    Ah, another Rover!
Another pilgrim of change and purveyor of death who seeks to wrest the fate of Chorus away from the untamed wilds. Will you perish there in the hinterlands or will you make it out with more than your life?
There is something out there. Something worth seeking for, but it will be up to you to determine what precisely that is. Maybe it’s purpose. Maybe it’s knowledge. Or maybe it’s just nothing but trouble.
But it’s not up to me. So, go on. Get out there and seek, before someone or something makes the decisions for you.
Welcome to Rove, an immersive campaign adventure for 1-4 players. Explore the high fantasy world of Chorus, a wild and vibrant planet full of flora, fauna, and other things… that all want to kill or eat you. Rovers, a loosely-formed collective of sojourners and adventurers, struggle to maintain a tenuous balance. The natural predators of Chorus roam the wilds, threatening to prevent the people of Chorus from thriving.
As Rovers, players will adventure through a branching story filled with consequence, where choices affect both individual adventures and the state of the world. But beware, the paths left behind don’t fade away. They linger and fester until what was once the promise of a threat evolves into something else entirely.
Along the way, players will unlock new skills, equipment, and classes in strategic, turn-based combat. Adversaries will not stand idly by, though, and let Rovers traverse Chorus without hindrance. A unique behavior table will dictate how adversaries react based on the state of the encounter. This extra dimension of gameplay demands more careful consideration from the players without increasing upkeep. Spend less time managing the game and more time playing it. And Rove’s inspired skill card mechanic makes learning the game easy but provides complex strategic decisions for even the most veteran of players.
Master these mechanics and work together as a team. It might just be enough for you Rovers to leave a lasting mark in a world that forgets quickly and forgives rarely.

It seems that there's a lot of empty space in the left side of the encounter/map book. It would be interesting if they added more info of all the enemies in that side. i.e., traker of health, status aliments and buff/debuffs. I dislike when you have to put status tokens under the standees/minis and the you have to move them with all the tokes, this would help to clear space in the map.

This video was great for checking out what this game is about. Thank you both very much!

Thanks for the video! I especially appreciate you both seeming familiar with your classes, it gives a different feel from other playthroughs I have seen. The thing I am always most curious about for these games, which is very hard to answer in crowdfunding, is difficulty. I usually have more fun on hard or +1, and there is no way to guess at where a game without customizable difficulty (at least, it doesn't seem to have a built-in way to set difficulty?) is aiming to be by its mid- and late-games.

I often listen to these while cooking, so I can't see the screen. I have to say, other than the words "Ether" and "Die" this game sounds exactly like Gloomhaven. Even when I watch it looks very very similar

The card gameplay feels like buttons and bugs with the flipping sides.

@@BoardGameCo As someone that's played a ton of Gloomhaven how does this stack up? I've only played JOTL and really enjoyed it, which is why I got a craving for Frosthaven.

i havent played Rove but it would rather get this than Frosthaven. I would rather support a smaller indie team. Plus as good as Gloomhaven and frosthaven is, i feel that Frosthaven is just too big. Its like a video game made into a board game - if they ever do a frosthaven in video game format, like they did with Gloomhaven i would love to buy it. Until then i think that JOTL is just fine.

If you have a computer and are playing solo, I would pick up the Gloomhaven game on Steam. It's more similar to Jaws than Frosthaven and much much easier to "table" so to speak. 🤣 As for Frosthaven, I would read some of the comments from users on Board Game Geek. There were some new features in Frosthaven and the reaction to them has been mixed. So you might want take a peek and try to figure out whether the new features in Frosthaven are right for you.

at 7:20 in: feeling for Meg! Alex, back off on the alpha gaming! Winning is building up relationships, not defeating fictional entities on a board! :)

lol sorry, there's a very thin line between ignoring any sense of actual collaboration and telling people what to do. I try to be mindful of it but it's absolutely possible I cross it at times.

I rewatched, and I think it might have just been me being "casual" in a filmed video and not realizing, but often with coop we do discuss and go for the best option. Me saying "can I go one forward - is one too much?" was me literally asking Alex the enemy's movement and range to make sure I could, because I didn't want to calculate it myself. So it might have sounded a bit too casual and came across the wrong way, but I asked because I wanted the answer of how far forward I could go without engaging the enemies round one. I do appreciate you calling it out though, regardless if it presents wrong it's good to mention so we can explain! :)

Similar genres, but they're coming in with Crimon Scales as a massively succesful game.

Maybe visually? But the underlying mechanics are completely different than Gloomhaven. Don't know how you could come to that conclusion if you actually watched the video.

    The game looks good.
But I feel like the project is being ran terrible.
There was no hype being built before the Kickstarter launched.
There is not much engagement on the comments and practically none on their social media accounts.
    Worst is discord.
When I checked it out today following the link from the last update, I found a deserted discord server. Only found messages from last year containing internal communication that I feel backers should not be able to read.

it is has some unexperienced air around it. i am fine with it, but the discord thing sounds odd. i dont get though why they choose kickstarter over gamefound, stretch play would give them twice the amount of pledges (given, i dont get the logistics behind such)

    • @john9801
      @john9801 25 дней назад +1

@@otakuofmine I think they had a Kickstarter page for years already. Maybe even before stretch pay was a thing.
On that Kickstarter page they got about 3900 followers. Maybe that's why they stuck with it.
