Your wooden box and crocheted basket of leaves were so pretty. You could put that on display. 😀 I love the card, I'm going to try it. Thanks for a beautiful video.
Love watching the painting coming to life. You bring the beauty out of all your subjects. Perfect subject for a quick card. The final touches bring such vibrancy to the leaves and acorns. Thank you.
Been a leaf collector for years and love autumn colors and textures. Can't wait to watch this again to ready myself for my own painting and inking autumn cards. Thanks for motivating me!
You’ve inspired me. I live in a townhome community In southwestern Pennsylvania. Certainly not a farm but when I took my walk today I collected the beautiful leaves of all shapes and colors and now I am pressing them and tomorrow I will put mod podge on them to preserve them. Then I will use them for a watercolor reference. I wish I had acorns and oak leaves! But I will copy yours thanks to you! I enjoy your videos more than you can ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the beautiful whimsical paintings and inspiration that you share. I feel like I know you!
I am often told by my daughter thats its like taking a 2 Yr old for a walk. I'm 80 and I just can't resist the colourful Autumn Leaves, the beautiful shiny conkers and the abundance of seed pots and acorns. I do occasionally get to paint them too, but mainly I just love collecting them.
I couldn’t agree more, autumn is my favourite season, because of the wonderful glorious colours we have all around us. Just looking at some wild mushrooms today and wondering at how beautiful they are!
I am more of a summer person, and the only thing I love about autumn Is the beautiful colorful leaves that adorn the trees. I pick up leaves, seed pods, pine cones, acorns and twigs and try to paint them. I am going to try using the micron pen. Thank you for sharing your beautiful painting❤❤❤
it's a chilly, rainy day in Richmond VA and a perfect day to learn a fall watercolor painting with Diane. So happy I found this tutorial. Thank you for always organizing your videos so well. I was hoping for an October list of fall paintings and there it is. Thank you Diane and Tamsin!
It's only my thoughts, but I think you're videos are some of the most inspirational and motivating for me of all videos I watch for watercolour. Thank you.
I paint art envelopes for all my snail mail these day to the delight of our postmistress. I use a template to maximise A4 watercolour sheets (open up a commercial envelope with straight flap, adjust size if need be and glue to sturdy cardboard so you can trace around). Once painted both sides, addressed, folded & glued, stamp attached and all dry I waterproof it by rubbing over entire envelope with Vaseline using my finger. Leave it for a day propped in a toast rack to absorb and then gently wipe off any excess Vaseline with paper towel. Cheap and effective and ensures it survives a shower … we’ve had over 3.1m rain so far this year so waterproofing is essential!!
Hi Charlie, thanks so much for your very interesting message. What a great idea to make your own painted envelopes for your mail. Just a thought about the waterproofing, have you thought of using modpodge, slightly watered down to make it thinner, as a waterproofing coating? I think it would work. I’m going to give it a try and make a video about painting envelopes. You literally paint over the whole entire envelope? No complaints from the post office? I think it’s a really sweet idea! Thanks so much for sharing.
It’s nice when you can go out and choose leaves etc. from your own yard! I still pick up colorful fall leaves! Thank you so much Diane! I hope you can warm up!🤗
Thanks Linda I’m a bit warmer now! It seems to have turned rather chilly all of a sudden, a big change from super hot summer! If you’re in the states you’re probably used to these sudden changes, but we are not! Never mind I’ll just turn the heating up!
Iv'e been selling my cards in the drug store downstairs from me. You have given me inspiration for my fall cards. I love your autumn paintings as I am partial to those warm colours
I love your videos and your work! I have to disagree about using gold outside of Christmas tho.... I think a gold border would hv been gorgeous and some gold accents on the leaves fun too.... its going to be fun experimenting! thanku for your inspiration
Yes you’re absolutely right Andrea, but I was feeling sympathy for people who didn’t have gold paint or pen! I’ll probably add a gold stripe later! Glad you enjoyed it and do have fun experimenting - that’s what it’s all about!
Loved this. I thought your background was beautiful. The painting seemed perfect before, but with that extra detail, wow! Thank you Diane another amazing painting.
This is si timely! I just returned to Australia yesterday from England and France. We don’t have oaks here so I’d picked up a leaf and sketched around it while I was there, but I couldn’t find any acorns. Your painting is lovely and sketchy and just what I’d like for my journal. Thanks so much . I’ll be coming back to this video when I’m over jet lag.
Hi Jacqui and so glad you have had a safe journey back to Australia. Hope your trip to Europe was good. So glad you like the video, and hope you enjoy making your painting when you can focus again! I hate flying, it always makes me feel so ill !!!
Enjoyed my morning visit Diane.. I made it about halfway thru... That calls for a second cup of coffee! But first i must walk..... I've been sketching some koi in my Art Journal as i watch your video.. You always encourage me to draw.. Great video! Thank you ! Hugs! deb
Thanks so much Mary, it must be beautiful over there. Our leaves are only just thinking about it, no turning yet! (except those few oak leaves who were ahead of the game!)
Diane I love the way you draw and paint. Have you been painting a long time. I started painting in 2014 and I’m not at ease as you are with my drawing and painting. Well I’m better at my painting. I do try and practice every day.
Hi Pat, thanks for your lovely message! Yes, I have been painting in watercolor since my teens, over half a century now! Some gaps in there for raising a famil. But for years now I’ve been dabbling regularly. Good luck with your watercolor journey! ❤️
I am beyond ready for fall! Love this tutorial!! Also, just an FYI, those etchr cards/envelopes are $61 for a box of 30 here in the states (from Cheap Joe's art supply, which is one of the better priced art supply companies)! That was quite a nice gift. 🥰
Yes, they are horribly expensive and completely unobtainable over here in France! I was quite pleased to receive them of course! They are very good quality paper and the envelopes are astounding! A very good gift for somebody who likes to paint cards I would say. Thanks so much for commenting!
That’s great to hear Cherri, so glad you enjoyed this little video! I was quite surprised how it turned out quite differently from what I had intended!

I love watching your hands move, everything you make turns to quinacridone gold♥️😉 ps Micron pens do not work on wet. Same as sharpies. They should be used when paint dries. That's why they stop working every time. #MostBeautifulHands #ThankfulForYou #AmazingArtist

I really love the autumnal colours in this tutorial. As a beginner I am looking forward to having a try at this one ❤
I am a beginner to watercolor and I find it sometimes to come up with my own designs. I learn a lot from you every time.

Hi Connie, so glad you found this video interesting, it’s an older one but I’m looking forward to autumn themes as well - happy painting!

Njoyed watching you create Autumn, and, Wow love the "From the Garden site" will be looking at those videos for sure, thx Diane
