this is my story too- I didn't get dxed with narcolepsy but years of high dose lexapro made it so if I sat still too long, I"d fall asleep. I told the Dr something is very wrong and I think it's this drug. She said, no you are just more depressed and need more meds. It's horrifying what we have gone thru. Horrifying. I am so glad we have a psychiatrist sharing the truth

Same. Told the Dr about vision problems, no energy, cognitively, headache dizzy. Dr said ”exhaustion, depression and more drug”. After a long and difficult taper, I can now say that the Dr was wrong - the problem was the drug. Lost many years, health, money and work during this time. The worst thing is not being believed as a patient.

I was an addict most of my adult life. I've also had some terrifying experiences. But psychiatric meds are by far the worst and scariest drug I've ever ingested.

Please don't interrupt the Dr. when we're hanging on every word he's saying. Just a suggestion.😊

'My' doctor took me off effexor cold turkey. The psychological nightmare that followed was absolutely horrific. I had no idea that a person could feel so bad. I was planning my exit - how to do it and where to do it. The psychiatrist put me on largactil - which caused a complete mental breakdown. Most people have no clue just how dangerous psychiatrists are.

I wish now I had said "STOP", my life is not working, I am not happy, I am stressed out. something is out of balance, I need help. I wish I ahd admitted defeat , been vulnerable and asked for and sought out lots and lots and lots of support - emotional and practical. I had a job, a mortgage and two kids. My GP swore to me AD's were not 'addictive', that is why I went on them. They probably are not addictive in that sense, but my body is now physiologically addicted to them. Once your kids leave home, you r like , get me off these pills, and then you try, and all hell breaks loose. Mark is great.

Great to come across this (directed from Mark H on radio 5 (UK) today (June '23). It aligns with what I've been reading recently from other (reputable) sources. Rather shocking implications (recognising the terrible withdrawal difficulties)

Please tell me what you believe causes OCD intrusive thoughts/harm OCD if it's not a chemical "misfiring". I would really value your insights on this. Also, no mention of hormone induced depression. PMS, PMDD, PPD, perimenopause and menopause have had severely debilitating affects on millions of women throughout their lives. Is it not true that the radical shifts in hormones affect brain and nervous system function causing mood and vasomotor symptoms often to the point of not being able to work or function in daily life? My severe panic, anxiety, OCD, and depression have always coincided with hormonal shifts throughout my life. Not caused by any circumstances or my world-view, or whatever. Can you speak at all to this? I happen to be on Effexor because I hit perimenopause, my hormones tanked, and I lost my mind. I was waking up every day like you described, as though I was running away from a ravenous wild animal ALL DAY LONG. Effexor literally just makes me feel normal again. 100 mg.
