- Autumn is a wonderful time in South East Australia to explore the many species of fungi that fruit around this time. Here is my version of the key differences to look out for when identifying edible field mushrooms
This is sooooo helpful! Was just this morning commenting on how I couldn't find any good info on comparing these two mushrooms in Vic. Thank you!
Is that you Echo? From Dalesford way?
Glad it was helpful!!
@@davidbrennan5772 yes! Literally tried to find info on this exact thing this morning cause there's a bunch of very fieldy looking mushrooms in our red pine mushroom spot this year. We just weren't sure how to id them. You've totally helped us
@@echoandarta3835 please be sure not to eat the Amanita phalloides (death cap) by accident. These will leave a white spore print, compared to the field mushroom which will leave a dark brown spore print.
@@davidbrennan5772 these definitely had dark brown. Confident in iding the death caps, just not the difference between yellow stainers and field mushrooms.
Nice work David Brennan! Good information, we have been finding a lot of both at the moment and this helps!
No worries Will!
Are you down in South West Vic too? I've been finding way more yellow stainers than fieldies, but its a thrill when you find the safe ones. Plus when you find a patch of confirmed field mushrooms, you can always revisit after rain, for many years to come!
Now that's a man that knows his mushrooms..
