Flash Mob Response to Westboro Baptist Church in West Virginia

- When the hatemongers from Westboro Baptist Church announced they were coming to Charleston, W.Va., to do their usual 'God Hates Figs' bit (I decline to give them what they want - which is to use the media to propagate their own version of that line), Covenant House gathered a host of area folk for a flashy response. This is a video of a flash mob rehearsal in the Covenant House parking lot, set to a techno version of 'Country Roads.' Note the final long, continuous take, ending in the pigeons checking out what was going on down there on the lot. Bewt counter-protest sign at the following day's protest: 'God hates signs.' Have you ever noticed your God is evil? He literally invented a place so vile painful that human mind can't understand or imagine and made it for his puppets he animated for his entertainment,gave them senses and if they use them or question him they burn,then he screwed them for listening to this being that saved them from eternity of ignorance,servitude and blind oppression especially for eve. Who is the real savior rescuing humanity from an oppressive God? Guess what if he is real im fine because he understands why I question because man has taken him and used him to oppress hurt rape torture murder etc for there ends of controling the masses. So as a goid human I am doing gods work by questioning because everything he stands for is not what any man made institution in this earth,first they follow a book written 300yrs later with meaningful texts suppressed and favor the pagan aristocracy total control of men and it's laws alway reflect in degrees there benefit to all law.
The Bible does not tell us to hate gay people but rather tells us not to judge. I don't think being gay is completely right but I also don't judge them for who they are.

As a believer of God and faith, I will say this. Only God will judge. He does see this and it probably tears him up that people of WBC acts like that. One lady of the church said newborns after 3 days old that dies will go to hell. Waaaa?

It says in the Bible there will be people to justify they believe in God and judge but God tells us to not judge unless righteously like murder or stealing. Things like that. It makes me uneasy to see people part of what is called a hate church. I couldn't never be involved and how the WBC is doing their side road preaching is not the word of God. He never says this person gonna go to hell or that person. Gesh. These people who protest like this. Its just so urgggg. Bleh. It turns people the wrong way and away from new believes.

The use of good music in such a situation is scriptural. Very intelligent.
Every time I lose my faith in humanity I see something like this and how people can act together for something better and I remember that we're not so bad.

Is it bad that I'm more interested in the argument in the comments than I am in the video? I mean, props to you Covenant House for fighting back in a nonviolent way against the WBC, but this argument between EffieReal and bicokun has me waiting to see what else they're going to say. They both have very valid points, and I want to see how their discussion will play out.

I'm not the one that came up with the estimated dates the Bible was written. Scholars looked at internal and external evidence, including the style of writing and mentions of people or places who can be more precisely dated, the concerns the author is addressing, and other evidence. These estimates are generally accepted by the major religions. I believe they can get a general idea of when some of the books were written, or at least how far apart they were written.

As an atheist, I don't love Christians solely based on their beliefs. I disregard religion and look at their personality.

I don't know the scholars, I never met them. Here are a few ways they estimated the dates (I am getting this info from a website) the book of Ruth is set during the time of the judges, scholars place the literary style as that of the time of the Israelite monarchy-the Kings-based on other writings more accurately dated to that time. The mention of David (Ruth 4:17, 22) also implies a date some time after David’s reign.
The good part, is that since nobody in the right mind will marry the daughters, and if their "church" doesn't get any new members, then this will be done and gone soon. Also, we should hold pickets at Fred Phelps funeral.

My point is it wasn't written at the same time or by the same person, that's why it contradicts itself. The only reason they are in the same book is because humans found them and decided which books they would include in the Bible. You don't see the problem with people deciding which books to include in a collection they claim is the exact word of God? Besides, I was responding to your comment, "Not at that different time periods", remember?
I respect that, and the pacifist in me agrees that's the best thing to do. But there's a great quote by Martin Luther King Jr: "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." These people need to be stopped. And it makes me sick that they call themselves "Christians" when nothing about their behaviour is Christ-like.
I have such respect for those that turn out to counter the WBC idiots. I think what impresses me the most is the way they are able to maintain their cool and not rip those horrible signs out of their hands and beat them soundly about the head and shoulders with them. Yes I know they have their right to free speech and I do not believe that the government should stp them in any way. Private citizens should be able to curb stomp them, however.

@RES1ST0R At the very start the lady with the bullhorn welcomed everyone to the REHERSAL. This would be them teaching the dance moves to the people who were gonna show up and do the flash mob at the rally.

The first five books of the Old Testament was written by Moses during the forty years that the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness (1450 - 1410 B.C.). Solomon is credited with writing Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon, during his reign (971 - 931 B.C). It is generally agreed that the Book of Mark was the first Gospel written and that it was written between A.D. 50 and 75. That's just a few.

No, I am not an atheist. I specifically wrote "Yahweh" because in the Torah & Old Testament, "JHVH" behaves like a l'enfant terrible, as the French say. I don't believe that myself, but that IS what is written. But there is also love in the scriptures. Some sociopaths focus on and believe in the hateful stuff. That just shows their true character.
