TUTORIAL: DIY Mount & Dimmer (for tube lights)

- Here's Part 2 of our DIY LED Tube Light tutorial. In this video I'll show you how to make an awesome mount for your DIY LED tube lights. While this is geared specifically towards being used with the lights I made, you could use the mount for any standard LED or fluorescent tubes as well (including Quasar science or Kino Flo tubes). The dimmer is a great addition for our DIY tube lights, and will give you some added functionality. Like all our DIY projects I tried to make this mount and dimmer in a way that was accessible to those of us without fancy tools or tons of resources, and I tried to show the process in a way that could be easily modified for whatever length or amount of lights you want to use. As always let me know below if you have any comments or questions about this project!

Very cool videos both this and the custom LED tubing video. I would love to see what the light output looks like on camera just to see what the light push is on the subject to see if its comparable to a Kino Flo, Quasar, or MachTech tube.
Thanks! I've been meaning to share some footage, will hopefully be able to in the near future. These are bright but nowhere near as bright as some of the quasars I've used. I'll be sure to share some footage soon though! :)
How the FLUFF do you have so few subscribers???!!!! Your production quality is insane and your tutorials are so thorough! I look forward to seeing you grow. Thanks for saving me a LOT of money on kino’s ;)
IDK! Tell your friends 🤗 thanks so much for the kind words and be sure to share your build once you're done!
Nice. Can't wait to try this. Great job.
Thanks! :) :)
Absolutely loved the video and the way you explain things!
I've just bought 4x 4FT T8 Led Tube lights (20Watt) from Amazon.
Do you think it's possible to convert them using a dimmer controller?
I'm based in the UK, so not sure about power output differences, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Awesome! And thanks so much. Do you have a link to the product? I'll take a look and see, but I assume you could connect them to a dimmer
@@DroiMedia Wow! Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it.
I'm not sure how youtube would react to me posting an amazon link in the comment section but here it goes (I'll shorten the link, just in case)
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089LV1ZW3, if not, if you open Amazon ".co.uk" and type B089LV1ZW3, they'll show up - sold by Brillihood Store (£54.99)
Appreciate your time!
Thanks for sharing mate 💪💪💪
Thanks for watching and the comment 🤗🤗🤗
how much money do you spend on this project to do
Hi Rohit! If you look through the links in the description you'll see this dimmer (w/ everything but the lights pretty much) will cost around $50 USD. It might be more/less depending on your needs, how many you make, and what products you ultimately end up purchasing. You can find alternatives for the dimmer, power cord, and splitter, just be aware that they will need to be rated for the correct wattage/amps of whatever lights you're using.
Very cool build. I've been thinking of doing something similar for a while. What bulbs did you go with?
Thanks! I used my DIY ones (ruclips.net/video/qnP8-wJVAlI/видео.html) - for this build I used industry standard clips so you could use KinoFlo tubes, Quasar science tubes, or any other tubes that are approximately 1.5" in diameter.
Great! Can you share dimmer link please)
Argh! I knew I forgot something - the links have been updated in the description! :) :) :)
Hi
In part 1 you used light stripes, can you change the color of these ones?
Yeah! I have a longer one with some RGBW LEDs in them, remote controlled, very nice easy to use. I cannot change the color of the ones in that video though, they are daylight balanced unless I add some gels! Hope that answers your question! :)
Hi sir I am india indian cost how much this project cost
And. Using the square tube menace any disadvantage. Tel me sir
No real disadvantage to using square tube as far as I can tell. As for the price in India I'm not sure, I can only speak to how much it cost me here in the US.
Ok sir thank you i am. Used this method and. starting the business.
I am ask any. Dout means pls help me sir.
Awesome video..is there a way to do this without getting into the electrical components?
You could buy a dimmer! Most LEDs have dimmer compatibility issues though, so you'd need to find one that works with LED strips.
@@DroiMedia I see..I'm new to these things..I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible without interfering with electrical components and not having wires all over the place..
Well done!
Thanks, Erik! 🤗🤗🤗
Knocking these DIY projects out of the park! Another great one, cheers!
Thanks gents 😘👍
