Can’t believe I fiiiiinally got to speak to him about TR! While I’d have loved to bombard him with questions about the future, it was made clear those questions wouldn’t be answered here, but by CD in their own time.
@DarioDarrow. I completely agree with you I am a big fan of the classic tomb raider games I have them all but I do also have the tomb raider survivor trilogy I really hope for a tomb raider 4&5 remastered 😊
I would love to see those remastered too I have to admit that I currently don't have the patience to deal with the gameplay of AOD but I am so intrigued and excited to experience the story and lore But every single time I try I just can't be bothered leaving the starter area, which is sad cause I love Tomb Raider so much
@@PedroRizziMaciel I didn't really like AoD for so so many years. but using the PC patch I finally made it out of Paris and the rest of the game is now one of my favourites 😆
@@nikkimckay860 Well he did say they are trying to make things to please all fans. So maybe there will be more classic era for OG fans and Survivor things for later fans too. We've kinda seen this with the two statues. I still can't belive we got Konrads Lara in the remasters...it could have gone so horribly wrong if it wasn't fans working for Saber 😅
It’s great that Dallas is so passionate about the Survivor Trilogy but I like Classic Lara’s origin story better. I don’t really care for Richard Croft.
@@Raidercast Yeah and, honestly, Richard Croft doesn’t seem like that great of a dad but I love the puzzle aspects of the game too and I’m glad to hear that Dallas is so passionate about it.
I think he enjoys that they were trying to take the cinematic aspect of what CD were trying to specifically about the Survivor era and wants to marry that up with the more exploration and puzzle solving aspects of the classic games. When he introduced himself back in 2020 (feels like an age ago) he made a point of how he and his team (the new managers etc) love classic TR. He seems to understand the assignment and I’m really happy about that.
Man, what a breath of fresh air this interview was. That’s all I wanted to hear from the developers and it is even more powerful when it came from Dallas himself. Loved the personal stuff (really interesting getting to know the man behind TR) and when it came to the franchise, it was great to see him referencing all games, all timelines, the differences from each era and he even answered stuff that you did not really asked, as he knew it was what people wanted to know. What really impressed me was that he deliberately brought up that some fans think they don’t like classic Lara but that’s not the case at all. I truly believe that they somehow listen to us fans and want the best for the franchise as much as we all want! Overall great interview and it’s safe to say that I am more confident than ever! We need more of this connection with the fans! 👏 Great job Chris!
The one thing I don't agree with is that all these Survivor games are a bridge towards classic Lara. It's been 10 years and the marketing is still "Lara is on the road to becoming the Tomb Raider we all want." I'm starting to lose hope that they ever will have Lara be the witty English gal we all know. Not unless it passes to a new developer.
Yeah, when he launched into the notion of this “becoming” arc again I shouted at my phone, “that’s not how that works!!” Having observed friends and family in my own life and now working as a teacher for many years, things like sass, wit and humor are core personality traits. People who exhibit those as adults also do as their younger selves. Of course we all grow and change in some ways as we get older, but the idea that a meek person will completely transform their character into a badass is a ridiculous Hollywood trope.
Very well said. They failed Lara so bad and I dont think theres anything they can do to fix it. Another developer will have to do a complete reboot AGAIN and retcon everything that CD has done to Lara @@tyler-kristofr
Oh what a guest you got there! This is a really nice surprise, and it makes me quite hopeful about the future. Sure I won't get all I want in the next game but hopefully enough to satisfy me. Also it was so unusual to hear Dallas say Classic, LAU and Survivor, because I'm so used to people (even journalists, who should know better) forgetting that LAU exists and lumping it with Classics. And I can't forget to mention - his fave non-Lara character is Kurtis! I wonder if it in any way sways the hopes in our favour when it comes to an AoD remaster or anything else official AoD related :) Thank you for the episode, Chris!
In the past I've had concerns about CD not appreciating the original core games. This video has squashed those doubts, he's so passionate about the franchise and its heart warming to see.
Great interview! So cool to hear of the "No Lara left behind" incentive. I love how each series has a slightly different Lara, it adds so much to the unique feel of each trilogy. One thing I've been noticing during your "First Time TR4" vids is how much I appreciate the quiet, contemplative exploration in the classics, too. It's sometimes so relaxing+soothing to just exist in those worlds. Far out, just imagine an AOD remaster - maybe completing it to match Core's original vision with cut content and such. Haha I'm all jazzed up on love for TR now. Thanks for the great clip.
Awesome that you got the chance to talk to Dallas Chris! I always appreciate hearing the man speak about Tomb Raider and getting a hint of what's going on behind the scenes at Crystal (lifting the curtain for at least a little bit). Thanks so much.
Good interview, thanks. I don't care much about the survivor trilogy, but that just might be my nostalgia towards the original games speaking. And I would've loved to hear Dallas' definition of "cinematic storytelling", because I'd much rather play a good game than have a cinematic storytelling experience, if that just means endless cutscenes and quick time events.
Its not just nostalgia. Its the fact that they took away something unique and amazing from the fans and completely changed it. Nobody wanted the Survivor series. TR was already cinematic to begin with. It was all handed to CD on a silver platter and they threw it in the trash. But, it seems like they know now they need to fix it, so Im excited for whats coming in the future.
@@jovanjonck The survivor trilogy was hugely successful and outside of hardcore TR fans, they are much more liked than the original games. TR adapted itself and thank god it did, or we might not still be getting TR games and media today.
@@madmandonna1This is a shill take. The survivor trilogy might have got more copies around because they literally gave it away for free multiple times (I have all three games on my Epic account without paying a cent). PS plus gave it away, Xbox gave it away... And the paid version was constantly heavily discounted. And now they're making money with the remasters (which, admittedly, are very well done). I don't think that going further down the road of "modernizing" (i.e. defeminizing) the character will be sustainable in the medium/long run. Ubisoft's fate is there for all to see.
As someone who was introduced to Tomb Raider with the 2013 game but whose first game was Underworld, it was nice to hear this. I love all the versions of the character probably because I was introduced to them at once. I think people can be a little harsh sometimes because I can tell that they are actively trying to bring Lara to her original version while still respecting the Survivor Trilogy. Like it or not, there have been many fans who came into the franchise with it and the fact that they are trying to listen to the fanbase and honor her history is a good thing. Hopefully they are successful.
Underworld lara is different from the 1-6 lara just fyi ahaha Classic (1-6) Legend (1-TOO) Survivor (2013-LOLC) but yea lets hope they can combine THREE different versions of the character and not just combine classic and survivor and leave out legend fans.
I get we have to be neutral as a fanbase but I wish Crystal were pushed more on some of the decisions they’ve made- like clarifying their suggestive “non tomb raiding collabs”
YES! that's what I love about Lara! All eras, she never gave up. And when she was more confident, she is the smartest person in the room, she's stronger and more athletic than most people and if she does hit a low point, or someone gets the upper hand, she always finds a way out and gets that upper hand back. That's the power fantasy of Lara Croft. Also glad to hear that the people who worked on survivor don't actually hate the classics. I get so tired of hearing that talking point. This was refreshing. I wish AOD could get finished someday though. I know it probably won't happen but I can dream.
Congrats on the interview, very informative and revealing. I can imagine that it took proper will power to stay within the terms of the interview and keep the question of all questions - whether they are already remastering 4/5/6 - off the table :)
I obviously love Tomb Raider, but I also adore Star Wars: The Old Republic too and I had no idea he was part of making that happen! I really should thank him for so much for all the great times I've had.
This was a great watch, thanks Chris for your passion and love of the series! Dallas seems like such a fan im glad he has such a hand in what is to come.
I wish someone asked a guy that high up at Crystal Dynamics why the studio is so opposed to returning Lara's design to her sex symbol roots. All they do is desexualizing her more and more. We cant even have the OG's serving cvnt anymore😭
Underworld DLC for PC, please! Its been long enough. Tell the person in charge that console exclusive DLCs is the worst thing ever and it should be a crime.
Great interview! I’m wishing Kurtis will be in the next game. It made me so happy what he said at the end about honoring all Lara’s and all eras. That made me so happy to hear after so many years of feeling like they were ignoring what came before. They really are creating a TR universe where everything that came before is relevant and honored.
So much respect for the survivor era lovers but that wasn’t for me. My Lara is the original. The survivor Lara seems like another person with the same name. I LOVED the unified version that’s been floating around the internet and I feel my Lara is coming back again!
I feel exactly the same! After playing the Classic Remaster, I was reminded why I became resentful toward Survivor. Literally not even close to a real TR game. They shouldve just made a brand new IP out of their Survivor ideas to challenge the Uncharted series and developed a separate TR game that kept the fundemantals of the OG and LAU games. Hoping there will be a return to form🤞
I've been playing since the first game, on the original Playstation (no number, it was the only one!). The franchise almost lost me at TR: Anniversary because I couldn't clear the goddamn T Rex battle...I may be middle aged but my reflexes aren't THAT bad! Could never get the Adrenaline Dodge to trigger on cue, and that was the keystone of the whole damn battle. The franchise got me back with Underworld, but then lost me for good when Lara started channeling Katniss Everdeen.
Had the same issue on PS2/PS3 with the T Rex, mostly the dodge button didn’t seem to work at all, or seldom. So I just jumped around and shot it to death. But even more frustration with the 2 Atlantean centaurs / Tomb of Tihocan. It appears to be a glitch as it freezes the centaur, when you get the first shield. I gave up playing Anniversary for months, then eventually returned to grind away and finally it all sequenced. Still love the game and atmosphere.
Its funny that they felt the need to explain why Lara is so confident by traumatizing her in the Survivor series. I guess women arent allowed to be born with confidence? Instead, it needs to be some sort of scar from the past. Some people may like that angle, but its a lazy and outdated Hollywood stereotype.
An excellent interview Chris. My only additional question would have been "If the new game is completed and you discover that the developers killed off Lara without telling you about it, what would you do? Stand pat or hold the game up until the ending is fixed?" 😂
I love how all his favourite moments are from the classic Tomb Raider era but he still did not really fix everything that CD messed up so far. That is ironic
Interesting how opinions differ and how taste differ - I never liked the darker, more gruesome feel of the 2013 TR reboot, it was so different to the previous games I played that it put me off immediately and I left the game unfinished. Even to this day I would much rather play Legend or Underworld or the TR1-3 reboots again rather than to try and finish any of the Survivor Trilogy games. The nice thing about Lara and TR is that they are digitally created - meaning that they can be endlessly re-imagined. Neither exist - they are as fictional as Darth Vader or Charlie Brown, meaning that Lara can be whatever you want her to be. If I decide that the Lara running up and down the manor in Anniversary is my forever-image of a quintessential Lara for all times then that is my right to do so. Interesting chat and greetings from South Africa!
I’m relieved that he seems to have a comprehensive knowledge of the series, but concerned about his final answer about no Lara left behind. Sounds like, despite him saying things to the contrary, they are indeed hoping to please everyone. That, or they need some justification for keeping certain elements of the Survivor trilogy. The survivor games were good, but they unfortunately weren’t Tomb Raider.
Dallas is very well media trained, but I honestly don’t see how survivor Lara will ever become classic Lara. I believe that Core design and Eidos weren't trying to be woke, they wanted Lara to be an extraordinary female character. The classic Tomb Raider games didn't start out trying to have a message. They wanted you to get involved in the character and the gameplay and the world, and I think that's still the heart of Tomb Raider. You don't have to exclude agendas, but you have to first create characters who you sympathize with and who are compelling. I think Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics need to do a course correction a bit in terms of putting the message secondary, behind entertainment and compelling story and engaging characters. People play games to scape reality. The reboot trilogy got stale pretty quick and I’m so tired of the daddy and mommy issues. Lara only played for sport and she’s an antihero, I don’t give a crap about the seeker of truth or the relic protector thing.
Great video and insight. So he has background of film and theatre which makes sense why he’s very much pushing cinematic storytelling constantly, sure classic tomb raider had fmv’s and moments like the dinosaur which felt cinematic at the time but the thing is, the fmv’s were few and dispersed used sparingly as a reward to finishing the long well designed intricate levels and the moments like the dinosaur felt cinematic was because it was also used sparingly and you were in full control of the fight at all times which worked greatly, what doesn’t work is since LAU and Survivor era is the cinematics taking over the actual gameplay portion for example being constantly interrupted by cutscenes every 10 steps for a scene to play or for Lara to be forced to slowly walk. The original tomb raider games were very quiet about 85-90% of the time while exploring,it was very atmospheric like bioshock or silent hill where the world/levels is a character on its own. The only action packed/cinematic part was the enemies and fmv’s. So for the next game if he can separate cinematic storytelling from the gameplay or at least have the gameplay look cinematic without taking away control of Lara that would be great. Because full control of Lara’s every action is VERY important to what makes tomb raider. The gameplay should have Lara interact with every surface like in the classics, even like games like Zelda botw and assassins creed your character can interact with every surface, just fine tune it to Lara’s acrobatics and done..Lara needs pick ups like keys, weapons, health management..maybe she can build traps for enemies, all real time tho,you set a boulder trap and watch it flatten the enemy real time…bring back Lara’s classic tutor style country house mansion..bring back level editor but modern make it online so people can share their tombs with the option of multiplayer or single player… if any of these things were in the next tomb raider game Im all in, but not looking promising when the only thing Dallas apparently liked about the classic games was the music.. I loved the music but as the head of all things tomb raider and just liking the music for the classics? Classic Lara’s movement at the time and still is ahead of its time the way you can control every movement she makes (walk slowly, side steps, sprint, different types of flips, overhead monkey bars,push/pull,pickup,hold flare, crouch roll later on,the water movements like rolling in water to turn quicker all the different types of interactivity with other objects and surfaces in the game, compare those classic movements of Lara to super Mario 64 where all Mario did was jump around mostly then compare it to something more modern like uncharted or modern Lara where all they do is jump around still with a possible roll and auto grab , its either run or don’t run or be forced controlled to walk slow when you don’t want to..if they can modernize classic Lara’s movement that would be amazing and by modernize I don’t mean remove or make unrecognizable like the way her flips were removed in the modern controls for the remastered trilogy. A modern game where you have such control over all these ways you move and interact in the game world would be refreshing and nostalgic for classic fans and innovative and new for newcomers since game characters nowadays in general just don’t have anywhere close to the variety and complexity of classic Lara’s moveset/interactivity Instead of taking inspiration from movies and having that be front and center ,perhaps more inspiration from games like classic tomb raider, Zelda Botw(puzzles/gameplay/character interacting with all surfaces/general interactivity with the world), assassins Creed(just for the character interacting with all surfaces), bioshock(for level design and atmosphere), resident evil(atmosphere, puzzles, inventory management), just cause(for real time traps and environment destruction), farcry 5(easy to use level editor for single and multiplayer level making) and I’m sure there’s alot more games to pull inspiration from… done rant lol.. fingers crossed for what the next game turns out to be..
Its funny, because I like Cradle of Life more than the original film. I love them both, but COL is my go to when I watch the films. I think it might come down to the music ans scoring in it.
This was AWESOME in every possible way. Having a little peak of not only how Tomb Raider games are done but the life of a dev and producer was really fun. My only criticism of the video itself: the music was all over the place. Sometimes it was really nice but othertimes, it was way too high. It wasn't not enough to overpower what both of you were talking but high enough to be really distracting.
I don't understand how Dallas was blown away by 2013's cinematic and storytelling to the point of saying "This is cinema!" 🤣 when we already had games with far superior storytelling and cinematics like Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Silent Hill 2, Uncharted 2 and more. I don't feel like TR 2013 innovated at all, it only followed what others did.
I think he meant specifically with the Tomb Raider sphere - I don’t think they are entirely successful with it personally, in any of the survivor era games, but they were trying to up their game.
@@jamie1449 Wish I could see the effort in writing of those characters. The only compelling - Unuratu - was killed off completely needlessly. Still Crystal shuffle's cliche character tropes without any depth. They're flat and uninteresting. Lara is hardly interesting either but again - they have different target demographic from the core fanbase and it shows. I just want more remasters.
The writing in the survivor games is pretty bad tbh which worries me- Legend is well written but it’s an outlier in the games- underworld never felt entirely well ended.
I came to say that the same thing, after watching this interview it's pretty clear this guy is so out of touch with reality and Lara Croft it's no wondered the games turned out the way they did.

Many people still rave about 2013.
After the success of the reboots, they'd be smart to make simple, old school TR games. Ppl have had enough of overly polished, overly complicated "AAA games" (that only disappoint), and just want to play.
@@ezioauditore7759 there’s nothing three dimensional and nuanced about reboot lara, she is just an emotional mess. We already had a nuanced three dimensional lara croft, it’s just that lore and character expression wasn’t a priority in the games, we can certainly have more of that.
@@Gold26502 why don't you tell me how classic Lara is "nuanced and three dimensional" first? You seem to be rejecting a very basic reality and one of the strengths of her character, that she isn't overly complicated or intimately explored. Well done on a fantastic interview chris, I always look forward to your videos. I can't say that the discussion filled me with much hope for the future of the franchise however. I feel that the 3 eras (and laras) are so fundamentally different that trying to combine them is going to end up pleasing none of the current fans, very few at most. I apologize for the pessimism, at least I can only be suprised if its better than I expect! Also the possibility of a remaster of 4,5 and hopefully 6 is somthing to look forward to.
Love the interview. I realy hope that the new game will have exploring and puzzles and less combat. Also I do not mind the bow, but please bring back dual pistols. Chris and Dallas , Thank you…

Ok! That interview actually got me excited about the next game... he seems to realle understand Lara Croft and gonna use all that they've built up in the survival trilogy, and create the Lara we fell in love with in the 90's...
Having to watch this on 2x speed because I’m on my 30 minute work break 😅 But loving this interview! You can tell Dallas has so much love for gaming history and especially Tomb Raider as a franchise, we could not be in safer hands 💖

This was great, It's although very apparent he is more in favor of Survivor Lara. I can't see Classic Lara coming back anytime soon. However, I will see how this new game is.
Adorable how you think you can gatekeep Tomb Raider. Just because I don’t worship at the altar of Crybaby Lara doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion on her. I’ve been playing Tomb Raider long before she became the poster child for trauma Olympics. If you’re content with your watered-down, angst-ridden bowwielding Lara, that’s cute. But I’m here because I care about what the franchise used to be before it turned into a soap opera. 😘
@@KieranHamilton-y7s they have the right to complain because this is not a brand new game, but an "evolution" of a character way back from the 90s and they have what to compare it with. It's not a brand new game to say huh you don't like this game then move to something else. People want the old badass Lara back and see more stories with her, that's it.
I hope the new game is nothing like the netflix series we got, i didn't like it at all. I hope we can get the sassy Lara from classics and no romantic innuendos and just pure adventure and puzzles.
Suits at Eidos once approved of that Hollywood daddy's girl story and Lara's been stuck with it ever since, much to original writer Vicky Arnold's disapprovement I hope.
So we know about the unification and the retcon they did with Tr1-3 now in the survivor timeline He said numerous times about survivor Lara becoming classic lara and the show runner has said a million times now the show leads into tr1 I’m so hyped it’s just gonna be ONE LARA now just different parts of her life because the whole different timelines just needs to end lol
Couldn't disagree more. Survivor Lara is such a fundamentally different person that there is no way in hell she'd ever become Classic Lara. Not only that, but retconning Classic Lara's backstory to be the Survivor Lara's story is a disservice to Classic Lara. The same is true for Legends Lara, it just does not fit in the Classic timeline, at all, period. Legends Lara is also a fundamentally different character with little to nothing in common with both Survivor Lara as well as Classic Lara. The fact of the matter is that these 3 different Tomb Raider series have very different Laras, and so its best to keep the Laras separate in their own separate timelines. And with that being said, I wish we'd get a new game with the true Classic Lara, but under Crystal Dynamics that's just wishful thinking. They hate Classic Lara, that much is obvious.
@@SaucyJack88I understand the love for classic lara (as I literally play every single day the remasters ahaha, up to 500+ hours currently) but it’s gonna be way easier retconning everything and putting into survivor trilogy because all timelines kinda have the same BASE origin (Lara gets stranded at a young age at some type of place and loves adventure) and their not getting rid of survivor Lara with how successful that era was so might as well have survivor trilogy as the base and build upon it And it’s actually better to retcon stuff because no matter which point of her life you love it’s still VALID. I’m happy they’re not like remaking them or anything just retconning because remaking them would literally be erasing the older games which they’re not 💚!! Just a disclaimer though I wouldn’t mind seeing remakes so long as it’s an tomb raider 1/anniversary type situation where both are canon but it’s just whichever you prefer to play 🥰
@@SaucyJack88but I would get ready for unification. You can see Lara doing the acrobatics and dual pistols in the Netflix trailer. You can see her villainess side coming to life sort of in the trailer to so it’s not hard to imagine by the end of the show survivor Lara now has the personality of classic lara And by the of AOD it’s not hard to imagine at all classic Lara transitioning into legend Lara’s personality because she’s been through it ALLL by that point. And by underworld their really is nothing left for Lara and she truly understands the importance of artifacts and culture and vowing to become and protector and no longer just a thief People change and grow and I use to be hyper critical of crystal but since embracer has purchased them, it seems like crystal is genuinely caring about fan feedback and giving fans what they want weather it be crossovers, remasters, merch, or even PHYSICAL EDITIONS OF LC GAMES (which I’m so hyped on) we gotta trust their process and give them time with this next game!
@@TombRaider_Remastered I agree with you mostly, but calling Lara a thief is not fair. She was ALWAYS a protector. She ALWAYS stopped the bad guys. Sure, did she have artifacts in her house? Yes. But where else would the developers showcase those pieces? Besides, Lara stole WAY more artefacts in the Survivor series. Just look at all the collectables she would pickup🤷♂️ But, I do think youre right about just unifying everything and continuing where the classics left off. On to Laras next adventure!
We need a superhero. Lara Croft is a superhero, not a normal person. His words bring me down so much. 'Scrap everything done with the last trilogy' are the only words I would have told him.
As a angelina jolie fan for laura craft so chris do you think she should have done more sequals after craddle of life? And what plots would it be about maybe takeing from Tomb raider 2 PS1 propley maybe lol ?
Great interview, good job Chris. I'm slightly disappointed with his answer to the best story being TR2013. I understand his reasoning but aaah, it's literally one of the worst and least Tomb Raider-ish story to date imo. Additionally, I would have loved if you asked about his views on recent controversies, such as Lara being the seeker of truth instead of the anti-hero Tomb Raider that we all know and love.
I wouldn't say it's the absolute worst in terms of story but I wouldn't say it's good either. It's just boring and was clearly focused on Uncharted-tier theatrics rather than a good narrative that fits a video game. Classic TR could be argued as having a "worse" story, since it felt like random plots that were made up on the spot, but that's just how game writing was at the time. IMO that patchwork of Lara's adventures do feel more in line with the vibe of TR.
On Reddit, Raidercast explained that he would've loved to ask Dallas about the rumors and controversies, but Crystal told him to not ask Dallas such questions and that they would address such things themselves in their own time.
@@throughthelookingglass5973 Lara being the seeker of truth instead of a tomb raider is not a rumor tho. It's part of official releases in a mobile game and a board game that are already out, both of which were approved and vetted by Crystal D.
@@gorank8537 You misunderstood me. I was merely saying that Crystal Dynamics informed Raidercast to not address such things. But yes, Lara being a truth seeker is a rumor until Crystal themselves confirms it. While yes, it sounds like a strong possibility with the logic you shared. But, nothing is permanent until Crystal gives the final word. Their collaborators do not speak for them. EDIT: In a way, Lara is a truth seeker. It does not mean she's not a tomb raider, but Lara doesn't only look for treasures but also the truth behind the artifact she sets her sights on.
Could we please not go back to shorts. Every time Lara ascends a rope line with her legs wrapped around it she is going to get rope burn. Especially if they bring back the Powered Ascender. With the amount of scrambling, jumping, rolling, sliding and all the rest her legs should be raw meat. Unless Crystal Dynamics is going to get rid of that stuff and just make Tomb Raider about puzzles, sex appeal, and sarcastic quips then this is just stupid.
you are gonna have to be ok with her shorts. Its in 17 of the 20 games. In a tv show, the 1st angelina movie, comics, like its EXTREMLEY iconic to lara croft and shes mainly in hot enviormets so they make sense. They can def have other outfits for you to change out of for variety sakes but her primary outfit needs to be the outfit that literally almost every man and woman associate (and thanks to angelina even non gamers) associate with Tomb Raider when they hear the name "Lara Croft" Also it seems like you think the entire franchise outside of 3 games is "sex appeal and dumb" so maybe tomb raider isnt a series for you my love
Ok, I’m going to drop my big tough guy persona and admit that it made me a tad emotional when he said he loved Kurtis Trent. 🥹 I do really, really, REALLY like that this is someone who played and loved the OG and it really sounds like he is respecting the past and also ready to embrace the future, I’m excited about what is coming next!

@@ezioauditore7759 Thank youuuu! Ahahaha, I can't believe it! I was crying when I heard the news.
Great job Chris!
Thanks for this message! Totally agreed on all points. 👏
Are you kidding? He destroyed Lara Croft
I lost hope after the 2nd game 😂
I wonder if it in any way sways the hopes in our favour when it comes to an AoD remaster or anything else official AoD related :)
Thank you for the episode, Chris!
Thank you so much for this episode, Chris! It was a great one, and it really is cool that you were able to have Dallas around!
Underworld lara is different from the 1-6 lara just fyi ahaha
Classic (1-6)
Legend (1-TOO)
Survivor (2013-LOLC)
but yea lets hope they can combine THREE different versions of the character and not just combine classic and survivor and leave out legend fans.
I get we have to be neutral as a fanbase but I wish Crystal were pushed more on some of the decisions they’ve made- like clarifying their suggestive “non tomb raiding collabs”
Why does anyone have to be neutral?
YES! that's what I love about Lara!
I really really enjoyed what said about honoring every Lara from every timeline and putting her in partnerships where each one best qualifies!

Read the Guardian article. Regressive pseudo-feminism, that's why.
@@j_biscuit9330 ^ THIS ^ 👏👏👏
So much respect for the survivor era lovers but that wasn’t for me.
Sorry bud but the anniversary thing is skill issue. My reflexes are just ok and I have no problem getting the adrenaline dodge almost everytime
Katniss Everdeen was compelling whereas Katpiss Neverclean is a different story
Had the same issue on PS2/PS3 with the T Rex, mostly the dodge button didn’t seem to work at all, or seldom. So I just jumped around and shot it to death. But even more frustration with the 2 Atlantean centaurs / Tomb of Tihocan. It appears to be a glitch as it freezes the centaur, when you get the first shield. I gave up playing Anniversary for months, then eventually returned to grind away and finally it all sequenced. Still love the game and atmosphere.
I hated that damn Adrenaline Dodge. That made me give up on Anniversary too. I dislike when games force you to be that precise.
Loved this interview! Totally agree with your comments about AOD
Well they were. And incredibly successful TR games at that. Outside of hardcore TR fans, they are WAY more popular than the classics.
The gameplay should have Lara interact with every surface like in the classics, even like games like Zelda botw and assassins creed your character can interact with every surface, just fine tune it to Lara’s acrobatics and done..Lara needs pick ups like keys, weapons, health management..maybe she can build traps for enemies, all real time tho,you set a boulder trap and watch it flatten the enemy real time…bring back Lara’s classic tutor style country house mansion..bring back level editor but modern make it online so people can share their tombs with the option of multiplayer or single player…
if any of these things were in the next tomb raider game Im all in, but not looking promising when the only thing Dallas apparently liked about the classic games was the music.. A modern game where you have such control over all these ways you move and interact in the game world would be refreshing and nostalgic for classic fans and innovative and new for newcomers since game characters nowadays in general just don’t have anywhere close to the variety and complexity of classic Lara’s moveset/interactivity
Instead of taking inspiration from movies and having that be front and center ,perhaps more inspiration from games like classic tomb raider, Zelda Botw(puzzles/gameplay/character interacting with all surfaces/general interactivity with the world), assassins Creed(just for the character interacting with all surfaces), bioshock(for level design and atmosphere), resident evil(atmosphere, puzzles, inventory management), just cause(for real time traps and environment destruction), farcry 5(easy to use level editor for single and multiplayer level making) and I’m sure there’s alot more games to pull inspiration from… done rant lol..
fingers crossed for what the next game turns out to be..
Did Dallas say we were/ are "Crofties"???? Not sure how I feel about that :-)
Omg yes i loved the locking Winston in the freezer moment 🤣
Its funny, because I like Cradle of Life more than the original film. I love them both, but COL is my go to when I watch the films. I think it might come down to the music ans scoring in it.
The music in COL is awesome!!
Cradle of life is just better made and written overall- the first one is messy because the script was rewritten near filming.
Noted, thanks. Will be more careful to balance it better in future.
quite interesting,thank you both!

If anything Underworld did better job without the hand camera but what do I know. I'm just a paying consumer 😂
Bring back classic Lara
So we know about the unification and the retcon they did with Tr1-3 now in the survivor timeline
He said numerous times about survivor Lara becoming classic lara and the show runner has said a million times now the show leads into tr1
I’m so hyped it’s just gonna be ONE LARA now just different parts of her life because the whole different timelines just needs to end lol
@@SaucyJack88I understand the love for classic lara (as I literally play every single day the remasters ahaha, up to 500+ hours currently) but it’s gonna be way easier retconning everything and putting into survivor trilogy because all timelines kinda have the same BASE origin (Lara gets stranded at a young age at some type of place and loves adventure) and their not getting rid of survivor Lara with how successful that era was so might as well have survivor trilogy as the base and build upon it
And it’s actually better to retcon stuff because no matter which point of her life you love it’s still VALID.
You can see her villainess side coming to life sort of in the trailer to so it’s not hard to imagine by the end of the show survivor Lara now has the personality of classic lara
And by the of AOD it’s not hard to imagine at all classic Lara transitioning into legend Lara’s personality because she’s been through it ALLL by that point.
And by underworld their really is nothing left for Lara and she truly understands the importance of artifacts and culture and vowing to become and protector and no longer just a thief
People change and grow and I use to be hyper critical of crystal but since embracer has purchased them, it seems like crystal is genuinely caring about fan feedback and giving fans what they want weather it be crossovers, remasters, merch, or even PHYSICAL EDITIONS OF LC GAMES (which I’m so hyped on) we gotta trust their process and give them time with this next game!
@@jovanjonckwelp that anime came out and has me concerned lmaoo… it’s like REALLY bad
We need a superhero. Lara Croft is a superhero, not a normal person. His words bring me down so much. 'Scrap everything done with the last trilogy' are the only words I would have told him.
Yes! They need to retcon the Survivor storyline and just pickup where the Classic or LAU left off. Never to go back to that Uncharted copy again!
As a angelina jolie fan for laura craft so chris do you think she should have done more sequals after craddle of life? And what plots would it be about maybe takeing from Tomb raider 2 PS1 propley maybe lol ?
I’d have loved to see her do more TR films! Something filled with ancient myth like TR4 would’ve been amazing.
@@Raidercast yeah that will be a fun plot .
@@Raidercast perhaps Lora on the run like from angel of darkness, but that could been save for a 4th one maybe.
This is a fantastic bombshell ♥️
Nice!!!
Well no because you’re measuring it against your own biased nostalgia.
It does not mean she's not a tomb raider, but Lara doesn't only look for treasures but also the truth behind the artifact she sets her sights on.
great interview !
Great interview. ❤️✨
Thanks Jamie!
You got your wish. TR4, 5, and AoD Remastered, confirmed.
DALLAS LOVE TOMB RAIDER (2001) MOVIE
@@zPePhungz I would have judged him harshly if he didn’t 😂
@@Raidercast it's all about guilty pleasure
Dallas seems like a clever guy. But, as ever, lets wait for some acutal concepts and gameplay from Unified Lara.
💥🔫🔫
Can we get a TL:DR for this ahahahah
They can def have other outfits for you to change out of for variety sakes but her primary outfit needs to be the outfit that literally almost every man and woman associate (and thanks to angelina even non gamers) associate with Tomb Raider when they hear the name "Lara Croft"
Also it seems like you think the entire franchise outside of 3 games is "sex appeal and dumb" so maybe tomb raider isnt a series for you my love
this franchise is in great hands 🙌🏻🩷
I couldn't disagree more.
Fantastic job, Chris. Keep smashing it my friend. 🙌👑
