During my search for a document a few minutes ago, I came across an article about Barrington in my local newspaper (Sunday Express 25th March, 2007) titled, Jamaica- born student hopes to become...First black to fly around the world alone -OPA-LOCKA. The article was accompanied by two pictures, one where he's shaking the hands of students and the other of him in his aircraft waving goodbye. I was so impressed that I took the article to school for my students to read because I was an elementary teacher at that time. I followed his journey as much as I could until he returned to a tumultuous welcome. So here I am today, driven by curiosity on finding the old article as to what had become of him, and I typed in his name. Sir, I am extremely proud of you, your accomplishments and the fact that you have not used your God-given achievements to chase after fame and fortune, but you are uplifting young people to give them hope. Continued blessings. BTW, I'm writing from the Caribbean Trinidad and Tobago to be exact.

My little girl just had me come to a deal at her school where they had made solar go carts and you was there doing a book signing. At the time I had no idea who you were but she got a signed copy of your book which I just finished. Loved the book but I had no idea I was right beside a person who had done something so absolutely amazing!!! I wish I had at least said hello lol what your doing with the kids is awesome! So glad I read your book. It was a pleasure getting to at least say I seen you in person.

Thanks to National Geographic for partnering with so many interesting & beneficial projects. Mr. Irving has certainly accomplished a lot and has a very philanthropic outlook. I'm in my early 30s and have just recently started training to become a professional pilot, he has just stoked up my motivation greatly. Perhaps I could be a winged humanitarian as well. Thanks a ton Barrington Irving, & also thanks for not becoming another football star.
