On June 28, 1997, one of the more bizarre moments in boxing history took place when Mike Tyson bit off a portion of Evander Holyfield's ear in the third round of their much-anticipated rematch. Tyson was disqualified from the bout and lost his boxing license. He was later reinstated

@@matt9675 I doubt most people realize Mike bit the ear off because there were repeated headbutts from Holyfield to Tyson. The ref kept not seeing it, and eventually Mike had enough of that ref not doing his job well. I'm not saying Mike didn't do a lot of bad things when he was younger as well. My old boxing coach told me he had an amateur fighter of his matched to fight Tyson. After the first round, he went to the corner and told him he doesn't want to continue, as Mike was obviously going to put him out. So he walks out to the start of the round, takes a knee with his glove resting on the ground to surrender and end the fight. Mike apparently dropped super low, and gave him a left hook to the back of the elbow breaking his arm as he tried to quit the fight.

Mike is genuinely a gentle person. When you saw him wilding out was when he was provoked or disrespected. But a lot of the videos don’t show that. They tried then, and subtly now, to make him out to be a monster and he wasn’t. He hated being in that mode
Yeah… no. Anyone who bites a guy’s ear off and rapes women is a monster.
Absolutely. I saw through the media doing that to him when i was a kid, and I'm so glad he got the chance to chill out in his older years and show the world the real Mike Tyson. It's crazy how even the most gentle hearted people can turn into absolute beasts when it is required of them.
Mike Tyson seems like he developed BPD. Is a serious emotional burden on those who have it. He was traumatized, beaten, used. He lashing out like a psycho is his alter ego defending his inner child.
If Mike was nasty maybe he would have S him.
He was a monster when he was younger. He admits that himself. He stated, "that guy, I see that guy as a platform for me to get away from that guy" in reference to his younger self. He was all rage and ego. He was a convicted rapist. He's one of the few people who actually matured and got over his faults and he doesn't like to remember the guy he used to be, except to remember not to become him again.
I never thought I would get so much from listening to Mike. Dude is rare, an athlete and damn near genius at perceiving the world and people around him.
