Janet seems very timid and completely non-sensationalist, to me she doesn't seem like a woman who faked stuff to get attention, she looks like a woman who has been damaged by a real trauma that she went through and doesn't really enjoy talking about it.

Looking on the documentaries it never seemed as though any of the family got off on it, Janet's Mum seemed a quiet and very matter of fact lady with no desire create any hysteria. I noticed the lights on the stage set flickering during this interview with Janet and wondered if the spirit was still following her!!

My mum has always been a magnet for paranormal stuff especially after the passing of all my grandparents and again she is someone who doesn't sensationalise any of it so I think that is part what I see in Janet, also my dad is kind of a skeptic and even he is running out of explanations for the weird things that go on in my parents home, such as something pinging across the room one day while they were both at the dining table. My Mum found a button on the floor and it was an RAF button from the blazer my Grandad had been buried in a few months earlier! One of their dogs has major issues at night of being terrified, panting and wanting to get out the house. I am very open minded about the unknown.

aidsbrigade Im a guy who doesnt simply "believe" things, especially not paranormal things. But saying something like "there is NO chance" is plain stupid and even arrogant. There is a 99% chance its fake, but not 100%. Water is 100% fluid, grass is 100% green. But you can not say to 100% that there is nothing (or something in that matter) after death. Nobody ever came back after definitely dying so the only thing you can say to 100% certainty is that YOU DONT KNOW. You dont know if God or gods exist, you dont know if spirits or life in general exists outside our dimension. You dont know if alien life exist inside our universe. If you are going to say you are to 99.99% sure, then thats fine. But please dont have the ignorance and arrogance to claim that you have the omniscience to know that there is NO chance something unusual happened. Maybe you are right. Maybe you are wrong. Thats it.

100% agreed very very disrespectful. Notice how Janet doent try to intervene to tell that lady what she think. I say this because Jannet is not putting herself out there on social media trying to prove to people what happened to her. A person who has gone through something like that doesn't have to convince because deep down in her heart she knows what she went through and she shouldn't even have to argue with anyone what she experienced. Same goes for the rest of the family and friends who were there.

Agreed! When you have a guest like Janet, who has for the most part tried to hide her identity for privacy as an adult, I think it was unprofessional to have a skeptic like that as a guest at the same time. What they should've done was have the skeptic on AFTER Janet to discuss this story or on a completely different episode to discuss this story. They should've focused the interview on Janet and no one else mostly to get the most out of the rare chance to interview her.
I think it was disrespectful to have a skeptic there because of that, and it's just going to discourage her from giving other interviews about this case.

I have been dealing with the dead since I could remember(literally when still in diapers) I'm turning 43 this month. People like this skeptic is the reason I was terrified to tell anyone when I was a kid. Around 13/14 my sensitivities kicked into high gear and I started telling people. My 2 teenagers have also dealt with them since they were babies. Except I have always spoken VERY openly and non judgmental about spirits with them. Ive also helped many other children and adults deal because its scarey and there are con artists out there. Ive never charged a penny for helping them if they are gifted or have a haunting etc. I never will.
Sorry got a bit off topic there :)

    • @amystone4684
      @amystone4684 5 лет назад

@aidsbrigade could be a number of things. Bill is a common name :) "Evil" ghosts tend to lie. They frequently pretend to be other people to try and gain trust in the living. Especially with children. I have personally seen and have audio recordings(I'm a sensitive) of spirit that appear to be children when playing with children or show themselves as kids to someone who is a mother because many mothers would want to help a child(even if deceased) that needs help or is sad etc.
Perhaps "Bill" used that name and info because there was a link to someone there? I wish I could speak to Janet one day! Troublesome spirits can do some very bizzare things if it suits them. Especially during an attachment. I do believe Janet was/is a sensitive though. Kids that dont know how to control their gifts can actually create a true poltergiest situation. Unfortunately "poltergiest" has always been a dead person who messes with the living. When in reality, its the human(often combined with spirit) creates those strong energies and that create moving things, stress, voices, flying objects, lights flickering etc.

When you produce sufficient evidence, we will believe. We are open minded but also rational and all the so called ‘evidence’ for this case is questionable at best. Especially as the voice about bill’s death details is wrong as I’ve mentioned before. Lots of eye witness accounts, which as everybody knows is not credible in the slightest. People are just superstitious and believe what they want to believe. Not one of the photos proves anything. Even the so called levitation photos can be reproduced by a child jumping out of bed.

I'm more inclined to believe that The Amittyvile case to be more of a hoax than the Enfield one. With regards to Amittyvile, the Lutz family knew the tragic history of the house, with Defoe killing his family, it's possible to make up a story about the house being haunted on that bases to make money, which they did with the Jay Aston book and the pathetic films, but I believe this family didn't make any money out of it. It was out of the girls control that the press were involved, though in some cases it was blatantly obvious that the girls were doing some of it, either for attention or to keep it going, they got caught faking it, besides, the girls admitted it more than once that they did, this discredits the actual genuine events that the girls may have been copying. I still remain doubtful of the voice coming from Janet though. It seems clear that Janet has gone through some distress, but the other sister may not have been quite so effected.

This woman is a prime example of "skepticism" at it's worst. Although she has no real evidence that they've faked anything, she immediately puts them on the defensive with accusations to throw them off guard. Instead of getting to the meat of the topic, she has them defending their integrity. It is a prototypical technique used by debunkers and one of the primary reason people have little respect for them. Note that she brings up two cases where the debunkers themselves were caught out in lies - Amittyville and the Fox sisters. She doesn't appear to be bright enough to have realized her mistake. Debunkers are most vicious when the evidence is good, they throw out lies, engage in character assassination, and try to humiliate people into silence.

    • @jordanjohnson5549

This is what is called Psuedo-Skepticism, in other words these people aren't real Sceptics at all. They have an entrenched belief system and address the points that are the easiest to address and fail to even mention the things that are harder to explain away. Joe Nickell another Psuedo-Skeptic wrote about the case and stated that a police woman saw a chair merely shake when in reality the police officer saw the chair levitate and move four feet across the room. Deborah even inadvertantly made herself appear foolish to those who have read into the case by mentioning names such as Barrington with having 'problems' with the case when in reality Barrington thought there was considerable evidence for strange inexplicable occurences. She just encited random names that were involved in the case to backup her false claims.

This is interesting. When you watch footage of the house and girls from the time the poltergeist was taking place Janet and her sister seem almost giddy about the whole thing, or at least not particularly disturbed with one of them claiming they've "gotten used to it" over time. But here we have Janet decades later and she seems sincerely traumatized by the whole event. The scarcity of interviews and lack of capitalization of the story (i.e. sensationalist books) at least, for me, lends a lot more credibility to this whole thing. In any case something definitely happened beyond their control in that house.

I know that many people dont understand it, its like anything really. A mental illness can only be assumed by someone who hasnt experienced its severity, Its called having a small mind. We should be glad, we have been enlightened. People can go out and experience sky diving, eating from 3 star restaurants riding camels in the dessert, swimming with sharks, an overdose on drugs, sex with countless people and they will still not understand what its like to have seen something like this. Those examples were a bit extreme but I hope you can understand what I mean. Though I dont broadcast what ive seen anymore because people laugh at it I like to hear the stories of others.

I am NOT a skeptic, but a believer in the paranormal. I'm also a realist. I've been watching all of the information and documentaries and interviews with these figures, Janet, Fairplay, the photographers, and their stories change. Not moderately, but significantly. Fairplay says in the documentary he was introduced to the case by a man who'd gone to hear him lecture who asked his help. In this interview, Fairplay says he saw one of the investigators giving an interview on the local news and didn't want to miss the opportunity. To compound that, with regard to Janet appearing on the dresser, the photographer states in the documentary that Janet had been heavily sedated "Enough to knock out an elephant" but fought and battled them so hard it too multiple adults to restrain her in bed even still, and upon leaving the room they turned to find her atop the dresser. In another interview with Miss Goldman, he doesn't mention her being sedated at all and claims they head no footsteps or floorboard creaks and went upstairs on a routine check and found her on the dresser. It isn't difficult to remember facts of such extraordinary occurrence, but these parties seem to misremember or rewrite far to much for me to be comfortable with their recollections.

Sounds like most of the witnesses were influenced by an array of different information and misinformation, which affected their perception and understanding of the events they witnessed... the misinformation held by the witnesses, is especially responsible for polluting and tainting the witness perceptions and recollections of the events! Which basically makes it extremely difficult (if not impossible) to determine the what side of each story is real and valid! Total bummer! But it’s still really neat to hear the victim speak of her experiences, cuz experiences aren’t about fact, it’s what she felt and saw and heard, what she experienced, regardless of what witnesses did or didn’t see/understand/believe... and although many people may lie about this sort of thing, I really think Janet is being honest!

I absolutely believe what happened to this family, as a child back in the late 70s we had a poltergeist in our house that tormented us for years , things would be thrown around , doors slamming, my bed would shake violently and I was even thrown down the stairs, so much happened there's too much to mention. Needless to say my parents eventually sold the house after years of suffering.
After moving to a new built house all the negativity ceased but did get visitations that were comforting.
I have had spirits around me all my life and strange occurrences In all three houses my wife and myself have owned but nothing really negative like my parents first house. watching the series of the Enfield poltergeist bought back a few memories I would rather forget, what his woman and her family went through as a child was much worse than what we went through and can imagine how this has affected her life.
Me, I'm always expecting something to happen when I enter a room on my own even now.

Listen.. with all do respect to all parties of this conversation. Simply put.. if you're a skeptic you HAVE TO go out there and prove to yourself nothing weird is going on. Put in the effort..at-least 30 days/nights in a haunted house, such as the Amityville or conjuring house or else you're not worth listening to on national television. You're just judging a obviously, far-fetched story from a distance, you're not the one spending great parts of your life investigating murder houses trying to gather proof of the most mysterious phenomena known to man-kind. I'd take great offense if a skeptic was NOT there with me to experience these things, just judging the story after not even putting in an effort to find the real, truth.

If something traumatic happens you will remember it down to the last detail. For example if you saw a 70(ish) year old man with long grey hair, crawling across the road without a shirt or shoes on wearing light brown homemade pants while driving on a one lane country road, you are about to ask him if he needs help he looks up into your car window with black eyes and says nothing..you will remember that. I don't agree with the "not remembering" I often hear when it comes to these kinds of answers given to people who have had an encounter of some type.

"Long-term" memory involves hard-wiring of pathways in the brain based on real experiences. Replaying the events through those pathways may in fact consolidate the recollection. Suggestion, however powerful, eventually fades and becomes an incoherent jumble of facts because it does not involve such pathways.

Many agree now that Maurice Grosse and Guy Playfair, whilst being very caring and sensitive, went into the case looking for answers to their own beliefs. Confirmation bias was definitely there. I just watched the original television interview special (30+ minutes). The camera set up wasn't a video camera or continuous but a still photo cam set to take pictures at intervals. I believe it was set only for motion like a wildlife camera in the girls bedroom. Also, watching the original interview with the girls, Janet can be seen taking an intake of breath as the voice continues constant. I have yet to see a ventriloquist ever be able to do that. Both girls are able to talk over the voice as well. I've (my family ) used to experience low level paranormal activity. When we were going through buying our house from having rented it for years, it was a slightly stressful time for my parents and we used to hear heavy footsteps going up and down the hall. We used to joke it was my mom's deceased father making sure we were okay and assuring us we were doing the right thing going through with the mortgage. After the paperwork was done, no more footsteps. My sister and I once woke at the same time to see a green mist humanoid shaped apparition, see through and about 3 1/2 feet tall with a large head standing by our gerbil cage inspecting them. Just watching, and we watched it until it disappeared and we went back to sleep. Didn't know we were both awake and saw the same thing till the next morning. My sister was like 12 and I was about 10. Once we caught a tiny flash of light in a dark room on my old video camera I used to mess with, so we turned the lights on and looked for a possible source but found none. I may have been older than 15, maybe 17. I think I'll look to see if I still have that video. Hope I didn't record over it. Other slightly weird stuff, minor things, none of which ever scared us. But I've never been afraid of "scary" movies.
So I have no reason to think this family didn't go through something paranormal and traumatic.

In the spoof, Sarah green was trapped in the basement in the end. Woke up early to see if Sarah green would appear on Saturday live.

Im an absolute sceptic, but there do seem to be eye witnesses including the police. Fascinating.

please watch the bbc interview with the 2 girls, they both slip up, when asked whats it like to live in a haunted house, janet says its NOT really haunted, her older sister smiles and says shut up janet, she then does the ghost voice and tells a knock knock joke, its so obviously fake its almost embarrissing , i am not saying its all fake but the voice is without doubt a hoax, so the question is how much of the rest of the story is hoax ? the police statement is very intreasting as both police officers see the chair move and conduct tests to make sure there is no trickery involved ?

I have a niece. When she was in her preteens, just about Janet's age... her voice was changing. Just for fun or out of habit... she would periodically talk with this deep, low tone raspy voice-- quite similar to the voice of this poltergeist. So, the whole claim that a young girl couldnt possibly make those sounds is just rubbish. Secondly... am I to believe that a dead person who finds themselves miraculously rejoined with the living-- a feat so rare, it must be as shocking to them as it is to us... decides to use this fleeing opportunity to pull-off a few juvenal pranks? Throwing Legos, flipping chairs, telling half-baked 'knock-knock' jokes and banging on walls? The whole thing sounds like a trivial waste. It would be like Aliens finally visiting Planet Earth-- only to spend their time working the weekend shift at Petco.

Just joking. There is nothing about you that concerns me.
If name calling and insinuations were a game show; you'd win hands down.
However, when it comes to this case.....nah!

Okay - actually her accent and speech are pretty much nondescript for an English woman, there is nothing weird there.
