  • We discuss the phenomena of charging current and how it appears in amperometry, voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, We describe that charging current is a non-Faradaic process and is due to the movement of ions and is really due to a capacitance nature of an electrode interface in a solution.

Very nice video. I was wondering about what is the time span in which the charging current dissipates in an amperometry setting (e.g chronoamperometry)?

If the electrode is bare less than a second, but once you start adding polymers to the electrode surface it can really stretch this out to tens of seconds, when we do our workshops everyone gets to perform several chronoamperometric experiments and you see the phenomena is real time - www.dev.zimmerpeacock.com/general-9
