I actually found that quite sad. She looked genuinely hurt, which no doubt also hurt him, as her son. Of course, it's nothing he can change, but it still wasn't easy to watch.
+GladShadd Doesn't matter. Even if there is free will, God knows the choices you will make if he is all knowing. If he didn't want people to become gay then he should not have created that mindset.
IF YOU ARE NOT IN A SAFE SITUATION DONT COME OUT! If you are a teenager who is relying on their parents to feed and clothe them and you know they wont take the news well for Christ's sake DONT DO IT. Seriously you could be kicked out, beaten half to death and end up committing suicide. When you are on your own two feet and you are ready both emotionally and financially by all means do come out. Im serious, I had a friend on tumblr who was so gung ho about coming out to her extremely conservative family on national coming out day. I warned her but she did it anyway. They kicked her out and now she's staying at her girlfriends house. Not everyone is so lucky. Please just be safe you guys.
***** That comment is so ridiculous. Its a parent's job to take care of their children. They should be ashamed of disowning their children for being themselves.
Lily Sandaver no, it depends on your situation. I just don't want people in unsafe situations to feel pressured to come out. There's like a six year old transgender girl who came out to her parents, I forget her name but her family accepted her and have even legally changed her birth name.Do whatever is best for you but be prepared for the consequences. Not everyone is in a family of bigots.
Steven Pruitt I always tell them that if it's a choice, then go ahead and be gay. Just for a few minutes, be gay. Be attracted to the same sex. Of course, if they're straight they can't do it... some might say that they can and there's nothing else you can do, but they'll know from then on that they couldn't do it and it helps them understand even if they won't admit it.
The best response to this nonsense is to also ask "So when did you choose to be straight?" of course they didn't ever "decide" to be straight, so they won't have an intelligible answer.
Doesitlook Gucci It's actually really simple. And forgive me if this reply comes off as being rude. 1. Do you enjoy the shape of the penis and other male genitalia and get turned on by such? If so, then you are gay. 2. Do you enjoy the looks of the female genitalia and get turned on by such? If so, then you are straight. 3. Are both of the above statements true? If so, then you are bisexual (and you are able to lean more one way than the other). 4. Are none of the above statements true? If so, then it is very well possible that you are asexual.
Just because someone "talks" gay or "looks" gay doesn't mean they are. Just because they may look like it doesn't mean that they are. Same goes the other way.
As a catholic, my job is to spread god's love. Doesn't matter who you are, or what you believe. I may disagree with your beliefs, but I respect you as a person. I do support the LGBT community, and dislike how people within my religion treat them wrongly. I apologize for any grief that my religion has caused you and I plead that you don't look down upon all of us due to a few bad apples.
+CajunJack1991 The whole "Against gays" part of the bible was made by a man who simply wanted to push his own beliefs to his community, thus put it in the bible. It wasn't quoted from Jesus or was within a letter from one of the disciples, or said from a prophet therefore it can be voided.
Well it is for some people - and actually there are a lot of days who love being distinguished from others because of their sexuality. gay clubs and bars, for example, have a particular vibe that cannot exist if a type of gay lifestyle had not existed. The narrative that really needs to be shut down is that we're all the same. We aren't.
It's not a sin, we were not asked to born this way, stop believing otherwise. And this is how my mother reacted, for real, she still thinks I can "turn straight". Poor guy, I feel so sorry for what he had to go through.
They haven't changed at all. They're pretending to be like that because of people like you. I feel bad for those poor, poor people who have to lie everyday.
LyricsYT If you don't believe that professing/practicing homosexuals have "changed," then you're living in your own conception. I had the odd fortune of growing up with about 50% bisexual/homosexual persons. Most, if not all of them are now either married w/children or are no longer homosexuals. And are you telling me that the ancients in Corinth were pretending???
Yes simply cus they want to go to heaven. You know, it is possible for bisexuals to have children. They are attracted to both. If they definitely are straight then they weren't gay in the first place, and were simply confused. Nothing more. And someone that was very religious (and gay) would go to extreme lengths as to being married and having children just to cover it up. But thankfully, homosexuals are being accepted more and more each year. #Equalityforall #Lovewins :)
LyricsYT The reality is that homosexuals should be fearful. The scriptures are clear, as is nature itself. To ACT on homosexual desires is contrary to both the will of God and to the ordinances of nature. No one should happily and blissfully practice their sin - heterosexually or homosexually. The worse condemnation is for those who are not themselves suffering from homosexuality, but who encourage those who do to keep practicing, despite knowing that it is against God's will. How do you interpret this: η ουκ οιδατε οτι αδικοι Θεου βασιλεαν ου κληρονομησουσιν, με πλανασθε, ουτε πορνοι, ουτε ειδωολατραι, ουτε μοιχοι, ουτε μαλακοι, ουτε αρσενοκοιται. "Or have you not all known that the unrighteous will not lawfully inherit the Kingdom of God. None of you all be deceived! Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, neither effeminate, neither homosexuals." - 1 Corinthians 6:9 You're free to do as you will, but know that it goes against God.
shaan0121 First, never resort to suicide, bro. As a heterosexual, married male, I will tell you earnestly that life is VERY MUCH possible even without a spouse/significant other. Relationships are far from a focal point of life. Even if forced to abstain from intimacy, go see the world. Learn languages. Do charity. Experience everything God has created and is doing. Secondly, I appreciate the transparency, but the argument is to fight one's nature. As an able-bodied male, I see attractive women all the time. Outside of relations, I get VERY angry, like murderously so. The important thing - biblically speaking - is to quell one's innate desires towards sin. We are all inclined toward sin; our human goal is to repent and rely on God to transform us, which we believe is possible (Mark 10:27). If you're an unbeliever, this obviously wouldn't apply. However, believers trust that God can do ANYTHING. The One who fashioned the infinite heavens above can surely give us new sexual desires. Much love, though. Never consider death over physical intimacy. The best love/sex isn't worth giving up all that God has created here and later.
I really don't like all the jokey comments on his headband or something when this when it is obviously a very sensitive topic and It really hurts because he was very brave to have a good talk and to see the mom so open minded (she's trying) and having also had a talk like this with my parents I know how hard it is I get that everyone is just joking and that's fine but I see a ton of 'I knew he was gay because of the headband' comments on here Anyway I just wanted to say that if you are reading this, You are an amazing person You are valid, whatever you are You are valuable to this earth Thank you for reading.
Hello, hi, proud member of the LGBT community here. Stop taking life so seriously. It’s a headband. It’s not that deep. Be safe in this world, you’re skins gonna need to thicken up queen 💖
electrocat1 Yeah, I'm strongly religious, but everyone around me, including my priest have never been anything but accepting of homosexuality. It makes me feel very fortunate thay we habe the religious belief but we don't condemn things like homosexuality ect. Blows my mind that people who claim to beleive what I do, insult my beleifs by targeting homosexuality. My priest always says, God is love, to deny anyone that love based on sexual orientation is to sin, because you deny them the love they deserve. In a world full of theives and murderers God doesn't bat an eye at homosexuality. A direct quote from my priest. "The bible says love thy neighbor, not love thy straight neighbor." It makes you a sinner to condemn or control anyone's actions, as God's greatest gift is free will. I understand many people don't beleive at all and that's fine too, just wanted to reassure people that there are rational believers like myself and the church I attend, who think suppression of sexuality and personal freedom is wrong as well. Being gay is the same as being straight.
A lot of people wear headbands for purposes such as fashion or to express spirituality, myself included at times. A piece of headgear doesn't make you gay.
+Sir William the Bard The only people who wear such things, are liberal males who are vegan(which goes hand in hand)which probably already like dick or a homosexual dude. People really need to use their brain better... the headgear doesn't make the person gay... it's just the kind of people who wear such things have a *very* strong tendency to be homosexual.
So... you're saying that the ripped, M60-wielding, headband-wearing badass played by Stallone, not to mention countless other action movie/game heroes, are more than half likely to be into men? 😂😂 Dude, I'm not being rude here, but that's almost as dumb as saying that most guys who wear skinny jeans are gay; I wear them on a constant basis, and I'm straighter than a factory-fresh nail. Jussayin'! 🙂😂
Thank you so much for sharing this. It is so hard being Christian and trying to change to do what the mainstream church thinks is right. When it feels wrong
Mom's World "I'd like to see your statistical data on that." I'd like to see statistical data from your side. Wanna be the pot or the kettle? "just because you are born with a sexual preference doesn't mean it's sinless...not in the eyes of the Christian God." Says you. "So, IF you are a Christian, you are committing a sin against God if you engage in homosexual/lesbian behavior." Says you. "If you're not a Christian, then it shouldn't matter to you, right?" Says you.
I could say that I'm a Christian, but I'd rather keep you guessing. Also, someone that disagrees with you and interprets sin differently isn't a troll. Also, tl;dr
"I call you a troll because you are" Oh boy here we go. "dodging" (no example given) "deflecting" (still no example given) "not forthcoming" (Bam, strikeout.)
God hates sin. He loves us and calls us to repentance. And yes, homosexuality, as in all sin, can be forgiven and overcome in Christ. Don't believe Satan's lies. No one is born a homosexual.
Bloody Hell. He had to show facts and resources he gathered on the internet to prove that he was worthy of his mothers love. Why was the mothers mindset Bible over son? Religion is so manipulative, it damages our society
I came here from the video of coming out to dad. The last words here from both parents made me tear up immediately. Your parents are wonderful people to put aside their beliefs for the love of their son. This was so beautiful ♥️
Let us not rush to judge the mother or father, as they did a heroic job coming from they are in their background and understanding and belief. There still is freedom of religion and freedom of thought allowed BY THE CONSTITUTION in the USA. The young man could do this video BECAUSE HE TRUSTED HIS PARENTS LOVE AND CARING FOR HIS WELL BEING.
theonlymeaning doesn't matter there background that's your kid and you still need to show your kid the love and care they deserve. Which the father obviously did better than the mom
+Noah Tharp its funny because you interpreted what was written in the bible the way you wanted but if you do it for other things in the bible its heretic by way the did the apostles or jesus said anything about that subject or crazy priests in the dark ages is it realy possible that the one who said dont judge or you are going to be judged discard this people for what they simply want
+42OuncesofPAIN I want an actual picture of God. Actual proof. Not something made off of belief. No damn "miracle" stories that have been fabricated to make it look like God had everything to do with it. Go on and stone a woman to death
+miyukithefoxfurry Well I search on youtube, I see Homosexual in Hell. A woman sees homosexual in hell. If she didn't see it. then she wouldn't share it
Drew Carter I congratulate your love, your courage and your patient with your parents. I think that any enlightened parent in this world would want to have a son like you. I'm sorry that religion has clouded your parents reasoning so deeply. Being gay is a present from God. He made you that way and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Thank you so much for sharing your video. There are so many kids that will feel that they are not alone. I love you for that.
I know this video is almost two years old and I know this is your mom but it's so astounding that it's always heterosexual people that have fallen in love, gotten married, had children, did the whole romance thing that are very very quick to sentence us to a life of celibacy and loneliness. It's easy to throw celibacy out there as an option when you've been married for 5, 10, 20, 30 years... but when you're young and you've never been in love for someone to condemn you to a life of loneliness like that... it's terrible. I wonder how she feels now?
Yeah, honestly it's hypocritical of them. They are allowed love and lifelong commitments with someone special that they cherish. And sex is considered a good thing. But if you happen to not share the same orientation as them, welp, sucks for you. Love is not allowed FOR YOU. A relationship/marriage is not allowed anymore, FOR YOU. Sex? HA! You are never allowed the same things they celebrate every day. It truly disturbs me. One of the cruelest things I see everyday is the celebration of love and marriage by everyone I know. And then they go straight out to boycott the slightest spottings of equality progressing in the world. The very same thing profess to hold dear, they rip it apart from us.
It's not horrible. You have to be understanding. Look at gay culture... it's trashy, vapid, superficial, hyper-sexualized... any Christian would be afraid of their child ending up like that. Not to mention they worry about their soul and all of that. Disagreeing with your child is not abuse. As an adult you don't need your parents to support everything you do, she loves him unconditionally.
poodlestyle33 It's not any better when the heterosexuals on the left want us to have marriage when they think it is trash. At least those people uphold it as something valuable and worthwhile. You're never going to change someone's mind by whining about other people's views. You don't need everyone to validate and agree with you. Just live your best life, get married and make it the best marriage ever. If that's what you want, if you don't, then let it go...
@@GraphicallyAlex It’s only that way because of being ostracized for decades. As marriage equality continues, you’ve started seeing LGBT people assimilate into mainstream (getting married, having kids, getting real boring too lol).
I come from an evangelical family. I was always taught that I was "fearfully and wonderfully made." I was taught "judge not lest ye be judged." I was taught that Jesus loves each one of us, period. The phrase, "What would Jesus do?" always comes to mind. The hypocrisy of some Christians blows my mind. If they preach that God loves us no matter what, then how can they condemn homosexuality (or any other differences for that matter)? I believe that Christians should be the most loving, forgiving, accepting people. I'm so glad your parents have not pushed you away. You are blessed. ❤
I say this with all due respect my friend, I believe God made 2 genders for a reason, Male and Female, so that they could have children of their own, not for the sexual pleasure itself. The NIV student edition of Genesis 1:28 says this: God blessed them and said to them; "Be fruitful and increase in numbers; fill the earth and subdue it." God is telling us to "increase in numbers" but how can we do that with 2 of the same genders having intercourse? I believe God did not create it for pleasure, but allowed it anyway, and while we can do it for the pleasure, we really need to use it for what it was intended for. Have a blessed day my friend.
3 yr. later here, I hope you have compassion for yourself. For many of us, that is the hardest thing to do- it is easier to have compassion for others.
"The Bible says.... (then ignores 99% of other things the Bible says is wrong, yet fools himself into thinking they're devout followers of their favorite dead Jew)" - Modern Christian
Many of us just say we are, but don't live up to it. You see, you're right about ignoring things. Just like everything in Modern Society, people take out only the things they like and ignore the things they dont. I'm not going to shove my religion down your throat for insulting is, either, so don't start anything with me please 😂
The more I research and view coming out videos the more I realize that I am not alone. All your feelings are so much like mine. I am a Christian Man and I love the LORD. I am tired of thinking I am a mistake. I am tired of not able to love who I do or will love. tired of the pain and anger and I don't have the will power anymore to be someone who I am not anymore. Thank you for your video. It is helping accept myself.....
As a former Christian, I feel for the mom. She's dead wrong, of course, but you have to realize that she believes that her son is going to be in hell for this. I imagine this is a scary thought for any mother. It's horrible how these myths can divide families, but when you really believe that someone is going to go to hell, you get scared. I know I was terrified for my friends and family that didn't become Christian. I really thought they were going to be punished, and I didn't want that for them. LATER I learned that God is such a different creature than humans paint him/her to be. Evil pastors who want your money use the concept of God as this condemning thing to scare you into obedience. But it's all lies made by greedy men.
Many times a coming-out forces family members to question their ill-examined commitments. I can see the gears turning in mom's face in the video. Let us hope!
Exactly! Only a former fundamentalist Christian (which is also me; I am now an atheist) can fully understand how real the belief in hell is, and how horrifying it is to contemplate unsaved friends and family going there. That is what some of my fellow atheists will never fully grasp. Yes, there are plenty of bible thumpers who are filled with hate, but I also know quite a few who are genuine in their concern for the souls of gay people as well as unbelievers in general. I think they are incredibly wrong, but I do understand them!
I'm an atheist, but I was born in a traditionally catholic family. My mother taught me about religion when I was a child, but never pushed it into me. I am baptized but didn't receive the first communion because at ten years old, I decided not to and she accepted it. However my grandmother was horrified for many years that I hadn't received communion. I was very upset about this at first, until my mother took me aside and explained to me that she believed in hell because she needed to. My grandmother had a hard life and lived through a civil war that tore her family apart, and she needed to believe that evil would eventually meet punishment. She was just worried about me. She also acted like that when my cousin gave birth and decided not to baptize the child. Most of my family is religious but don't really focus on hell or sins, and they are modern, tolerant people. But nobody really blames her for her narrow beliefs, we just dance around the topic. I'm pretty sure she loves me, but I don't know if she would still talk to me if she knew I am bisexual. Faith is a complex, sometimes dark thing.
Your Mom (and Dad) are so loving, gentle, and faithful to the Lord. God has given you a beautiful family to grow up in. We can agree to disagree - but always l♥ve each other.
Drew, I just watched your coming out to Mom & Dad videos. Thank you so much for sharing them with the world. Your whole thought process of knowing at a young age and the whole thought of being celibate and putting up walls, the sin, and the corrective therapy everything in your video is exactly my life story too. You did such a wonderful job with this and I can tell your happy with who you are, and I see the relief of having such a heavy weight lifted off of your shoulders. Your such an inspiration. I'm 50 yrs old, and have basically had a wall up my whole life living two separate lives. Although I'm sure most who know me have probably had their suspicion it's never been a topic of conversation. I accepted I was gay to myself many years ago and have gay friends. I am actually ready to tear down the walls and just be me. Thank You for being the wonderful person you are. Brad Goodman
I could tell 3 seconds in that this guy was gay. How could his mom not know for however long he's been her son (at the time of filming)? Just goes to show how in denial christians can be.
***** You're both right and wrong. Right about personality, wrong about me playing on stereotypes. He's practically a clone of a friend of mine. It was actually kind of creepy. When we watched this video together, he nearly crapped himself because how similar the two were.
i dont mean to be rude or anything, but i believe gay people are the savior of this world. This world would be miserable without them xD they lead happy lives with happy spirits and take opportunity like no other. I admire them, even tho i am not gay myself, i admire them.
Bloke Poppy being a complete dick to people for no reason. I know u are from some third world country because I can tell, probably the middle east or something because its only u people who talk to people like this
I’m a bisexual Baptist Christian and I know that God loves me no matter what. He’s still sending me blessings and taking care of me. I’m so proud of you!
The fact you have so much respect for your parents speaks volumes about you ❤ You cannot change who you are for anybody or anything. You get one life and you must live it to the fullest ❤ I hope you are living yours ❤
bran m, I'm so sorry. That must have been heartbreaking for you. You can't live your life just to make your parents or anyone else happy. Live your life, love whoever you fall in love with. Do what makes you happy. Your comment is from 2 years ago, so I'm hoping that your mother has come around. If not, she may still some day. I believe that parents should want their kids to be happy, in whatever form that takes. I'm so happy for you that you have your father's love and acceptance. No one has any power over who they fall in love with. My belief is that, love is love, love is positive, it's precious and it should not be viewed as a negative thing. I know I don't know you, I will never know you, but I'm so proud of you for having the courage to be yourself. I wish you love and happiness in your life. Much love and hugs, Me. 😚❤
I feel like this was the perfect way to come out, his explanation was so well said and he obviously put a lot of good research into it. If I ever am able to safely come out to my family, I hope to be this sure of my position and have research and resources like he did. Very inspiring video, thank you.
Theres something i dont get. Why are people hating on christians if there are a lot that are nice and accept them? There are athiests out there that hate gays too... Everyone has there opinions and thats just life. There are a bunch of groups of people that are hated, so why cant people just deal with it? Is it that big of a problem?
I come from a devout catholic family and I support gays. Not all christians are hateful, after all, Jesus simply taught us to love one another. People who are hateful, aren't practicing true christian values.
Nikolai Belinski So you favor an atheist that doesn't have any reason to hate? hate is hate. period. And first of all, just because we don't agree with it doesn't mean we hate.
Michelle Bernal I totally agree with you. Jess is the reflection of a perfect love. So if people claim to be Christian don't show that to anyone, they are in the wrong.
Well. Jesus said the only commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Being gay doesn't mean you're against God, it's just means your gay and Jesus has no issues with it. You can be gay and still love God and be Christian, popular to contrary belief. One thing though, I'm not looking too start an argument. If you want to judge and hate people for being gay, remember Jesus did say, he who is without sin; cast the first stone. The book of Matthew says Judge not or you will be judged the way you judge others.
I'm really glad that this video's on youtube. I was always fairly sure my parents would be find with it (and they were) but there's so many young people across the world who have conservative religious parents like yours. They need to know that there's hope for them too, and that even if their parents struggle to accept them or their "lifestyle" it doesn't mean that they don't love them.
Drew, I just watched the video with your dad before this one and couldn't help but feel sad. There you were sharing an intimate part of yourself and although it went fine enough, I couldn't help but wish he would have stood up and given you a hug... and this time was worse. You are so thoughtful, so gentle with your parents and your mom's first thought was about how God could change things. That's wonderful that they love you and I realize it isn't the most comfortable topic for some, but wow. Hopefully they've adjusted.
agnostic atheist, and even though i am agnostic, all people here is atheist which makes me sound like a worship Satan, but i wish the world was nicer and more open, i fully respect LGBTQ+, and i'm bisexual, but not people i don't believe in a god, but because it's who i am. religion and sexual orientation have NOTHING in common.
I have a hard time dealing with people who call themselves atheists. You cannot seriously believe that there isn't a higher power that governs our universe. Our universe is too complex to have just happened by chance. I was raised as a Catholic, but I now call myself an agnostic because I still have to figure out what makes sense and what does not. It might take years or a lifetime, but you always have to keep an open mind.
I believe in God and God comes first in my life. Drew is so brave and amazing. I believe that all sexualities are apart of our human experiences. What I learned of God? God loves ALL. God Bless you Drew :) Many Blessings
This is the most well-planned coming out I have seen:):) Glad to see that even though both parents were rather unforgiving in the past, they were both capable of and willing to change and glad to see that they were both filled with so much love:)!
The bible also says: don't shave, don't cut hair, don't get divorced and a lot of other crazy stuff. REad the whole thing - the fastest way to turn into atheism ;D
the excuse most people of christ religions would say is the things you mentioned are of the old testament so those rules no longer apply to them anymore cause of Jesus' new testament
You need to know the difference between individual tribal rituals and moral Truths that Jesus Himself proclaimed. Divorce is an imperfection of marriage. It is wrong, yet it occurs in almost 50% of all marriages today. "Don't shave" and "don't cut hair" is not in there, buddy. ;P
Wow! This is so cool! Thank you for posting these. I think it's obvious that God has chosen for you to be a leader in your family, for you to help them know and love others with an even deeper understanding. It's amazing that you've been so courageous as to not shy away from this.
Congratulations for standing up for yourself and declaring who you are. I hope your mom will realize it's more important to love and believe in you than an invisible and inaudible sky man that has never been proven to exist.
Boy, are you completely in denial and blinded. Gravity was never proven to exist. Evolution was never proven to exist. Plate tectonics, quantum theory, oxygen theory of combustion.....never 100% "proven to exist". Yet we believe in them. Why? Because of that little ounce of faith in the scientific field. Faith is what leads us to belief. If you only believe what is 100% proven, you must be an ignorant idiot. haha :)
I don't get religion It must feel terrible to be told by some one such as your mother who Is supposed to give you unconditional love... That you are a sin I am 110 % atheist mostly because believing in god and who ever and whatever else... Stops you from loving people and excepting people If I had the power to change one thing in this world then I would wipe out religion like it had never existed could you imagine the world peace and how much more love and equality this world would have?? If god lets family's disown their own relatives then god sucks (Insert middle finger emoji) Plus he's never been proven so ya know Let the comment war begin......
This is a good video, and similar to my situation. My parents are both Christian and I've come out to them as both gay and transgender. I've come to the same conclusion, that the bible does not in fact say that you cannot be gay. I consider myself a Christian still, and I think that the way I am is perfect and exactly what God wanted because he's the one who made me. My parents don't really accept my "lifestyle" either, which is very disappointing, but expected I supposed. Way to go on coming out because that's... such a nerve-wracking and difficult thing to do.
I feel you. I'm a transgenderist with AGP and recently came out to my mother. She's a former Catholic and is as accepting as a 74 y/o can be, so you and I are not exactly in the same boat. However, it was/is still incredibly difficult, for reasons that I will not discuss in public. My mom doesn't fully understand my gender identity, and perhaps she never will, but she is loving, and trying to adapt and be accommodating. Perhaps discuss James 4:10-12 with your family. :-) Best!
I'm not gay, but I find myself watching a lot of videos like this, because I am so moved by the bravery and honesty and compassion - I so admire you and your parents for showing all these things to each other. I'm so glad they both said how much they love you.
I used to be quite evangelical and I know the Bible quite well... but I am now agnostic. The Bible clearly says homosexuality is sin - Old and New Testament. But if God really is "is the same yesterday and today and forever" then it is the same god that once said people couldn't eat shellfish, wear mixed linens, restricted the disabled from participating in giving offerings, required rape victims to marry their rapist... and the same god that killed 42 kids with bears because they made fun of a prophet... So.. I wouldn't put too much stock into what the Bible says.
Tony Maholski www.google.co.za/amp/s/gotquestions.org/amp/Deuteronomy-22-28-29-marry-rapist.html read that about rape victims and this carm.org/why-did-god-kill-42-lads-merely-saying-elisha-was-bald about the bears. I hope this helps.
When I made a post on Instagram that said I'm bisexual, my Christian mom and dad told me to delete it immediately. They told me that people are being killed just because of who they like and being gay in any way is a sin, and I should be sure about my sexuality when I'm 18. It scared me and I need positive reinforcement.
WTF...?! Why would they warn you that people are being killed by homophobes because of who they like, and then immediately take the homophobes' side?!? Their response makes literally no sense, and you shouldn't even give that opinion another second of your time. There is NOTHING wrong with being any form of LGBTQ+ -- it hurts NO ONE and is an integral part of your character, Samuel. If you try to deny it as an adult because someone else told you to, you will be pushed into a miserable life that you absolutely do not deserve. Is there a homophobic climate where you live? If so, how long will it be before you can get out? Do you know anyone whom you can count on to support LGBTQ+ rights (a school guidance counsellor or nurse, perhaps)? If there is anyone about, I would advise you to tell them about your parents' attitude immediately. If not, check the phone book for gay rights support groups in your area, or seek help online. Don't listen to any "it's a sin" beliefs -- however harshly they might resonate with you, this attitude is extremely harmful and wrong. This might have been a tough setback, but don't let it get to you. Seek out options outside of your home and you will find supporters. Just know that there are many, many people who have your back. Best of luck to you.
It’s ridiculous to think that being gay is a choice. I’m straight, but I didn’t like sit down with a “Sexuality Borchure” and like go over my options. I liked girls when I was 5 and I still like them now. It just happened.
@@Vekikev1 shut up 10% ppl in America is gay and ppl are still having kids....gay ppl can have kids ....everyone is not gay and everyone is not st8 get over it
@@Vekikev1 Being gay is natural, it's to control the procreation rate, and it's how you give orphaned or abused children more adoptive parents to look after them.
When I was young, I made fun of and neglected fat kids in my school. I looked down and bullied kids who were labeled as "geeks" and "loners". I was a terrible human being. BUT never once in my life have I ever discriminated or condescended the gay community, for one reason: There was no logic nor reason for me to do so. We make fun of fat people because of their inferior features, we ignore and bully the quiet kids because they're easy targets. So why do we hate gay people? Just why? Because some book claimed it's sinful? Now I'm not saying I condone the act of bullying and discriminating the weak for they stem from concrete reasons, I'm saying why in the world would people hate on something, SO PASSIONATELY, for absolutely no logical reason? They're just people, doing people things. To all the homophobes: what in the world are you up to? I am seriously, GENUINELY, asking you, because I am confused. ?????????????????????????????????????
+TongueSnap = Most people do not HATE gays. Seriously, very few. The issue is that people have opinions/beliefs that something may not be good. Then, there is a strong agenda that pushes it's opposing agenda in their faces. The people are made to choose whether they accept it or not. If they do not accept it as "good" and change their opinion, they are labeled Hater, Phobic, Ugly, Murderers, etc. That makes it a public fight and it then becomes a hateful threatening agenda that **witholds love** unless you DO what the agenda says: "Accept our way of thinking about this issue, or we will never see you again!" Families are destroyed because there is NO tolerance for differing opinions. Whatever happened to "agree to disagree" and "we still love each other." ? It's a brutal agenda, ready to destroy all who get in it's way.
i was spreading hate to gay videos of coming out, or things like this, this is my most greatest regret, not until a couple months ago... i found out. most gays start out by spreading hate... until they relise that they are what they hate... but now i am gay and happy
My mom knew i was gay since i was 3 years old and when i was around 20 i told her i was gay and she didn't care one bit! My mom had gay friends went to gay bars with her friends so yeah! I have the best mother ever.
WHAT an AWESOME dude you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish we were on the same continent as I would have taken the train for 40 days and 40 nights to take you out for a cup of coffee and hug you for hours I am so very happy for you that you gathered the courage and strength to do this and free your soul and heart from the silence!! You are soooooooo courageous as I can SEE just how very, very difficult this was for you to do!!! Hugs great guy!!!! xxxxxxx
Why do people have to continue on fighting over this. We need to accept that people can believe whatever they want to believe but as long as it doesn't hurt others in ANY way. We already know that being gay is not something we become or chose, it is something people are born with. Stop patronizing them. If religions want to continue to have followers they better adjust their old teachings.
This is so sad and difficult. Obviously the person coming out wants their parent to be accepting right away, but people like this really and truly believe that gay acts are a sin and when it's that ingrained in them, I think that they are scared FOR you, more than embarrassed of or ashamed by you in most cases. It takes a long time for people accept this for someone like that.
March 31, 2023 I came out to my mother on my 25th birthday over the phone by telling her to guess what I’ve been dealing with (only 3 guesses). First she said “you’re depressed?” and I said obviously and told to guess again and she asked if I was gay and it took a few moments but I took a deep breath, said “yes” and she said something like “yeah kinda figured, don’t really care, love you no matter what.” Totally shocked I said “alright, alright, alright. Love you mucho” and that was pretty much it. That’s why I was drinking so much because I kept it hidden for so long and finally snapped after getting drunk on my birthday and coming out. Sorry for the memoir, may all be blessed and don’t be afraid to come out or be yourself. All good souls deserve happiness 💙❤️
Terry J haha I did that to my mom. She yelled at me and did not take me seriously. To this day she thinks I was joking (I've told her multiple times I was serious). it's been two years. isn't that crazy xD *cries a bit*
Giovana trevizan Haha believe it or not I had a very similar situation. My parents are split up and I told my mom and she believed me right off the bat and was very understanding. My dad on the other hand says he doesnt believe me. I personally think he just doesnt WANT to believe me. Hes very rational (besides his belief in God) and me and him rarely joke like that. Either way the key is to not try to shove it down their throats. It isnt important to me whether they believe me or not. It is important that I told them.
this is exactly how I sit my mom down before I tell her I drank her last coke.

I like how some Christians say God made you the way he wanted you to be, but get mad when people are gay.
+GladShadd maybe because your so called "God" doesn't think its a sin at all??

So basically don't come up until I'm 22+?
Lily Sandaver no, it depends on your situation. I just don't want people in unsafe situations to feel pressured to come out. There's like a six year old transgender girl who came out to her parents, I forget her name but her family accepted her and have even legally changed her birth name.Do whatever is best for you but be prepared for the consequences. Im not gay and still dont see how anyone can believe its a choice. It confuses me to no end.
Sexuality confuses me because it’s like you can choose who you like, but at the same time you can’t. It’s a lot, so I just don’t like anyone.
Doesitlook Gucci
It's actually really simple.
Anonymous AJ Still do you choose to like those or do you like them because you were born that way. That's what I'm talking about.

The whole "Against gays" part of the bible was made by a man who simply wanted to push his own beliefs to his community, thus put it in the bible. It wasn't quoted from Jesus or was within a letter from one of the disciples, or said from a prophet therefore it can be voided.

being gay isnt a lifestyle smh, need to stop that narrative
Well it is for some people - and actually there are a lot of days who love being distinguished from others because of their sexuality. gay clubs and bars, for example, have a particular vibe that cannot exist if a type of gay lifestyle had not existed. The narrative that really needs to be shut down is that we're all the same. We aren't.
There's no scientific evidence that supports people are born homosexual.
AMEN! I hate when people say the gay lifestyle
There is also no scientific evidence that sexuality can be changed :)
Death ToTruthers Bravo, fellow warrior.
How do you interpret this:
η ουκ οιδατε οτι αδικοι Θεου βασιλεαν ου κληρονομησουσιν, με πλανασθε, ουτε πορνοι, ουτε ειδωολατραι, ουτε μοιχοι, ουτε μαλακοι, ουτε αρσενοκοιται.
"Or have you not all known that the unrighteous will not lawfully inherit the Kingdom of God. None of you all be deceived! Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, neither effeminate, neither homosexuals." - 1 Corinthians 6:9
You're free to do as you will, but know that it goes against God.
shaan0121 First, never resort to suicide, bro.
I really don't like all the jokey comments on his headband or something when this when it is obviously a very sensitive topic and It really hurts because he was very brave to have a good talk and to see the mom so open minded (she's trying) and having also had a talk like this with my parents I know how hard it is

Hello, hi, proud member of the LGBT community here. Stop taking life so seriously. It’s a headband. It’s not that deep. Be safe in this world, you’re skins gonna need to thicken up queen 💖
Lighten up, it’s funny.
She was praying for him? Look at what they did to their kid, he was miserable. Suppression of sexuality is cruelty.
electrocat1 Yeah, I'm strongly religious, but everyone around me, including my priest have never been anything but accepting of homosexuality.
Jack Package sounds like a good priest. Thanks for sharing.
electrocat1 He really is a great man, proud to know him. Happy to share some positives.
electrocat1. You should go into the lives of people that have actually been abused. Not praying for someone.
david otuwa actually been abused? Emotional abuse isn't real? You're an abuse enabler. And that's nice you're not praying for someone. Neither am I.

A lot of people wear headbands for purposes such as fashion or to express spirituality, myself included at times. A piece of headgear doesn't make you gay.
Sir William the Bard Completely agreed!!

Wow. Quite hard. Very brave to do that. I hope it works out with your mother. All the best for the future.
"she loves him unconditionally" No she doesn´t.
Have a blessed day my friend.
your'e dad honestly took it wayy better than your'e mother which is surprising.

MirrorWitch13 i would just love my son or daughter, and i always would support them even if i belive in god, i would think god is wrong
MirrorWitch13 i so understand you!
MiniDoesGames You would have to be an inbred Mongloid to not know he was gay. The colorful head piece and the voice? Are u fucking dense
NerdStoryteller You could only "tell" by playing on stereotypes. Personality doesn't equal sexuality.
*****
You're both right and wrong. Right about personality, wrong about me playing on stereotypes. He's practically a clone of a friend of mine. It was actually kind of creepy. When we watched this video together, he nearly crapped himself because how similar the two were.
NerdStoryteller Call it what you wish, it's still assuming something about someone based on their personality.
MiniDoesGames You are grasping at straws with that reply
i dont mean to be rude or anything, but i believe gay people are the savior of this world. This world would be miserable without them xD they lead happy lives with happy spirits and take opportunity like no other. I admire them, even tho i am not gay myself, i admire them.
Bloke Poppy u are a nice person, i can really tell
Bloke Poppy why are u being like this? do u actually enjoy being horrible to people?
Bloke Poppy then u must enjoy it, as you simply didn't need to say a word. Idiot.
Bloke Poppy being a complete dick to people for no reason. I know u are from some third world country because I can tell, probably the middle east or something because its only u people who talk to people like this
Bloke Poppy so an opinion justifies blind insults?
I’m a bisexual Baptist Christian and I know that God loves me no matter what. He’s still sending me blessings and taking care of me. I’m so proud of you!
God loves all Gay people but Not their Sin!!
Open your heart to him to change you and he will
This is a spiritual battle believe me pls
@@lisethsearle5457Man shut the fuck up. Why would being gay have any reason to be a sin? My God.
You were so calm and confident , that's admirable! You're such an inspiration (:
In the back of her mind? How could anybody NOT know he's gay?
how'd u mean?
+lll The way he talks and other social queue's can show someone is gay. I mean it's not full proof but, it can be possible
Chillary Clinton the way someone talks or acts doesn't determine who their attracted to
I know, like I said it is not 100%, but people that are gay have a different personality.
lll It's hard to explain but men who are gay have different hormones then people who are not causing them to act different.
The fact you have so much respect for your parents speaks volumes about you ❤ You cannot change who you are for anybody or anything. You get one life and you must live it to the fullest ❤ I hope you are living yours ❤
my dad loved me for who i was my mom never wanted to see me again
😭😭😭
well I love you for who you are....sorry about your mom tho 💙
I'm sorry. That isn't a parent's love, turning their back on their children.
nice, have a like
bran m, I'm so sorry. 😚❤
well this is the most awkward situation
Most of the time it's like that when you're coming out. It's hard to completely say it when you're well aware of the reaction of the person
NJAY8/16/08 but..he did completely say it
94hkkh that's why it's awkward. Yes he said it, and he's brave for doing it
NJAY8/16/08 yes
I feel like this was the perfect way to come out, his explanation was so well said and he obviously put a lot of good research into it. If I ever am able to safely come out to my family, I hope to be this sure of my position and have research and resources like he did. Very inspiring video, thank you.
Theres something i dont get. Why are people hating on christians if there are a lot that are nice and accept them? There are athiests out there that hate gays too... Everyone has there opinions and thats just life. There are a bunch of groups of people that are hated, so why cant people just deal with it? Is it that big of a problem?
I'm sure there are atheist that hate gays but not for the same reason, not for some book that says its a "sin" to be gay
So if people claim to be Christian don't show that to anyone, they are in the wrong.
catherine tran THANK YOU
its clear she is torn between her love you and the (for lack of a better word) brain washing from her church! Well done on being so brave and honest!
As an atheist I get so pissed off when religious people dont accept others. Im happy it went well for you man!! 👍
I am conservative and Christian and still support the lgbtq community, heck, I even have a BFF in it!
@@mossconnolsseur :)
I'm really glad that this video's on youtube. I was always fairly sure my parents would be find with it (and they were) but there's so many young people across the world who have conservative religious parents like yours. They need to know that there's hope for them too, and that even if their parents struggle to accept them or their "lifestyle" it doesn't mean that they don't love them.
i like your mom Drew, she obviously loves you so much.
Babe I am so proud of you. You're an incredible, strong, and kind soul. Subscribed! Xo

Hopefully they've adjusted.
i dont care for religion, i would prefer that people be atheists, but i support religious people. I am pansexual.
why would you support people to be atheist? its crazy
how is it crazy?
LeninIsRoyHarper256 same minus being Pan I might be gay though MIGHT
agnostic atheist, and even though i am agnostic, all people here is atheist which makes me sound like a worship Satan, but i wish the world was nicer and more open, i fully respect LGBTQ+, and i'm bisexual, but not people i don't believe in a god, but because it's who i am. religion and sexual orientation have NOTHING in common.
You have obviously never read the bible...
the excuse most people of christ religions would say is the things you mentioned are of the old testament so those rules no longer apply to them anymore cause of Jesus' new testament
You need to know the difference between individual tribal rituals and moral Truths that Jesus Himself proclaimed. Divorce is an imperfection of marriage. It is wrong, yet it occurs in almost 50% of all marriages today. "Don't shave" and "don't cut hair" is not in there, buddy. ;P
Cherry Kitty But killing pigs. Thats way too far. But yah, Christianity is a plauge.
Lord Sheogorath killing pigs?
Wonderful outcome! Lucky family - there's so much love!
My parents are assholes because I'm atheist, but they're ok that I'm transgender lesbian.
If you only believe what is 100% proven, you must be an ignorant idiot. haha :)
Cherry Kitty
Blah blah blah!
yootoob1958 blah blah blah....keep whining, little baby....just like the rest of your delusional ppl.
yootoob1958 sorry
Yes. You are pretty sorry. I don't put up with rude and decisive people like you who ad hominem. Keep your bullshit to yourself!
I don't get religion
It must feel terrible to be told by some one such as your mother who Is supposed to give you unconditional love... That you are a sin
I am 110 % atheist mostly because believing in god and who ever and whatever else... Stops you from loving people and excepting people
If I had the power to change one thing in this world then I would wipe out religion like it had never existed could you imagine the world peace and how much more love and equality this world would have??
If god lets family's disown their own relatives then god sucks

Well now that's a bit uncalled for.
I'm not clicking that.
You are so strong. Really dazzling videos of both of your parents. Very powerful and important. I don't think I could do what you did. Thank you.
Not a sin. Not a problem. Let people be gay if that's what makes them happy.
You are a fool.
Tony Maholski Fool
Because Proverbs tells you I am?
You don't know the bible at all.
That Mom should of said. I love you just the way you are
Fascinating. All the best young man, takes balls to stand up for yourself like that.
C.J. Stanbridge Thank you so much!
No problem. From gay-friendly St. John's, Canada, I'm glad to offer assistance to anyone in tough situations.

It’s ridiculous to think that being gay is a choice. I’m straight, but I didn’t like sit down with a “Sexuality Borchure” and like go over my options. I liked girls when I was 5 and I still like them now. It just happened.
Being straight is natural, it's for procreation, it's how the next generation is made.
@@Vekikev1 shut up 10% ppl in America is gay and ppl are still having kids....gay ppl can have kids ....everyone is not gay and everyone is not st8 get over it
@@MyLife_1988 You are such low IQ
And you don't "choose" to be right or left handed either.
It's a brutal agenda, ready to destroy all who get in it's way.
are you telling me its OK to bully fat and other kids.
but if their gay you just back off?
+DonTron 420 no....they literally said in their comment that they do not condone bullying....did you read the entire comment?
ah I see
i was spreading hate to gay videos of coming out, or things like this, this is my most greatest regret, not until a couple months ago... i found out. most gays start out by spreading hate... until they relise that they are what they hate... but now i am gay and happy

Next, coming out to your parents you dont believe in God anymore
Your parents coming out to you about santa claus being real
Trust me, it fucking sucks
