That IS the origin of his name. You can find old videos of him (from 2017) from when he was still a stray cat where he is called Thundercat Ho! I had been naming other stray and feral cats after He-Man characters, and when I ran out of names, I switched to Thundercats. But RUclips's censors never really liked Ho in the title. So it got shortened to Thunder.
My cat from the late 90s-mid-2010s would play it...but not in a god way. She would attack my feet every tie I got into bed. She knew, and would wait on the floor at the foot of the bed for my feet to side down right above her and would pounce on them and bite them.
I got a gray and white tom I have had since a kitten for many years that looks about identical. But he is fairly fat. He is also soft and cuddly but however he is a real ba****d cat, rotten and misbehaves in different ways. But I keep him as he is the last survivor of his gray cat family now.
Thunder is a little on the heavy side too, although he "wears" it well. IT comes from his stray cat days of having to eat everything he could because he never knew if/when he would eat again. So he will steal his cat cousin's food all the time.

I used to play "Blanket Monster" with my cat Nachohead...I miss him...
I have had cats that liked to play blanket monster with my feet unawares and it was no fun if their claws can get through.

You can tell from the position of the whiskers that the cat is in combat mode.
But he can shut it off real fast. As soon as he sees it is my hand, he becomes as gentle as a lamb.
