I can help you pronounce Għawdex! I've been learning Maltese for 11 months so this, firstly, this is the Maltese word for Gozo btw. It's pronounced like "Ow-desh" basically. The "għ" is silent here. And the "x" is a "sh" sound :) I'm hoping that with such a strong lineup of songs for this contest that MESC will give us a really strong one too as they had a MESC songwriting camp and many of these songs came from that (and I'm sure many more will be at the adult contest). I like Grrlz too like most people, btw, but my winner is from Anneka (Trying to Be Me [Ħeqq Le]) which sounds exactly like my type of music (and has my personal dream songwriting team on it - Micimago [Michael Joe Cini] who co-wrote Loop and Dance [Our Own Party] and Dav & JP [from The Busker]). So happy that you're super into it too!!
I would love to see a full Maltese song make it into JESC this year but I also love Daylin's song so much and think there's a strong showing overall! Way better NF than last year 😊 Top 5 for me in order but subject to change with lives: Stilla Ckejkna (Ramires' range is amazing and his emotional interpretation just captivated me... plus, Maltese. I don't have a full translation at this point but the title means little star) Ghawdex (oh man, I feel like Maria was so close in years past and this could very well be her year with such a solid song... also, Maltese) Bona Fide (it's just so catchy, I just can't get it out of my head) Above it All (sure maybe it sounds familiar but I love songs in this style) Gold (she was in the 2022 NF but can't remember what her song was then, this is clearly a much better song)
I honestly don’t understand the hype about Shaz, no hate but I find the song average (I didn’t even noticed that at first) and her voice sounds a bit annoying to me
I think Anneka and Grrlz are the best choices because they are so Eurovision Junior
