great cover version and very well executed. took me a while to get to that speed. funny enough I used Zoom G5n as well but wasn't quite happy with what I got and addedan amp modeller in garageband for the solo part to get that insane sustain. Do you by any chance know what guitars the Maiden guys used to record the studio version? Just curious. I was reading just now they both were mainly into Jacksons and
Strats, but also used a lot of other guitars as well. It's weird to think of a Strat as a metal guitar, but there it is. I don't know why not when so many metal bands have used them. (or strat Style). Even the Motorhead guys used Strats or Strat-style a lot.
I’m not entirely sure. I know that Dave used his black strat extensively around that time. Adrian used a different number of guitars at the time including an Ibanez destroyer and a Gibson Les Paul. I’ve always considered a strat with a humbucker on the bridge as the most versatile guitar there was at the time. Strats have always been associated with blues and rock, but as soon as you add the humbucker on the bridge you can play whatever you want with them. They might not have the looks that guitars designed to play metal have, but they were designed to accommodate to the needs of the player. Certainly an instrument that was ahead of its time (but this is coming from a strat and super strat guy)
@@Andreas_the_axe_wielder Interesting! Yeah so it's how it's modded with the pickups. I guess actives might make a huge difference too. These days you can dial in amp models and FX with all kinds of equipment that you couldn't necessarily in the 70s and 80s. You'd have to buy a Marshall or Randall amp or Mesa and use a pedalboard if you wanted a Maiden sound or Sabbath. Nowadays even my Vox VX50 amp can dial in about four channels of high gain models with ease. Plus flanger etc.

Thank you. I've been playing guitar for about 12 years. I use my picking hand to mute the E-string when I'm not using it.
Are you muting the top string with your 2nd finger?
Not really. If I need to mute anything I'll probably do it with the back of the picking hand. It just looks like I'm doing it with my second finger because of how it rests when it's not fretting any strings.
For modern metal i guess you would want something else, though. Super high gain etc.
