honestly it is kind of funny how for so much hull armor to be put onto the tiger 2 only for them to have such a massive oversight on the front of the turret where a centered strike could pen even from a 57mm cannon.
@@jasskeeper8152 honestly I always wondered why they didn't use a heavily angled flat piece instead of the later turret with the near vertical 185mm slab. I imagine the weight would not have been too much higher to put a similar 150mm plate at an angle of 45° or so behind the mantlet.
@@dominuslogik484angled turrets isn't really that much common during the war compared to today. Also irl not much tank crews aim for the turret or any other weak spots at all. Battlefields aren't like testing ground so the narrower later war turrets with a flat ass mantle does make sense since it's already hard to aim at ww2 battlefield conditions especially if you have the long 8.8 staring down your tank and the narrower turret makes it even harder.

Iirc Krupp also made the tiger 2h turret.
