Reporting Abuse, Understanding Investigations, and Coordinating with Law Enforcement:

In OIG’s assessment of the implementation of patient protection policies, IHS facilities reported a number of barriers that may discourage staff and patients from reporting abuse. A key to addressing and preventing patient abuse is ensuring everyone can report suspected abuse and has the assurance that they will be safe in doing so. IHS, in partnership with OIG, has created a website and a hotline that are dedicated to take reports of suspected sexual abuse in IHS. Watch this video to learn more about these reporting mechanisms and what happens after a report is made, including coordination with law enforcement.
