    Kristy, I want you to know how indebted I am to you. You helped me fall in love with watercolor, you taught me so much about it and you still teach me so much about it. Honestly, I probably would not still be painting if it wasn't for you. You taught me to let go and have fun! ❤ I hope you know how much a appreciate you. I approach watercolor as both my therapy, my hobby, and now my goal is to make it my full time job. All thanks to you ❤

    Kristy, when I started my crafting journey (and when I say crafting journey I mean ALL the things lol starting with junk journaling, to watercolor, to art journaling, to mixed media, back to art journaling and then looping all the way back to watercolor fusing them all together, lol) your ideologies and your take and approach to watercolor has imprinted on me and I’ve transferred what I’ve learned from you from craft to craft - practice to practice. Your passion, advocacy for artists and the act of art, and just your overall love for art and all things artsy is admirable. Thank you for sharing your passion with us. It has changed the artsy lives of so many ❤ Thank You.

    I owe my obsession and great love for watercolor to two people. The legendary Bob Ross, who got me started, and the legendary Kristy Rice, who kept me going. ❤❤❤

      @@KristyRice I was practicing leaves last night and had some AH-HA!! moments when I figured out my grip was too tight and not low enough on the ferrule, and my strokes ended too fast. Just like you said!!! I was so excited! And I took notes too - I always do! I take notes on everything 👀

    Use whatever is easiest and most affordable to get your hands on.
    Is good advice to buy material that is inviting to use and has little intimidating ability.
    In contrast to expensive high quality materials that already have a very high intimidating value and mostly just lie around because it is difficult to overcome to use it.

    Thanks for this video! I am still a novice, but having a blast. I am trying to make backgrounds for cards, too. I keep trying to get others to try it, ... there are so many different ways... no one way. Anyone could have fun.i just put on the color and fool around. If i don't like it, i cut it into quarters, and sometimes i see a whole new picture i can enhance, or it is just a great background. Also, i discovered i can use black pens and draw flowers or balloons on top of the new background. It looks so cool.
    I just got Academy Paper, too and Brusho for Christmas. Love that brusho! I also got a Bockingford tablet that has a great rating, but it warped so badly... i was shocked. It says it won't. Maybe if i lay something on it tomorrow. It was pretty wet, but so was tne Academy paper. But the Academy was in a block. Both had the same gsm and 140 lbs, but such a difference in how they reacted to the wet. I do like the Academy and its texture. It takes time and fun practice.

    Amazing class!! 🤗😍 Have you done a video comparing paintbrushes? Like talking about the different shapes and strokes they make. What makes a good watercolor brush? What are the differences between acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and oil paintbrushes? As a novice, paintbrushes are overwhelming!! 🤦‍♀️

      Wonderful paint for more transitional watercolor approaches. Great for glazing :) Very smooth, sheer generally and highly pigmented.

    Great video, so good to have all the info in one place! I’ve been watching for a while but it’s always helpful to go back to basics once in a while to be reminded of techniques etc! I have to admit though, I don’t get on with my dagger brushes as much as I’d hoped after watching your videos, I tend to lean towards my round brushes but your videos on brush techniques have helped!

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  11 часов назад +1

      Then enjoy those rounds! Whatever works for you is a good option!
