It's nice to see you are uploading this wonderful march exactly on the anniversary of the Battle of Liegnitz. 260 years ago to this day, Frederick the Great defeated the Austrians in this battle. It is good to see that I am not the only one who remembered this important day.
I have no idea what you're on about, I've never heard this march used in such a manner in the US. Are you by chance thinking of Hail to the Chief, the Presidential march, which sounds passingly similar to the section you mentioned? It sounds similar as a lot of American martial composers were inspired by the Prussian tradition, much like the US Army as a whole was, having been doctrinally established by a psychotic Prussian officer known for screaming apoplectically at people in 3 languages at once.

the extreme militarism was already refuted. Even tho the % of soldiers was high they don't mention that while in military service they often waited at home, did the harvest and normal jobs too. They were just called when necessary.

Totally agree, a shame that Wilhelm II ruined everything. A modern Friedrich would have realized that Germany needs to be tolerant, liberal and has to open to the world.
Not complaining but how many more Dr.Ludwig? But really, every version is better than the last one. This might be the only music that I don't get sick by listening again and again.
Hohenfriedberger marsch, there is a reason you won't have a Kolin or Zorndorf march. Frederick was good but he was not Great. He was not a Napoleon. I would argue that Daun should be remembered as the Great Captain of that war, not Frederick. Daun was a better general and meticulously planned everything whereas Frederick could be impulsive, reckless, and sometimes downright incompetent.
@@incognito9292 No. Because Daun consistently kicked his ass. And Frederick's critiques of Daun had a lot of merit. Daun was overly cautious, Daun was a plodder, Daun never pressed his advantage to the full but equally Frederick kept making the same mistakes against the same opponent - Daun. Napoleon made mistakes but he never underestimated the same opponent twice. Frederick did consistently, whereas Napoleon after being smarted once never underestimated Archduke Charles again. Napoleon was also far more imaginative in his campaigning and his tactical manoeuvres than Frederick.
Daun often in the battles with Frederick had a significant advantage in the number of soldiers. Frederick had a problem ... he did not have enough soldiers, and he had to fight on several fronts, because of which there were not enough soldiers. And very often in battles, Frederick always attacked, and his opponents always defend themselves. The same battle of Zorndorf. When the Russians took up a tight defense. In addition, Frederick had occasion to defeat Daun at the battle of Reichenbach Burkersdorf and Liegnitz. Maybe Frederick was not such a talented commander, but that is not why he was called great.
@@friedrichdergrosse_ That Daun fought Frederick with superior numbers is no accident. Daun would pick off isolated Prussian garrisons and attack Frederick's logistics to force him to battle and in a battle on Daun's terms. This is a mark of good generalship. In fact Daun was amused that Frederick seemed to think, in war, the enemy owed him a 'fair fight' when it was war.
@@dewittbourchier7169 If we talk about the Battle of Colin, then Daun himself lured Frederick out, taking a defensive position. Frederick attacked him with an oblique attack, and Daun foresaw this and strengthened the right flank, which is why Frederick lost, but it was with the same tactics that Frederick defeated Daun and the Prince of Lorraine at Leuthen. In all the battles of Daun and Frederick, the first defended all the time. In the few battles that he had to give to the Prussians, Daun always adhered to positional tactics and relied mainly on the power of fire and the inaccessibility of his position. In addition, Daun more than once substituted the Russian army, and did not fulfill his obligations to deliver supplies. As a result, Friedrich and Daun cannot be compared in different categories. Solid defense is not a tactic, because Daun is no better than Frederick.
@@friedrichdergrosse_ No - Daun correctly read Frederick's temperment, he also saw how effective strong defense was and his mission was to destroy the prussian army and with it any capacity of Frederick's to wage war. It was a very sound strategy to attrite the Prussians, as Frederick could ill afford those losses, and it also cut down on his own casualties.
A lot of Prussian/German marches sound so cheery and upbeat.

The US uses this a lot around election time and for patriotic stuff, mostly 0:06 - 0:39
Because they have no tradition themselves😂

Hello there
If something as beautifull as this can come out of Prussia, then I am convinced it is more than brutal militarism. ⚫️⚪️
the extreme militarism was already refuted. Even tho the % of soldiers was high they don't mention that while in military service they often waited at home, did the harvest and normal jobs too. They were just called when necessary.
Dr. Ludwig If thats the case, then how Prussia got treated after WW2 was really unfair
