I grew up on Hydrox, and like them far more than the other cookie. I was delighted when they brought them back. They can be hard to find, but Cracker Barrel carries them in their stores. I love that they are made in the U.S. and that they use better products. The other cookie used lard and high fructose corn syrup in their product and they are made in another country.
Apperently ive heard that the company that owns oreo is making it so that hydrox is harder to find in retial stores? But i think you might be able to find them on amazon
I also grew up eating Hydrox. I always liked Hydrox better and I was disappointed when they stopped making them. The difference is the white filling in Hydox is more like a powdered sugar mixture and has a better taste than the Oreo.
Hydrox came out at a time w/very little regulation and when non-food additives in food were common, so Hydrox’s name, contracting hydrogen + oxygen, was meant to evoke purity-unadulterated ingredients vs. the plaster dust added to stretch food. It sounds chemical to us now, but at the time, it was the opposite, a major break towards the natural from the so-artificial-it-was-industrial norm.
I think the majority will choose Oreo, but I will choose Hydrox because Oreo stole the recipe from him, but because Oreo is more popular, they accused Hydrox of stealing, even though they did the opposite. Well, in fact, when I was young, I preferred Oreo, but now Hydrox because Oreo is not worthy

The woman on the show likes the Oreos, because, as she said, she "grew up on high fructose corn syrup" so her taste buds are attuned to that, NOT the real sugar that Hydrox uses. I grew up on Hydrox and like them best... but here in Israel, we get Oreos, though I have seen other "creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies" on some grocery store shelves. I just have NOT tried them, yet.
Actually Oreo in other countries are made with real sugars. Cause Corn Syrups was banned in many countries. So Oreo actually taste better in other countries compared to Hydrox. I think their biscuit is not as crunchy as oreo.
I was introduced to Oreo only after growing up with Hydrox. No comparison...Oreos contain more cream filling and are sweeter. I like Hydrox...but it is hard to find them in most stores.
Oreos have never been my favorite and now I know why. They Hydrox is so much better. It tastes real and the Oreo tastes artificial. I do my best to avoid HFCS. I got a 6 pack of Hydrox off Amazon. I’m glad to support a product made in America.
The name has nothing to do with why Hydrox lost to Oreo people. Hydrox sales were booming for those 4 years before Oreo copied them. Oreo just used clever advertisements and commercials to create more buzz about their product. They also raised their prices to make Hydrox look like the cheaper knock off version. Sneaky.
Always thought Hydrox were actually better... Something about the creme... Both Hydrox and Oreos are chock full of chemical preservatives, but Hydrox tastes like they've always used less...

Hydrox = hydrogen + oxygen; meant to signify natural ingredients w/o extras like plaster dust instead of flour. That was before regulation and a revolutionary approach by Hydrox.
Many like oreos, but don't know the dark history behind it. I suggest others to take a look at it. I never heard or tasted one before, but I won't ever eat an oreo again.
If you think this is bad, there are many other companies in the early days that got away with stealing due to not many laws existing to tackle them. Many of the brands you know today may even be like Oreos.
@LemonadeSnake Looking at the history of Oreos, Adolphus Green ROBBED them off their idea, hard work and even their LIFE! The filling was actually NOT cream as advertised! They had to change their tagline, thanks to this. Even if you taste Oreos now, it feels like icing, while Hydrox tastes like actual cream ( as I heard. We don't have Hydrox here ). This act of Adolphus made the Loose Brothers seek revenge ( One of them was ill. I forgot their name. ). However they failed. Even now, people only remember OREOS and not anything about Hydrox, the original. I know there are multiple companies that have made knockoffs of various products and are still making great profits, the situation is the same. A guy robbed someone else and the victim is believed to be the robber. The only difference is that the Loose brothers had lost their life, giving up on revenge. Even now, if you ask a thousand people, only one will know that Hydrox is the original. This dark history was covered up for a long time.
@@Realbenski75 First off, this comment is like 9 months old, and second - yes, I have had an Oreo, when I was really young. Oreo is everything a modern citizen needs: palm oil, palm fat, artificial vanillin flavor and moisturizer for the cream inside, high-fructose corn syrup and artificial chocolate aroma. And dirt cheap to produce (and health goes to hell). 🤨🤔But Hydrox is really retro: real chocolate cookie with real cane sugar and real vanilla cream. 😋😛 UNFORTUNATELY Hydrox sound like Clorox or another toilet cleaner. Big fail in Marketing.
