@@DrDeuteron Thanks for the explanation but it took a great teacher like Feynman , on video, to explain to a dummy like me that part of the explanation lies in how many times a particle can decay. This simplifies the story for a general math numbskull like me. I say all short lived particles are composed of a spray of profuse neutrino-like fundamental particles some of which have taken a core long lived particle with them thereby decaying into that/ those particles. I don't believe in quantum field theory.
