I'll just take my notes... : 1. Satin - A soft, shiny fabric often used for fancy dresses. It has a glossy surface and a dull back, made from filament yarns. Originally silk. - It is a flat and lustrous with a smooth surface. Soft and good drapability. The surface slides easily for lining. The fabric is wrinkle-resistant and its poor resistand to abrasion. Uses: • Eveningwear • Lingerie • Facings • Hats • Shirts • Ties • Sportwear • Wedding
2. Denim - One of the most iconic fabrics, made from rugged tight woven twill. - its traditionally even with 100% cotton yarn, however today, it's blended with polyester to shrinkage, wrinkles and lycra. It is strong and durable. It's for long wearing and it resists snags and tears. Uses: • Jeans • Shorts • Shirts • Lightweighted Jackets • Suits • Sportwear • Caps • Eveningwear • Children Cloths
3. Georgette - a type of crêpe fabric that is typically made from pure silk but also can be made from synthetic fibers like rayon, viscose and polyester. It is sheer and lightweighted and it has a dull, matte finish. - It is uneven textured and has a crispy feel. It has an elegant look but it has a full apperance and its snagging more and is difficult to sew. Uses: • manufactured sarees • Used for scarves • Dresses • Various garment accesories • Used as interlining or lining
4. Drill fabric - made of carded yarns generally on coarser count. - it is medium to heavy weight and it is string, durable and breathable. It is tightly woven fabric and it has hugh tensile strength. Uses: • Skirts • Trousers • Dresses • Jacket • Househild items • Work clothes • Industrial uses
5. Velvet - a type of woven tufted fabric in which the cut threads are evenly distributed with a short dense pile, giving it a distinctive feel. - it is smooth, softer, thick, and bulky. Good warmth retention. Good drape and fall and crease resistance properties. Uses: • Eveningwear • Upholstry • Curtains • Cushion covers
6. Voile - A soft yet firm sheer fabric of plain weave. Generally made of comber hard twisted single yarns, although ply yarns are also used. - it is made with 100% cotton and blends include polyester or linen. It can be solid, dyed or printed. It has a soft feel and it is sheer and light weighted. It drapes and gather well. Uses: • Ladies dresses • Skirts • Dress lining • Accessory fabric in apparels

Hi! Thank you! Do you know which fabrics (or fibers) do the best job at retaining a human being's natural scent? This is exactly opposite of what sports apparel want (they want fabrics that repel body oder, but I'm looking for fabrics that retain our natural odor). Thoughts?
I am just here because idk how to wash that damn t-shirt and I can't wash it bcz I don't know what it is made of. Hostel student experience maybe someone here too 🙄
