I dont think Microsoft really cares about the console wars. They are trying to be the Netflix of gaming and i think they are in a pretty good position for that. This is a console war where there is no real competition in my opinion. Everyone is doing something diff. I personally as a PC player am interested to see how it goes.

For me im gonna start with Xbox because it’s cheaper, since I’m right now helping pay a lot of things in my house. Down the line when I get enough cash, i’ll get the Playstation. Love both brands and of course Nintendo always here.
Well you can say that PC and Xbox are the same entity, since most PC's run on Windows and Xbox tries to cater more to PC players by giving us games.
When a console gets better hardware we in the PC world typically also get better parts. Case in point the new 30 series is a massive leap. Unfortunately the drivers are not great so I won't buy them yet but the leap is incredible.

Console Wars are dumb and pointless. Each platform offers very good things. In terms of specs, the difference is barely noticeable. So it all comes down on what you prefer. Xbox has Halo and Gears Of War. Two franchises that I absolutely adore. So I will get a Series X because of them. Playstation has God Of War and Demon Souls, and thats why I''ll get a PS5 as well. Again, it all comes down to what you prefer. No console is better than the other, it is all subjective to your own personal preference.
What you cannot deny, is that Sony can spit in the mouth of their users and they will swallow without thinking. And that Xbox knows that, and thats why it is targetting a broader demographic with PC and Gamepass

Almost 20 years later and people are still putting Halo combat evolved music in their videos. Truly one of the greatest games ever made. I love and have played halo all my life and it makes me so happy that these games are not being forgotten no matter how old they become. I really hope Halo Infinite is good and the Halo franchise can reclaim the popularity that it had during the Bungie era of halo.

As much as it pains me to say this, I don't think the Bungie era will ever return. However, I'm pretty confident that Infinite will be by far 343's best Halo of their trilogy, and it will definitely be one of my favourite games of 2021. Just from hearing the scores that they've posted on the Halo channel gives me confidence. Just listen to "Reverie" and "Through the trees" and you'll see what I mean. Hail to the Chief.

I feel like this is your primary issue with Xbox, that the new gen doesn't offer games you wouldn't be able to play on the One. That's fair. Meanwhile you praise Sony & the PS5, but gladly ignore the fact that Spider-Man MM, Horizon 2, etc are ALSO coming to the PS4, so what reason do you really have to "upgrade" to the next generation of playstation, by the same logic?
The amount of flack that MS got for still supporting the One, while Sony were dishonest & berated MS for this decision only to do the EXACT same damn thing is honestly pretty absurd. I'm not denying that Sony has better exclusives overall (although I think this conversation will change dramatically in 2 to 3 years from now) but the PS5 objectively doesn't really offer anything you can't play on other consoles either. You have PS exclusives that are playable on the PS4, you have remakes or timed exclusives. But I guess they have the Black Ops alpha so yay PS5, I guess? Like anyone gives a fuck about a CoD demo.
Also, that last trailer for PS absolutely did not show "all these amazing franchises that can only be played on the PS5" (or the PS4 for that matter). Most were old games. Some were multiplats. Very few were actual PS5 exclusives. If those small teasers got you hyped (which is totally fair), why are you so annoyed by MS showing only small teasers of what's to come? They have already shown MORE trailers for future exclusives than Sony has.
Again, I don't mind these standards or that you prefer PS or anything like that. But you don't apply these standards fairly & I honestly think your decision here has been highly influenced by your general disappointment with Xbox from the last generation, instead of looking objectively at the new generation without thinking of the dark days that came before.
You don't mention ANYTHING of Sony's anti-consumer behavior lately. You claim that Sony copied many of Xbox's "quality of life" services, but that's simply not even remotely true. Sony offers no alternative to Gamepass. Xbox Live is still widely superior to PSN (just look at things like internet speeds). Xbox offers BC across all generation & hardware, Sony does NONE of that. And so on.

Honestly in the beginning when you said that a new console release marks a new era in your life, I actually felt that. When the 360 came out I was chillin as a kid in school growing up and playing games, when the One came out I was getting ready for after high school, and now with the Series X I’m moving out with my girlfriend and I can’t wait to see how it’s going to shake out.

To be honest, the last time I was really excited was when the PS2 was being released. The Japanese games like Dead or Alive, Ridge Racer and Final Fantasy brought something unprecedented at the time. The internet hype was barely taking its structure back then and my only access to veritable info was through printed magazines and maybe some gaming websites that were barely beginning and there was no RUclips. The later console generations had a lot of hype and not that much new to offer when it came to the wow factor and I'm afraid that even these days it's not getting better.
And even though the new consoles bring in more power, it will always be in the hands of the developers to give us something that we'll be truly excited about. If you are experiencing a feeling of wonder when it comes to the new consoles, I envy you.
Honestly, same. The PS2 and PS3 were the golden eras of video games. I remember my first time playing on the PS3 and going "This is so cool! No wires! And call of duty looks so realistic compared to PS2 games!"
Although games look great visually nowadays, they lack the fire that the older games had. It's just lazy and a rush for the $$$

I’ll be getting both. It looks like Microsoft has quietly been building a behemoth for the future. They have something like 25 developers with 30 something teams making games. Once they start rolling out there will be loads of games dropping on Xbox. I don’t think there will be much to complain about in the gaming industry in the coming years.
Only problem is they will not be ready for the console launch. Which is a big deal for early adopters and giving people a reason to plan to buy an Xbox Series X in the future. Flagship titles still sell consoles, only have to look at Nintendo Switch's success to see this.
@@cattysplat Definitely. Switch had its games ready, despite being inferior hardware, no real services. Outsold XBox and rivaled Sony games with one entry really. Given how successful they are with just games, it makes no sense Sony can't and hasn't done the same with just games. Japan's focus and dev formula for games can't be underestimated for the longterm. While the West gets bloated and unsustainable with AAAs, the East still creates and survives on that one key aspect.

I suggest you hold on to your console for at least another year or two before upgrading. By then, the true next gen exclusives will roll out and the current gen will begin to become obsolete. Also, maybe the prices of the consoles may have dropped a bit. 👍

For someone like me who had an Xbox one, a switch and a PC this generation, I definitely see value in the series X/S, being able to play all of my games at higher resolutions and a stable frame rate, but I also see the value in the purchase of a PS5, because I could play all of the good PS4 games that I missed out on this generation.

It's always been about numbers but it's all BS for marketing. I'm on PC and the only thing I care about with my PC is the GPU, CPU, RAM, and other essential parts but Xbox/Sony markets their consoles with stuff that doesn't even matter because they will still be under powered and game developers would rather sell you graphics rather than game play. Nintendo is the only console that tries to sell you games. If a game in the future runs like crap on my PC, I can just turn the settings down on the game so it runs much better whereas on Xbox or Playstation, if a game runs like crap because the developers prioritized graphics over smooth game play, you're SOL. I remember playing GTA Online in 2015 (2 years after the Xbox One's release and GTA V's original release) and the frames per second would drop to 20 constantly if there was too much going on, and that was somehow acceptable in AAA games
As someone who saved since summer 2019 for both the Series X & PS5, my viewpoint is it doesn’t matter what you play on. Both consoles have good things. And at the end of the day, we’re all people who love video games

i hate exclusives. i like playing forza, but i love gran turismo. i want to play ghosts of tsushima and the uncharted series again, but i cant. i cant afford to own both, at least not without significant financial commitment. i am not alone in this, as im sure im not alone in thinking that exclusives are counterproductive to the world of gaming as a whole. why does every facet of life need to be divided? why do we commit to and further widen the divide? its disheartening. great video.
p.s. i gave up playstation after lifelong patronage and endearment, soured by their financial agenda and the dwarfism imposed by xbox's consistent innovation and accommodation to the player. xbox is pushing for a more universal gaming experience, while sony is too traditionalist in this sense and prefers separation for economic competition. the playstation is much more profit-oriented and users not as indifferent to this as others will have a lesser experience as a result.

Have you been living under a rock lol. Lots of people can't afford/don't want to game on PC and that's where consoles come in but of course the option is there for PC gamers because PC and Xbox are not in competition despite what some people may have thought.
Most people who buy console buy them for the price and the convenience, I play on PC too but I can't play RPGs on PC, I don't know what is it, I just get distracted from game too easily. It all comes down to preference, will 4k 60 Fps make that much of a difference? If so, go for it. I love the approach MS is taking because they know their audience, like I said before most people choose prince and convenience when buying Consoles, so they will not lose that many sales on the console market
