The girls with the car spilling gas, I don’t think it’s their fault. From what I saw, the gas just kept going out of the nozzle, even though the tank was full.
The pump nozzle must have been defective. Most handles are designed to automatically shut off when the tank is full. There is a little hose in the nozzle and a diaphragm in the handle that cause this to happen. When you first pump the gas, the diaphragm fills with air, and when the hose gets full of gas due to the tank being full, it sucks the diaphragm into the hose, cutting off the supply.

Most gas stations have signs warning the customer not to leave the pump unattended because it may not stop automatically.

As someone who works in a gas station, the pumps do have stops, but they are generic. Every car company has different gas tanks, so it's not universal. It's not going to stop for every car.
Which is why most pumps have a sign on them that says you cannot walk away while fueling, you're supposed to stand there and hold the nozzle. And those little metal clips are a handicap accessibility, they're only supposed to be used by handicap people.

To gas spilling out of the car literally happened to my mom a little bit ago so she paid for $25 but it stopped at $23.14 so she went back and forth with the gas pump and it eventually started leaking, and it was hilarious because the cashier was gonna do $20 but mom corrected her and she was like "I should have done the $20"
