  • watch a deaf man and a complete idiot install a flex sensor with spare parts on a 2008 G8GT, tuning after he gets his flex % up!
    here is a link to the shrink and solder connectors i bought to try, seem to be working good, takes some heat and you have to make sure solder flows

    removing gas cap will relieve pressure from vapors in tank but will do nothing for the pressurized fuel held in the line by the check valve located on the outlet of the fuel pump.
    The only two ways to relieve pressure on this vehicle would have been removing the fuel pump relay and attempting to run until it died or use shrader valve on fuel rail, normally used for checking pressure.

      Yep, pull the relay/fuse, run for a bit and good to go.

    Does this detect the amount of e85 in the tank ?

    • @SloppyMechanics
      @SloppyMechanics  6 лет назад

      in so many words, yes. it measures ethanol content in the fuel feed line, based off of continuity and then the ecu automatically modifies the tuneup

      The stock ecu ?
      Or you modified something ?

    LOL I normally pull the fuel pump relay and start it to bleed some pressure off.

  • @TheCrewChief374
    @TheCrewChief374 6 лет назад +1

    It is my understanding, on unscrewing the gas cap, that you have to allow time for the fuel system, to discharge.
    Although, if one is impatient, and would like to get the task, done quicker. Then one just skips removing the gas cap, and disconnects the fuel line.
    So the can do the oh crap dance! 😎😋😁

    Can't wait to see how this goes, have an older flex sensor (can type, 03 tahoe) that I'm wanting to put in my ls chevelle. Matt I hope that isn't the harbor freight split loom. I bought a bag of it a while back and will never again. It works ok until a couple heat cycles then gets seriously brittle and falls apart.

    Matt where can you get the pins for the ecm?

    • @SloppyMechanics
      @SloppyMechanics  6 лет назад

      like where do you buy additional pins? best is to just get an entire install kit from like DSX tuning, comes with everything you need. otherwise you'll have to source it all, stealing them out of gen4 ecu connectors is the best way obviously

    • @JJREKracing
      @JJREKracing 6 лет назад

      The absolute cheapest combination I've found is from pace performance. Sensor, pigtail, extra wire, and shipping for right at $100.

  • @TheCrewChief374
    @TheCrewChief374 6 лет назад +1

    The other way, I know to relieve fuel pressure, would be using a fuel pressure gauge, that had a relief valve on it and hooking it up to the valve on the car, and depressurizing the system into a container.
    Although, like I said in my first comment, I enjoy the oh crap dance, when the line depressurize all over the place, and the guy tasked with the job does the infamous "Oh crap dance" 😁😎😋

    So you had to make a new tune for this? Or does the computer automatically fix its tune?

  • @dangerousfreedom4965
    @dangerousfreedom4965 6 лет назад

    So when you hook up the E85 sensor the stock computer will automatically read the E content?

    • @TrunkMonkey42
      @TrunkMonkey42 6 лет назад

      The stock ecu tune has alcohol spark tables, but are two or three other mixing tables that need to be changes from zeros, plus the sensor needs to be enabled and some diagnostics configured. I've found two how to's for this so far. Search for "How to put native E85 on your G8" and "Writeup on "How to add Flex Fuel setup"".

      Brain, be careful where you get the light, I paid something like $68 and the battery lasted 20min.
      So, I took it apart and wired in a rather large battery, now it lasts over 2 hours.
      Get the one with the spring loaded hooks, not the Harbor Freight ones, I have 3, and they use plastic gravity hooks and magnets.
