    Never underestimate the importance of string - THE must have piece of equipment to have in your kit.

    Would you not typically have bridge clips on every extension so that it can be isolated without removing wires? I don't understand why you jumped from the telco side direct to the extension with no means of disconnect.

    nice tutorial, as a telephone man myself with cat5 i always use my snips and ring the end about 3 inches back pop it off then use the rip cord and pull it down another 3 or 4 inches and then snip off the first 3 i nches where i ringed it so i dont risk having a scored conductor and end up breaking never used those cat5 strippers tho not sure if they ever score it or not

      I agree 100 percent!!! always assume the conductor is nipped or damaged when cutting back the cover, Use that ripcord and use pristine wire when punching down!!!! Good catch!!
