@ChachaChapati Well, having lived in San Diego my whole life, I've seen the Surfline change a lot in the last several years. One definite this is that the frieght capacity on the Surfline has been tremendously reduced. Industries up and down the line have gone out of service and the BNSF tracks in downtown SD are a fraction of what they used to be. Numerous tracks in the yard have been ripped out and the yard, which used to be completely full everyday, is now almost completely dormant.
@ChachaChapati It probably has to do with traffic on the San Bernardino and Cajon Subdivisions, though I have yet to see enough traffic on those lines to demonstrate that one extra manifest in each direction would cause conjestion. There's no excuse on the surfline portion of the route.
There is no reason BNSF shouldn't return to running the M-BARSDG and M-SDGBAR during midday. Coaster doesn't run, Metrolink doesn't. Would make a lot more sense.
I have never seen a train switch this fast! Dang! =P
A dash 9 is phase III?!?!?! That was a huge truck

I love that whooping noise.
He's moving fast. No load time or anything. Straight from forward to reversed and picked up speed in no time.
@SDRailfan Yeah, for no apparent reason either. It didn't get in a crash and it's old paint sceme was in perfectly good condition.

@Locomotive450 In addition to the vehicle trains, BNSF also used to run a potash train way back when; wonder what happened to that.
