McDo PH's adverts were has a nuanced and subtle approach than Jollibee ones but equally heart-wrenching and moving. While Jollibee's storyline were a little bit stretched and theatrical, McDo's commercials were based upon touching real-life moments, subtle but impactful. McDo PH started it and several other brands including Jollibee followed...it's an effective way to capture the attention and emotion of the masses. It's a great marketing style.
