Bang on with your review on this seat. My 996 GT3 came with Sports seats that I’ve changed to Recaro PP ABEs. The manual from Recaro isn’t helpful at all except for how to piece the various spacers together. You need to supply your own nuts and washers if you’re getting the 996 specific kit. I’ll even go so far as to say that you can fabricate your own seat base. At 1.91m tall the Recaro supplied base is way too close to the steering. I’m fabricating a new one to move it 40mm backward. The Recaro supplied base is hollow rectangular tubing with threads welded on . I can’t see how a flat bar that’s threaded can be any less safe. Seats are amazing though!
I installed the driver's side a few days ago and I'm already getting leather creasing in the front cushion. I notice you have something similar going on. Seems the front cushion is slightly too wide, and must be pressed in, which causes the leather to bunch/crease under weight. btw, your review was spot on. Seats are comfortable and enhance the driving experience. Just a bit underwhelmed by the leather quality, and I suspect the cushions won't last very long.
Glad I could help! Yeah finding the right seats is soo important. Just bear in mind with our height the PP wont accomodate a harness due to the shoulder holes. Recaro make tartan or custom inserts ?
Coming from Karting, where seats fit like a tight glove ... my 996TT standard seats were VERY DISAPPOINTING on my first track day, useless seats, lol. Your seats here appear to have the side support needed for performance driving.
Where did you buy the Recaro 82.26.16 and 82.26.26 sliders? I tried RHD Japan but they couldn’t find it. 😢 I need them for my 944 S2 as the wedge bracket ones I bought are shit.😊
Question? were you able to fish the stock seatbelt receiver through the seat hole as shown in video or did you need to make any mods to get it that way ? I am considering these seats for my 996 but don't want to compromise the proper seatbelt fit nor do i want to make any mods to stock seatbelt receiver. thanks
@@CarPlebs Thank you! I've got the 930 sport seats, which are very good. Torn about these; they weigh considerably less, but may not be nearly as comfortable, especially on long trips. What do you think?
@@diplomacy2000 more comfortable than any other seat I have in the 911s, the only thing is maneuvering in the car and getting in and out. Took a trip 400km in them and felt amazing.
@@diplomacy2000 sure thing, one more item is your height. That should also influence the choice of seat as for me the holes for a 5 point Harnes are too low on the PP, but I don’t want a harness.

Great video! I am considering these seats for my 996 (Also 6 foot 2) and this helped me make my decision. I'm gonna go with the tartan plaid.

@@CarPlebs Good point! Thanks. And yeah Recaro makes them with the inserts. It's similar to the houndstooth one you were looking at.
Congrats. They look good.
Thanks! 😁
Do these sit much lower than stock? Currently have the same sport seats and hate how high I sit.
Hi mate great vid. Question, how much lower would you say you sit compared to oem?

Did the swap set off the airbag or seatbelt warning light? There is a warning light on the dash up until 4:50
No seatbelt warnings were present
Whats the difference between the regular and ABE?
What are the torque ratings for the seat bolts?

Stock without any issues all direct bolt on.
@@CarPlebs are they the standard pole positions or the pole positions abe which apparently are supposed to be made for 3 point belts? thanks again
@@jimmygesiotto standard, Pole position ABE, in leather. The third hole is under the cushion.
have you try the oem bucket seat?
Recaro seat slides have a tab for seat belt buckle? I dont see anything
yes
how is getting in and getting out of them ?
Terrible
Are these ABEs?
Yes! 🙂
