Mr. Richards you should do the 2019 Election and The Rise and fall of Boris Johnson.

    Shakespearean? Yes, it was tragic!
The 'heroine' was flawed, and took actions she didn't have to take and could have avoided. Two features of a classical tragedy.

Ah the 2017 election - the day when British politics became REALLY interesting!

When Theresa May writes her memoirs I suspect she will of course regret the performance of her and the Tories election campaign, but I don't think she'll regret actually calling the election.

Enjoyed this... I remember seeing the Labour manifesto and really buying into the change promised... As I strongly feel (as I do now) that Globalisation, Neo Liberalism, poor housing has hampered my life (I am still renting at 40) and at that time they also promised publicly to honour the Brexit vote as well (even if they dishonestly tucked away in that manifesto they were effectively remaining within it in lawyer techno babble, that most would not understand.). It is such a shame as I genuinely believed that Manifesto was the right path, yet as a lifetime voter of Labour (even if not a great follower of politics), yet in 2019 I voted Conservatives for the first time as I felt a total betrayal in their refusal to accept the democratic position of the pubic, when their pubic persona was in 2017 to honour that result (and I voted Remain but was angered to see the elites attempt a coup on that democratic result). Therefore in 2019 I was one of the many who switched my vote to the Conservatives for the first time, even though I disagree with many of their policies, because they were the only party who seemed to accept and be willing to honour the true spirit of the referendum result, as opposed to using patronising lawyer techo-babble (the people didn't actually know what they were voting for) to overturn that democratic result. The sad truth is that I fear Labour will take the wrong lessons from 2019... They will see it as the policies that caused their wipe-out. It was not, it was their betrayal of honouring the referendum result they were punished for, that and a Labour leader and weak shadow cabinet who continued to not impress and flip flop as the years progressed.

...To add I was originally heart warmed with Theresa Mays speech about for the struggling people, seemingly get the issues people are encountering as a result of the free market and imbalanced economy and yet nothing really happened from it, with it clearly just being a speech of empty political platitudes. If there was anything radical promised in 2017 for the non fox hunting masses, I failed to see it, so they clearly didn't sell it to me very well.

Voters , vote for their own selfish self interest. Nothing else. To say it was a result of a failure to teach in advance is giving the Tory voters credit for an intelligence they don't possess.
