about Safety Zone, it's similar to the saying "it's lonely at the top." in this track, j-hope talks about how he seemingly has everything (i.e. money, fame, success), except for one thing: a place where he can be truly vulnerable and get a sense of peace and comfort. there are lots of people around who support him in different ways (family, friends, fans, colleagues, etc.), but once the lights and cameras are out and the cheers die down, his life gets lonesome again. he talks about how even in video games, there are "safe zones" where you can't get hit or harmed even when you let down your defenses, but with his chosen career path, does such a thing as a "safety zone" exist? and if it does exist, he then questions if his safety zone is something that is in the outside world (e.g. a place, a person, etc.) or if it's within himself (e.g. a certain belief or mindset).

I feel like Arson is a necessary end to the album because of the final question he asks himself: "Do I put out the fire, or burn even brighter?" It's a vital question he needs to ask as he begins to explore more of his solo career especially considering the heights bts have went together. He's already done so much, and he chose this path consciously ("“Right, I lit the flame”) and he realizes he has the power to keep going with that same fire (which I think is synonymous for his passion/energy) if he wanted to.

J-Hope said that this album tells a story. I don't know if you noticed it, but the tracks before Reflection were mainly about the past while the tracks after Reflection are mainly questioning the future. You know that everything in a video put out by BTS or one of the members has meaning and is deliberate. In the end of the video, when the camera moves into his body to show his burned and blacked heart and insides, to me, that's a visual representation of the lyrics of Arson. Everything within him burned and the flames are no longer visible, so it's done. However, when the camera pulls back to show his face again, you can clearly see the fire, still burning brightly inside of him. It's just my opinion, of course, but I think that last image of him is showing his answer to the last question he asks in the song. The fire is still burning. Since he hasn't put out the fire, I think that he's telling us that he plans on burning even brighter.

about STOP (korean title: There are No Bad People in the World), he has mentioned in his recent radio show interviews that it was his main belief and constant reminder to himself - there are no bad people in the world. There are lots of things that can arouse anger and hatred within us, especially towards other people, such as the "deadly criminals" mentioned in the lyrics. However, most of the time we get carried away by our emotions that we're unable to STOP and think about the underlying reasons or circumstances that made those people the way that they are (e.g. the household/environment that they grew up in, past experiences and traumas, the kind of culture and societal systems that they were under, and more). Those things made them "different," but at the end of the day, we're all human beings and j-hope believes that at the very core of human nature is that we are good. It's inspired by a book also entitled "There are No Bad People in the World" by Won Jaehoon.

I agree with this. In all three verses, he starts with an observation about the world (difference of opinions between friends, crimes on TV, toxic internet) and has a spontaneous reaction to it, but then he tells himself to stop and take a step back. He analyzes the situation (friends are different people so of course they have different opinions, criminals may come from a harsh background etc., people just need to realizes that small things can change the world) and then comes to the belief that there are no bad people in the world.

the storytelling in this album is *chef's kiss* (especially reading from doolset's website) and the songs are just SO GOOD 💜😭 it's a masterpiece and seeing all of these performed live was a surreal experience. j-hope as a solo artist just has so much more to show; i'm so proud of him and i'm really excited for what he does next!

in the very beginning of BTS, hoseok searched for a stage name for himself. he wanted to includ "J-" at the beginning (I think because of his last name "Jung") and something close to his actual name. He and Bang PD were brainstorming, and Bang came up with "Hope", and told Hobi the story of pandora's box and how Hope was the last remaining thing in there, bringing something good to the world. That's how Hobi got his stage name "J-hope". there are several clips of Hobi telling this. So the whole pandora's box is actually not just a nice coincident to his stage name, but actually the reason for it.

So about safety zone which grew on me significantly since the first time i heard it and might even be my fav on the album rn hobi is basically saying admist all the chaos and fire in his life he's lost and it became impossible for him to find a safe place whether that be literally or figuratively (in family and ppl for example), he says that even in video games there are safe spaces and then he questions that with the career path he chose maybe there's simply no such thing as a safety zone.

I already see quite a few comments talking about Safety zone, STOP and Arson, so I'd like to briefly talk about Future, which is such an interesting song to me. In one of their interview videos, Hobi has mentioned that his greatest fear is the future, and he addresses that in this song. He finds its uncertainty daunting and scary to face alone. He also refers to going with the flow (unlike salmon, that go against the flow and swim upstream), and not fighting against it, while realising that the songs he has been singing with the other members - about hope, loving oneself, are all things that he needs too. Like you said, it's both positive and melancholic, and I think that really adds it to beauty and connects this album to HopeWorld, which too had very dark lyrics while sounding upbeat and positive.

i think hobi said something like more is him before he gets out of the box, meaning all the ambitions he had before facing the outside box (i think it could also symbolize his debut with this album/solo stuff), and that arson is him outside the box and him reflecting on what he has accomplished. To me that is so interesting if you look at the placement of the songs within the album. The first part (songs 1-5) I would say that it is more him analyzing how the “world” outside the box works and how he wants to portray/bring to the table (that being hope). But then music box: reflection serves as a metaphor of him actually leaving the music box as well as a turning point on the album, as in later on we are going to see how the story goes once he is out of the box (also the fact that he put reflection on the title could also imply that he will get into an introspective/reflecting mode). The lyrics on the last few songs are more about his struggles while being on the spotlight/having this persona to maintain, referring to what he encounters now that he’s outside the box/now that he has accomplished what he has been longing for. And as a grand finale, he said that he sums up everything on arson, so that’s why he ended the album with it. So you could see how much of a storyteller he is, how much he thought about every single detail and how personal this project is to him

What I understood about Arson is that he caused this fire (his career, choosing this path) and now he's asking himself What he should do now. He should stop or keep going because part of himself wants more?
(I also think there's not a completely positive option but he caused that and what it's done it's done so he prefers to just keep going and shine brighter). Hobi recently had a interview on radio station and he was asked to give a hint about what choice he has made and Hobi said "I really like open endings, but as you can tell from my work, isn't the choice obvious?"🔥🔥 And he really shone brighter with this solo project. HE'S SO COOL.
I think Hobi chose this song as a title track and he put it at the end because summarize everything he wanted it to say, it summarizes Jack In the box.
btw this is Hoseok talking about Arson:
"J-Hope's ignition of my own passion. I ignited a passion for myself, to pursue a career, to pursue my music. But looking back, I kind of went out pof control, and the whole world around me is on fire. I have released a lot of songs and music , and I have gotten to receive love and support from all around the world. So now, the fire or the ignition of the passion is not easy to put out anymore (...) And this song is also about how now I'm at crossroads- a point of choosing between whether I want to put out this fire that I started, or do I want to continue and make it flame even more?"

    This a no skip album!
Yes, just like you said, Jack in the box is so dark but at the same time hopeful.
The album playlist in order is just magnificent piece of work. I just think the order is perfect because just by watching your reaction and the topics that came out after your analysis were exactly what the next songs was going to talk about. I think Hobi really thought about it so much. We know he always has a plan for everything, he paints a big picture just like IU said in that interview lmao. Anyways, Hobi has outdone himself yet again…this time showing how he visualizes the world and showing his absolute raw nakedness and speaking out loud all the hope, needs, fears, doubts he went through. and It feels like I’m sitting in therapy with him. It’s so HEALING. I honestly love when albums have like a concept or story.
    He put his soul in this album! 🔥💜.}
Hoseok is such a unique artist from his voice, delivery and sound. He's amazing. I feel that the album is short but it's SO good. The first two weeks I could mention like my favorite songs but at this point nah, I honestly I love all of them I already had that phase of being obsessed with a different song every day or every week lmao. It's just so freaking good and right on my alley. I feel this album is just SO good and perfect as Mono is and hey, I LOVE Mono and I consider that mixtape/playlist or whatever an absolute masterpiece and one of my favorites ever.
And same girl, HIS LYRICISM just blew my mind and made me think so much. The lyrics made the whole album 200% better. I personally think that lyrics are really important in certain way to achieve artistic value and quality and of course emotional connection with the public. I'm love him so much and I'm so proud of him. 😭😭💜 And Hobipalooza was great 🔥🔥

the lyrics and concept of this album is just chef’s kiss! top to bottom a masterpiece. I’m so proud of him for showing us these sides of himself. all of the things and pieces that make him him.
ALSO what I took away from arson (especially with the imagery) is fire can destroy and cause chaos. BUT it can also be a symbol of renewal and rebirth. like through the good and the bad he evolves and rises from the ashes.
