It gets better and better. I've made notes as you went along, pausing using the spacebar and rewinding 5 seconds with the arrow when appropriate. I also save your videos into a folder Iäve called 'iMac info' on RUclips. Thanks again. Always give you a thumbs up and will soon contribute to Patreon. Promise. You are worth it.
Gary, you are a true power user. The only time you surprise me is when you have non-stock apps on the devices that you use. In terms of copying the app that I love is Copied, it retains up to 1000 items that you have copied and you can use it to make quick entries by saving a library of specified items that are on your clipboard.
Thank you Gary - some useful tips here. My problem is that my brain can only store so many keyboard shortcut key combos, and not only are there a bazillion for the Mac itself, most apps have their own as well, and, as with most things, the ones you don't use frequently fade from memory pretty quickly.
Kudos on the awesome video. So many good tips in one spot. I am a long time Mac user but never came across the Shift+CMD+5 combo. That one is an amazing tip, no more screenshot files cluttering up the desktop and hard drive. I always used to use Shift+CMD+4 to select an area and then had to quickly right click the pop up and copy to clipboard. There is also Shift+CMD+3 which just captures the entire screen (actually all of your screens if you have any attached).
I use an iPad and my ‘pages’ version doesn’t seem to have any of these features. I don’t think the key functions work either. Is that right because of the lack of memory I have something much more basic on an iPad?
Although this is about copy and paste, a nod to dragon drop (okay, it's drag & drop) might be useful as a reminder. For example, if you want to put a photo into an email or other document, and the photo is right there in front of you (visible), it's easier to just drag it onto the document than to fool with a clipboard.
Very helpful. My problem is when copying text which is next to a bullet point and then pasting to the same document further down, the bullet comes with it and formatting goes all over the place. Any ideas to stop this please?
Not usually, though some apps may let you do that. What are you trying to do by selecting non-contiguous paragraphs? If the idea is to change styles, then there is a better way, say in Pages: ruclips.net/video/7t9A_sYkAEY/видео.html

hey could I use this command to copy from Excel and paste into a sequence on a editing program like premiere pro? I wanted to automate the renaming of timelines from excel to premiere
Not sure what it is you are trying to do, but whatever it is it would need to be supported by that app (Premiere) so I would ask in their support forums.
Gary...I have a comment not directly related to this excellent video but for which you may have a solution. Is there a way to make a shortcut that will paste a text directly into a web page? I am thinking specifically of a password where I frequently enter and leave a site and have to type a convoluted password every time. I guess I'm asking if there is such a thing as f1g will paste ABC123 every time i use the function. Thank you so much.
How do you select text and get it to copy without any other keys and paste by middle mouse click? This works with a text application like iTerm but not on a web page or word processing app. There is a way to make it work.
Great info for a returning Mac user after many years. Thank you!
Thank you! This is so helpful - now I just need to remember it all 😝

Edit, Paste and Match Style.
Great tutorial Gary. Thanks. Is it possible to Highlight and copy the 1st, 3rd and 5th line of a paragraph at the same time ? Thanks for your help.

Which app are you using? That won't work in all apps, as I mention.
