The "giant joke guitar" is in fact a contrabass balalaika and has been around in various forms for over 200 years. As far as "serious bands" go, name 3 others where every member can play every instrument. The music may not be to your taste, that's perfectly acceptable, but please respect the skills of 4 talented performers.
Original is from a period in Genesis' history when they had virtually nothing to offer people who appreciate MUSIC.
