Wait till you get used to hearing it but not visually checking. Trailer comes off unforgiving Always look at it.
Great video for learning coupling and uncoupling. Thank you.
Appreciate the video. My trailer disconnected in the middle of road. I was trying to explain to my wife that how the kingpin was not locked properly but I couldn't explain the mechanism. My 5th got bad because earlier it had passed the tug test. Thanks
Saleem Khan where you driving a Volvo ?
It happens. I did a triple tug test and as soon as I pulled away from the dock and turned left my trailer dropped. It was about 10 degrees outside and I imagine the metal had expanded and I had a false lock Maybe the grease was thickened also because of the temp also
Sometimes a real heavy load can fool you into thinking it's locked, I imagine with really sticky grease, that contributes as well.
A visual check on the release lever and the bar behind the kingpin is the best
It’s nice to actually see the actions that i have only gotten descriptions of in my school, now it all “clicks” in, thank you!
My thoughts too, y'all see the jaw snatch the king pin? Very beautiful
Thanks for that video. It makes it much easier to understand seeing it first hand. It's kind of hard to believe though that the king pin and jaws of the 5th wheel are the only link between the truck and trailer holding back all that weight.
Only a truck driver would understand the great sound of that clicking noise
what about when it doesnt click and it just hits ?? happened to me today i was pissed!! then i realized the locking jaw wasnt opening all the way and it was not taking the kingpin ..
CashRulez Dollas Happened to me today. So frustrating and embarrassing. I fixed mine by going around and setting up again. Why it work the second time, I have no idea.
Like me waiting now at the michanic shop to fix my fifth wheel bad feeling 🙄
Its not a click, it's an engagement.
And a convict
Extremely helpful in learning the dynamic of it thank you
Great film work, clear coverage,
Film work which the viewer gets to comprehend and understand the meaning of the instructions without voice .
Outstanding job , wishing you continued success and happiness.
Superb video action. Nice close up and slow motion. The BEST I have seen anywhere on the Internet.
Thanks for the video - It is a great slow motion of how the 5th wheel jaws lock around the king pin. Cheers Rick
Locks around the shank
Shank of the kingpin
For some reason, this reminds me of my marriage.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 you're the tractor, she's the trailer & the coupling was wedding day huh.....
Hahahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this. I swear I couldn’t grasp the concept of what the king pin and 5th wheel were
Great video, I play it on repeat all night so I can sleep
What an excellent video. Thank you very much for making it
REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST BEFORE ITS TOO LATE ✝️
If you don’t see that nub on the left. It will look like it’s secure. It’s not tho
This is answers one of my Combination Test question.
This is really helpful, thanks. Just trying to study from the manual for my CDL permit but it make so much more sense when you can see it! Reading the book is so boring I wish I could just see videos like as I go through the book, but it takes a lot of time. Thanks again for posting this.
If you dont here that lovely sound then your trailer is too high & your king pin just hopped over the 5th wheel 😀😀😀😀😀😀
Im a switcher truck driver and I do this over 100 times a day in a 10 hour shift
The slo mos make the trucks sound like trains
Good to see. I've had so many trucks over the past 7 years that it seems like every other guy out there designs them differently. Last one had little crab like claws go around it. This one has a bar the size of the bumper. Didn't know if my eyes were playing tricks with me.
Thanks...now i know hows the system work
Very pertinent video in light of the Clark Memorial Bridge accident this past Friday! Not exactly what that coupling was designed for...
Thanks so much for putting this out there. Much appreciated.
perfect, now I understand! Starting CDL school in Sept. 2022
The king pin is worn looking at the movement between the skidplate and the turntable at the end of the video....
I hate simplex there fifthwheels are junk! And looking at this one and the amount of play In it the jaws need Tightened up
what an great video!! thanks
My grandpa checked that video and said, I wouldn`t put my pecker in there!
thank you your Video..im Watching from Dipolog City Philippines
Everyone's already said what I was gonna say. So thanks for posting this. I needed the visual.
The exact video I was looking for…
simple straight to the point .. love it
I have pinned up counntless times. Thanks for that view. I always wanted to see that.
Can a kingpin put a hole in a fifth wheel?
This was cool. That locking sound was the best.
These are an atrocity to all man kind. My life will never be the same because of a simplex fifth wheel.
Why
Locking jaws around the SHANK, NOT the head of kingpin. Release arm properly seated and safety latch/lock engaged. Good job!
Thanks so much for posting this video. Reading about it and actually seeing it, makes a huge difference
Mantap 👍👍
Another way to check if it's properly attached other than the tug test ?
Sure, check to see if the release lever is all the way in and that the bar slides behind the Kingpin as shown in the video. You have to get under the trailer behind the truck and look forward, usually with a flashlight.
This is how child support works
This is best sound in my life
Best video. They need to show this at school so we’ll know what their talking about instead of just a pic.
Damn, this is a good video. Thanks!
that was very helpful thanks so much
cant believe it took me a long time to find this video. Perfect for showing friends trying to train.
Never saw a safety lock like that when I left.(2006) All we had was the little block over the actual latch for a visual. We also had to push in on the pull handle. Like that flip lock.
Now I miss her lol
Please let me know what is you prevention measure and maintenance procedure to avoid any incident related to the 5th Wheel.
Show what a high hook looks like
That could be rather painful for the cameraman🤣🤣🤣
Thanks
Thank u so much!

Finally The best video out there
Legal o acoplamento cavalo com a carreta😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
ahh yes the 5th wheel likes it wet
Why u do the 5th wheel dirty for
Tidak bisa ngelock gimana
Manpower is awesome how a single king pin bears the entire heavy weight of the trailer and even trucks luggage as well.
Several years ago I picked up trailer parts in Michigan and OH. the parts were going to Utility trailer in VA. some of the parts were king pins. I don't know the exact weight but the king pins were very heavy if I would be guessing about the weight I say each on had to weight 60 lbs. or more
Don't forget that the kingpins are part of a whole steel plate called the apron. It helps to distribute the stress the kingpin goes through.
Yes though not the safest way. Careful the trailer doesn't tip. Especially when hooking back up.
Not quite sure what you are referring to about not being safe and how would the trailer tip?
ASMR trucker edition.

almost same i did homemade used my R/C model
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Beautiful
Can the fifth wheel release the king pin if the tractor is 90 degrees to the trailer? I need a trailer I'm buying to be placed in a tight spot and the truck has to jig it in.
Doesn't matter what angle the tractor and trailer are to each other. The king pin still slides in or out of the same opening.
It will, just be careful it's not too far into a jack knife situation!😁😁😁 Or you can always ask know it all trucker Mike Ledesma!!! Lol😂😆
Of course it can but, if the tractor’s cocked to the left, you’re gonna have to crawl under to pull the release!
It will unlock as long as there isn’t pressure pulling on the jaw. Now if it’s a simplex fifth wheel like the one in this video it may just release for no apparent reason. Only buy trucks equipped with Fontaine or Holland, never a simplex.
@@happypappy6371 Yes, but the rules forbid it! Only straight! Otherwise, you can drop the trailer.
Great video!!
Best video I've seen showing this
Awsome video
Oddly satisfying
One more time!
Thank you for yuor vedio
I LIKE PEANUT BUTTER ON MY NIPPLES

Good stuff man
Can the simplex II be adjusted
Great video.
Excellent hires footage!
That's it, you mean to tell me that all that weight and torque those trailers put out over the road go into that little 1" pin😲
Yes
It is more like a hardened 3" pin.
@@hotrodhog2170 yeah, not so little!
Omg so satisfying!!!💦
Kyle R haha
ui toll
Dude you have the balls to show a fifth wheel coupling with that dry Kingpin and all those metal shavings really
Lol i love people lol
I thought I was the only one😢 that noticed that
Those are water droplets, not metal shavings.
@@toddwoods8302 I beg to differ. In the close up on the left you can see a droplet of water trickle down and in it's wake you can still see the metal shavings stuck to the fifth wheel.
goreng
I co niby w tym ciekawego?
