great shape. I am very overprotective of it. I never carry it in moderate to heavy rain, unless I’m forced to. Even in a small drizzle, I hide it under my shirt/jacket. Recently, I saw my sister using it (When I gave it to her) and I saw her legitly carrying it in her mouth like a dog infront of me, just to scare me and pretend she was gonna drop it. Thankfully it didn’t drop. Because let’s just say it nearly fell. ._.
Its possible that one of the reasons why this phone failed was due to its size and shape. The phone is quite large and longer than most standard phones. This creates a much greater leverage when completed the same test, which could cause more pressure and ultimately crack the phone. Im still looking for a good case for mine
Nah. My Nokia XR20 is an absolute behemoth and may as well be a solid block of aluminum, it's almost impossible to bend or twist at all. Granted that's not exactly an apples to apples comparison (cuz, ya know, it's a rugged phone) but it does demonstrate that building a gigantic smartphone that can survive the very real threat of being sat on is very doable.

@GeeKIller As an avid gamer. I own blackshark 2, its probably one of the most rigid and strong phone structure wise. Legion 2 and ROG 5, i think made to be replaced sooner. I mean i can see ROG 3, Blackshark 2 with much more future proof(structure wise and durability wise). Im actually want to buy new phone, only recently looks into market but it seems everywhere got problem(for gaming phone) Nubia got Software issue, ROG Legion got questionable Durability, and Blackshark 4 got fckng Punch-hole camera and none of these phone got alu/steel back(i think its needed for easier cooling using cooling blackshark). At this point i can only look at Iphone, aside their price and im entirely new, their software optimization is probably one of the top for gaming..

Hey Jerry could the failure be due to the internal structure of the phone where the CPU is in the middle (assuming landscape position) at the point of where you were bending it at? Perhaps a key circuit was affected? I figured that's why this phone totally failed after the bending. For those who don't know I believe the unique CPU layout was designed this way to dissipate heat better and to also cater for the two batteries that are split on the left add right side of the phone (assuming landscape position). Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Would love to know.
Yeah true and also another reason is that, the battery is split for 3000mah each coz a single 6000mah on a snapdragon 888 or 888+ can cause a blast while charging with a fast charger.....overall Asus Rog team did a great work for the design , performance , battery and cooling but forgot about durability
@Aniket Kolte nah 1+ have gone south. other brands can do similar to what 1+ would've done but better. 1+ selling point was cheap but good specs and with "cheap" out of that, theres nothing special with 1+. 1 thought 8 and 9 would be good, but i was disappointed way more than im expecting.

Unfortunately, with the very first bend we see some pretty major cracking on the antenna line near the bottom half of the phone. And that small crack, for some reason, has catastrophically affected the internal vibrator, which now sounds more like a hissing cat than anything else. With another bend from the front we lose the entire screen at that same weak point: the antenna line. The Victus glass on the front is still intact, it's just the display under the glass that has given up the ghost. One billion colors are gone in an instant. This of course is not an ideal situation. A phone without a screen is just like a car without tires. Finally, we'll flip the phone to the back and try one more time.
@@andoletube It's 100% a real world test. Phones bend in pockets. If it explodes in the bend test, I don't want it in my pocket and have to deal with it breaking from bending. Will it bend enough to shatter? No. Will it bend enough to cause motherboard damage and break the phone? Absolutely. I shouldn't have to baby my phone, it should be able to survive a pocket.

@@popeyyeee Not only the battery but also how the PCB has been designed. The rog3 had extra sturdyness from battery, screen, backplate, PCB and so on. While the Rog5 has a more split design, they did it to apparently fight thermals, it doesn't stop the phone from throttling tho.

Hey Jerry could the failure be due to the internal structure of the phone where the CPU is in the middle (assuming landscape position) at the point of where you were bending it at? Perhaps a key circuit was affected?
I figured that's why this phone totally failed after the bending. For those who don't know I believe the unique CPU layout was designed this way to dissipate heat better and to also cater for the two batteries that are split on the left add right side of the phone (assuming landscape position).
Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Would love to know.
Yeah true and also another reason is that, the battery is split for 3000mah each coz a single 6000mah on a snapdragon 888 or 888+ can cause a blast while charging with a fast charger.....overall Asus Rog team did a great work for the design , performance , battery and cooling but forgot about durability

@Aniket Kolte nah 1+ have gone south. other brands can do similar to what 1+ would've done but better. 1+ selling point was cheap but good specs and with "cheap" out of that, theres nothing special with 1+. 1 thought 8 and 9 would be good, but i was disappointed way more than im expecting.

Unfortunately, with the very first bend we see some pretty major cracking on the antenna line near the bottom half of the phone. And that small crack, for some reason, has catastrophically affected the internal vibrator, which now sounds more like a hissing cat than anything else. With another bend from the front we lose the entire screen at that same weak point: the antenna line. The Victus glass on the front is still intact, it's just the display under the glass that has given up the ghost. One billion colors are gone in an instant. This of course is not an ideal situation. A phone without a screen is just like a car without tires. Finally, we'll flip the phone to the back and try one more time.

Will it bend enough to shatter? No. Will it bend enough to cause motherboard damage and break the phone? Absolutely. I shouldn't have to baby my phone, it should be able to survive a pocket.

@@popeyyeee Not only the battery but also how the PCB has been designed. The rog3 had extra sturdyness from battery, screen, backplate, PCB and so on. While the Rog5 has a more split design, they did it to apparently fight thermals, it doesn't stop the phone from throttling tho.
