As someone who has played Rec room from the start, seeing this world has evolved so much brings a joyful tear to my eye. Thank you for this splendid video! Hats off!
Haha, when we made Seats it was mainly because we needed them for Rec Rally, but since they were done first we were like "might as well give 'em to players, right?" And now it's "the biggest update RR has ever made." Just goes to show... :P
I joined Rec Room in September 7th of 2019, and it's crazy to think that, if I was as active as I am now, I would have gotten to experience so much more. So many rare weeklies, clothing items, and bugs. Also, I experienced the third day of Stunt Runner which is now my favorite RRO. I probably heard a ton of people talk about SR and thought nothing of it. The newest of these updates I can remember is the mirror update, and even that seems like yesterday. Time goes by quickly
little did anyone know that years later we would get FULL BODYS instead of wiggly beans i had the first beta on feb 29th 2024 [leap year day] and i can prove that it is amazing!
I remember playing the quest of jumbotron or whatever its called and it was great it was all the way back in 2018 but thank you for including it, it gives me a lot of nostalgia
A little disappointed that there was no jingles or as much funny talking as Bill Wurtz. But you know what, it teaches us everything about Rec Room history and gets nostalgia, and that's all that matters.
RecRoom added more features in 2021 & 2022 then they ever did in the 5 year prior. Whilst leaving an absolute infestation of bugs. Can we please call pest control?
great vid. I came to discover Rec Room a bit before the Rec Royale update on psvr, but initially hated it because it looked like Wii Sports and the minigames didn't rest easy on me either. I gave it another shot thanks to Rec Royale and that made me respect it more as it was the only such game on psvr. Plus I came to appreciate the fine made for VR mechanics, like the menu, the object interactions, different weapons etc. Then I learned of the co-op Quest and this was really amazing. Yet, nothing like learning you can build your own places in this metaverse with the maker pen in VR. amazing VR and flat metaverse full with possibilities. They do good in limiting users creations or else it would become a performance mess in platforms like Quest - though plenty of people around can already make it hog... to the future of the MetaVRse with better hardware!
I joined when they added checkpoints to Isle, and nowadays I don't enjoy the game that much because lots of bad stereotypes have ruined my experience throughout the years :(
Honestly great video man! Personally I started playing this game in 2020 and I haven’t regret it since! I knew none of these things actually and it was cool to see how much the game has changed over time!!! Definitely a sub from me
As someone who first played the game in 2017, it's crazy to me how far this game has come. I've since stopped playing it as often as I used to, as I now prefer VRCHAT, but I still respect just how amazing of a game it is. Its the new Roblox!
I think i joined very early 2019, as it was definitely before materials were added, and 2019 is the oldest 'class of' shirt i have. When i first played i was in screen mode on the playstation, and i made a bunch of crappy fnaf models. At the time though, they were some of the better ones the community had to pick from. When materials were added my models became alot more popular (probably because i was the only one using the "sand" and "dirt" textures as fur instead of the cloth or carpet everyone else was using, and it looked alot more like shorthair messy old robots than thick carpet or microfiber cloth lol. Sometimes i still see my old models getting used for things, which is surprising given people like RED (otherwise known as REDREBOOT) exist, who make the highest quality models ive ever seen, but they tend to cost tokens and alot of ink so it kinda makes sense. Plus mine were fully customizable, so alot of people made those dumb "build your own fnaf" rooms with them. My later models, long after i got vr, were definitely alot better, but they were typically of niche-ish characters like music man or the blob, and i think i had them at a minimum price, so it makes sense they never got got lol. Its interesting looking back and seeing how completely outclassed i was by people like red, because its not like i didnt deserve it, my models were garbage, but it all happened so fast, everyone learned all the new things basically instantly, while i was still struggling to navigate the new pen menu lol. I dont feel bad about losing motivation to keep on making though, as rec rooms creation space quickly shifted into a completely different scene the moment creations became sellable. It became less about having fun creating, and more about making the best thing possible to get as many purchases as possible, financial incentive destroyed creativity, so its not like rec room was a good place for me anymore anyway. With the introduction of cv2, games became pretty impossible for new comers to make as well, and now rec room studio puts a whole nother barrier of entry to the creation space, as only people with a computer will be able to make successful games, with the atrocious ink limits on standard rec room buildings. You either sacrifice gameplay, or visuals, or both. If you have a high quality model for something important, everything besides that model has to be as simple as possible, leading to the game becoming worse roblox in terms of quality of games. Hangout rooms are basically all thats left of what feels like old rec room, as they are quite often literally a room you spend time in recreationally lol. Anyway rambling over, if you happened to read this for whatever reason, thanks i suppose. Dont think im salty about anything, ive completely moved on from rec room now, and just find it interesting to think about
wow glass update "Listened after 5 years" sounds like Rec Room Is pulling a Nintendo not listening to what fans want. but hey Good work with the video/editing.
If I had a dollar everytime you said "that we all know and love" i'd be rich lol. No offense, great video and informed me alot about stuff from the past!
It's weird to really put into perspective how many things have been added since you joined the game. For all the... shortcomings.. recroom has really grown
I mostly included the important things, I only chose things from updates and not events (for example RecCon), but still, I included everything I could think of.
Guys i found a BUILT IN game if anybody tryna solo GT, when fireball comes to you, Drop your bow (or anything) and it absorbs the fireball, Not going to be patched because its just physics, Try to use that to your use :)
I remember playing with the paint thrower waaaay back than 2020, but even then, i wasnt playing Rec Room much. edit: when i was younger i was fuckign obsessed, wouldn't go a day without playing it
A lil bit of feedback, blurring the gameplay footage like that can actually cause eyestrain for some people. As for the rest, it really is nice too see how far this game has come since I joined. I really miss the way it used to be- to be honest I wish I could go back to the 2017/18 version and stay there, but it's still nice nowadays. The only modern change I can't handle though... is the new watch UI, I hate it
Ah rip, good video man, just finished writing a whole sctipt for the same video haha im so gutted, but dosent matter great video once again!
Thanks man!

@Creeper Tech i meant 2017 lol

I don't even remember when I joined, but from the video, I can say I joined about late 2017, or early 2018

in my opinion, the worst update was in around January of 2021 and they added a new maker pen menu, but you get used to it eventually.

I started RecRoom late 2020 (when I got my quest 1 for Christmas) it's awesome to see this game improve
A little disappointed that there was no jingles or as much funny talking as Bill Wurtz. But you know what, it teaches us everything about Rec Room history and gets nostalgia, and that's all that matters.
@PressXToDoubt Don't ask me, I'm just a character.
Nobody is talking about the three golden trophies hidden behind a wall inside of the 2017 rec center and I hate it
Hey i used to play basement with you im glad to see you are popping off!
I remember discovering the game on psvr right before they added laser tag and the new quest, hard to believe that was years ago now
RecRoom added more features in 2021 & 2022 then they ever did in the 5 year prior. Whilst leaving an absolute infestation of bugs. Can we please call pest control?
Really? I haven’t noticed much changes, not to mention the amount of bugs they are too lazy to fix
Thank quest for that
Adding tons of new features while ignoring all the huge bugs doesn't count as "on the grind"
Probably because of the mass introduction on quest players, rec room is the 3rd most downloaded game on Oculus quest
Tuh
This made me realize how far back things came out like I thought the pool table came out in late 2020 it feels so weird

Amazing Wrap of Rec Room!
Really well made video!!! editing is 🔥
Oh this video gives me memories! All the time i used to waste my tokens on food to eat. Lol.
i remember starting in 2019 but i reconize 2017
i remeber when me and my friend was bored so we was on the ps store and we found rec room in 2019
I used to play this on the psvr and hyped for it on the quest 2
All of your content is amazing!
Waitin' for 2022 updates
maybe finally they will add more space to maker pens, so we can make full-ass rooms without inventions
Honestly, the more updates that came, the less it felt like a VR game. Like with the watch menu
i remember when i only used to play the ping pong game when rec room was only on the HTC VIVE (I think it was around back then)
Nice!
