She truly lost everything in that sad cycle of violence. She can't even play guitar at the end. It's heartbreaking but so infinitely human. I loved it.
It is incredibly heartbreaking. I like to think she gained a little bit of herself back at the end though when she was able to forgive Joel and let Abby live.
I know her not being able to play the guitar anymore kinda got mensad and upset at the lenght she went in for that quest of revenge. With The Last of Us Part II I really got lucky to get to experience it. I actually had to pause the game to take a break atbsome part simple because it was too much for me. That game literally managed to break the 4th wall as they got me to mourn Joel for real actually. I guess that's what was to much for some people to accept what happened and somehow got some of then to deny what happened cause it was just too much to handle I guess...
By letting Abby go, and letting Lev have his own "Joel" in the form of Abby, she did something that would eventually lead to her healing, something revenge would never have given her. (Abby does not heal after killing Joel. Her nightmares and restless sleep continue. It was only after she forms aa bond with Lev and Yara and chooses to protect them does she have her first peaceful sleep in a long time).
@@PRATIK1900 infind it sad some peoppe just don't get it really at the end thatvl things had to stop at a point too. The conclusion these characters was super well done as it got us conflicted over theirbpast action and questioning their lresent choice as they were gonna bring their own lost for the quest thatvwas consuming both Abby and Ellie in different ways. As theirnquest were destroying themselves from within in a way.
I’m pretty sure in an interview or something they hinted that TLOU2 won’t be the last, so there is most likely gonna be TLOU3. Because there was no way it ended like that. The fact that Ellie was left alone in the end definitely couldn’t have been the end
@@jorbman2093 or maybe they were working on them back to back that's why it took them so long? like infinity war and endgame? that would be an unexpected surprise but a welcome one
I truly believe this game was received by some fans poorly because it was emotionally exhausting. One of the bleakest stories I've heard. And it took the community far outside of their comfort zone. It may not be exactly what the die hards wanted, but it's that much better for it. And exactly the story that needs to be told. Respect to Naughty Dog for their courage.
“If you try to please audiences, uncritically accepting their tastes, it can only mean that you have no respect for them: that you simply want to collect their money.” - Andrei Tarkovsky
Yeah, but it’s baffling to me that people who could love TLOU1 could somehow miss how challenging that game was with the way it ended. Joel as both hero and villain, clearly, but they somehow managed to miss that. I guess that shows the emotional maturity you’re dealing with sometimes and yeah, those people just don’t quite grasp what TLOU2 is trying to do, hence the hate.
People got sensitive about this stuff. Characters are always dying in movies, TV shows, video games and one character dies in The Last of Us and then they’re sending death threats to the people of Naughty Dog. Those people need to grow the hell up. It’s an amazing game.
What I really don't get is that if you dismiss the story, the game IS actually very good in itself. Why would you hate the magnus opus of the medium you claim to.love ? Also, protagonists started dying after 9/11, haters weren't even born... I just don't get it.
Most people say they hated the game but I think this was the most realistic sequel I’ve seen in games because not everyone always has a good ending and not every game ends how the player wants it to
that's how the way of violence goes so many forms of media have portrayed this " the good guy doesn't get the "good" ending " trope. Hell , "Scarface" for example , amazing film. Even if Joel never died Ellie would practically live the same life due to her lifestyle & environment. The last of us universe is damn depressing. There's no obligation from Naughty Dog fans that the devs should make a fucking happy game & keep your favorite character alive boo boo that's how cruel the world is, It's literally a character. This game is fucking amazing 11/10.
The part from 3:45, the quick flash of Joel smiling and young Ellie laughing and then Ellie crying? The immediate follow up of Joel on the porch and Ellie crying harder? Congratulations man. You fucking got me. I mean, the whole video in general got me, but that part in particular really hurt. I can't stop crying. Well done, I love it
"This game broke me, and I loved every second of it." Yep.... Pretty much what this vid did to me. This is so fucking well done Lauren. Only you could condense a 30 hour game into under 5 minutes and make it all make sense. That last quote is what I thought you'd put there! It's so perfect but so fuckin sad. The build up to the mayhem at the end is SO GOOD!!! And you got Owen in there!!! (Again, glad I could help with that. ;)
this whole story is so incredibly human and filled with desolation. I love the first game so much but genuinely i wouldn’t love it as much if it wasn’t for this game.
TLOU2 made me feel things in a way no other game or piece of media ever has. I haven't been able to get the story or the characters out of my head since I finished it. I think it's a heartbreaking and brutal masterpiece and this video captures it all perfectly. Amazing job!
And that's why people can't understand it, therefore they hate it. This story is so cruel and brutal, it's not for casual gamers. I personally love it and have the same feelings.
I feel this game had the same effect on me as the first, where it ruins video games for a while since nothing can compete with it. An absolute masterpiece.
2:35. Ellie: "I have to finish it". Owen: "Finish what? Try to find the people who killed my family. Torture them till they are crying" (With Dina literally crying while pleading Ellie to stay). Then Ellie kills Owen, Abby's friend; and Abby kills Jesse, Ellie's friend; with Abbt saying "you killed my friends"... wow... well done.
@@majorevangelism Owen's arc kinda raises the larger question of how far someone with a moral center is willing to go along with a ruthless dictator for a measure of comfort and security...
I pity the people who can’t appreciate a story with actual consequences. The story transpired the way it did because humans do these things. I know for a FACT that if I was forced to watch my sister be bludgeoned to death in front of me by a group of strangers I would drop everything in my life to find them and see them die screaming, regardless of their motivations. I simply would not care. It’s a form of suicide. For people with depression, sometimes when they see the only way to escape as being death, they will take it. If the only way to escape the image of my sister crying, screaming, her face falling apart in front of me, was to scrape myself hollow and abandon everything, then I most certainly would. It isn’t about “revenge bad” it’s about understanding that people who do shitty things sometimes do them because they feel they have no other choice. It’s about empathising, and understanding when people can’t forgive and forget. It’s about appreciating the awesome power (if you’ll forgive the cliche) of love, and appreciating what you have. There’s so much to take away from this. I seriously do not know why people didn’t like it.
Yes. To me this game isn't about revenge, it's about dealing with trauma and finding inner peace, and people will absolutely do ANYTHING for that peace inside. First she was on the verge of being at peace with her past and ready to move on and Abby took it from her. She's angry at herself for not being able to forgive Joel and mend their relationship before Joel dies. So she believes the only way to find peace again is to kill Abby. Later in the farm, she literally cannot eat or sleep, she pursues Abby more for herself to have an end to it all than for avenging Joel. Ultimately, people react to trauma differently and extremely. But mostly they do what they do to fix themselves, however unfortunate and misguided those actions are.
It's a forced horseshit. The game would be a bit better if the 12 hour Abby was at the start and ended with seeing Owen dead. Then u jump to Joel and Tommy with the guitar at the official start. Then u go and play ellie

PERFECT. THIS EDIT IS FUCKING PERFECT. THANK YOU FOR THIS. best video game franchise HANDS DOWN. ive never felt so emotional over a single game let alone TWO. thank you naughty dog for the the perspective changing sequel albeit a bit lacking in some parts and a MASTERPIECE of a first game.
Oh man this is fantastic, like watching an uncontrolled decent into madness. Superb editing as always, the choices of scenes and snippets work so well together and are matched beautifully to the overarching narration. And that choice of dialogs from TLOU at the end was PERFECTION. New context from Grable is always a welcome sight!
One of the most emotionally exhausting and painful games I ever played. I was so drained at the end of the game. I waited for this game for years and I still have so many mixed emotions. But as I’ve reflected and pondered about this game more, I’ve come to appreciate it. It’s so melancholic, emotional, and tragic. It feels so real. I’ve never hated loving something more as much as I love this game. I think about it everyday. Great video, as always.
Thank you for summarizing your experience. I am glad that you found it to be meaningful and worthwhile. As for me, you saved me from the trouble of playing it for myself. I am overflowing with emotional exhaustion and pain, fraught with an abundance of melancholy and tragedy.
"This game broke me, and I loved every second of it." I couldn't agree more. The Last of Us Part 2 has been everything I hoped for and more. Despite spoiling the fact of Joel's death through the leaks, I still cried, screamed, and felt shock, pain and anguish at the scene, and seeing Ellie descend into this journey of revenge was equal parts satisfying and sickening to behold. Abby's backstory sequence was an interesting direction, but was as heartwarming as it was brutal to think about given your actions earlier as Ellie. The ending left me satisfied despite Ellie not pulling through with her quest for vengeance, for once showing mercy, to crescendo her moral growth throughout the story. Bravo you for creating this perfect video, and bravo Naughty Dog for creating this beautifully perfect yet harrowing sequel.
I totally agree. Everyone saying they dont like the game but i disagree. I loved it from beginning to end and im glad im not the only one who cried at joels death. I froze to stone at that moment and that, that is what makes a good game
Couldn’t agree with you more. I thought it was a beautifully haunting game about the demons inside of us who would go to great lengths to avenge the ones we love. I truly enjoyed it.
@@RustleXer "would go to great lengths to avenge the ones we love" but she didn't avenge anything :/ she just slaughtered dozens of people who, alot of times, had noting to do with Joel's death.
This game is a piece of art, like it or not naughty dog made a spectacular game with an amazing plot. And they finished it exactly how they wanted to finish it, Last Of Us was never about hope or happy endings. There is no hope, no catharsis in the apocalypse, even revenge means nothing in the face of such an existential threat. And I respect them for doing it, for seeing this thing through and telling this story. Last of us 2 isn’t a game you will ever replay but it doesn’t have to be it sticks in your head and that’s what matters. That’s art.
You really showcase exactly what makes this game a masterpiece. Such a great, powerful edit that gets at the core of this game's message. These four minutes let me re-appreciate the game all over again.
Holy shit, that gave me chills! This song has always felt like it had dark undertones to it and you've married it perfectly with this incredible story! Bravo! For a game that is so brutal, visceral in fear and emotions, it also feels like the most human game I've played. It turns the concept of revenge on it's head and tells a story of two people who lost their way.
5 months later and I still watch this religiously lol. this video just captures the whole game so beautifully. every time someone has something to say about this game, I always come back to this and think “HOW??” perfect editing, you did so well with this👏🏼
Maria will always welcome her back to start over. :) I think another part of the story's message is that, although there may be no second chances, it's never too late to do right (MLK).
One of the greatest games ever made. Hands down. One of the most powerful experiences I've had in Interactive Entertainment. This was more than just your "average game" which is (unfortunately) why so many people don't get it. Love the video. Keep up the great work.
Theres nothing to get - the story characters and execution were all handled poorly , which is way alot of the fans ended up dissapointed they had to wait 7 years for......this
oh my god. so i finally got around to playing and finishing the game. and its just. a masterpiece. about trauma and love and revenge and i cannot stop thinking about it. and this. just takes that incredibly long story and compresses it under five minutes. the music choice? perfect. the ramping up as the song does? excellent. editing is amazing. taking ellie's line about her fears from the first game and tying it in at the end over her sitting in the ocean? so fucking good. i still have goosebumps.
One of the things I loved about this game was the true sense of loss and being alone, like the last quote says, she is scared of ended up alone, having nothing and no one, and that is exactly what happens in this game. I don’t know how many noticed it, but when she eventually goes back to her farm house at the end of the game, the most powerful thing in my eyes was when she tried to play the guitar, that last connection she had with Joel, gone, she can’t play how she would like, and it is heartbreaking to see that she has truly lost the last thing Joel gave to her.
Oh man, I am not okay. This game was an absolutely masterpiece and it broke me. It was heartbreaking, it had some sweet, beautiful moments in it, but it was also one hell of a brutal journey. Your video reflected that. Amazing. Truly amazing work. I feel like I'm mourning characters that aren't even real.
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI The story was so clever, so smartly put together and very disturbing and unsettling. I've been a fan of the Last of Us since the first one came out and what the writers did was one hell of mindfuck. They kill a character we love, making us hate Abby. I wanted that bitch to suffer and die, and then we see Abby her point of view and we realise that in fact Joel is the bad guy in this story, even Ellie is the bad guy. What Abby did was in no way different than what Ellie did. At least Abby only went after Joel. Ellie killed all of Abby her friends. Like I said, this was a mindfuck. If you think this story was horrible, than that is because you're letting yourself be clouded by your emotions. And I get that. I truly do. We're supposed to hate what happened.
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI you're welcome to dislike the story, but don't blame the writing just because it didn't appeal to you. It's incredibly well written and, in my opinion, an even better story than the first one. I was very vocal against it when I heard Naughty dog was making a sequel, since I thought the first one was just perfect as it was, but now I'm just glad they did and hoping they'll even make another game in this franchise.
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI 1- It's called Character Development, it means when changes occur to a character through circumstances in the game, it hapoens when characters change. In the beginning of the first game, Joel did not like Ellie and did not want to deliver her to the fireflies, but at the end of the first game, he began to love Ellie as if she were his own daughter. Does that mean that the story was badly written? No! It only shows that humans can change. The same thing happened in part 2. This is 5 years later, Joel is now part of an organized town, he is no more on the run and hiding amongst building away from bad people, he now has his own house and his brother, and brothers wife to care for him in a beautiful town, of course he is going to go through character change and not be suspicious of everybody, all the time unlike when he was passing through all those bad places in part 1. 2- In the game, we are told that Jackson regularly recruits people to join them and expand the Town's population, they also trade with outsiders for valuable stuff like the coffee Joel is seen drinking in one of the flashbacks. Infact by the time Joel and Tommy meets Abby's team, Tommy is already trying to recruit them to join Jackson, they are young men and women, they can help with farming, hunting and defending the town seeing as Joel, Tommy and Maria are already getting old. This has nothing to do with bad writing, they recruit people regularly, unfortunately this time, it was a group of people who were looking to kill Joel. They also just survived a horde of infected in heavy snow. What was Joel supposed to do? Go back outside and get killed by the infected? 3- Joel is not so clever, he is a survivor but there are many times he would have died even in part 1. a- outside the quarantine zone when that soldier catches him and Tess with Ellie, if Ellie had not stabbed the soldier on the leg, they would have definitely been killed. b- in that restaurant after the hotel basement where he was ambushed by that bad guy and was almost drowned in a puddle of water, if Ellie had not picked up the gun and shot the bad guy, he would have drowned. c- when he fell on that sharp bar and was bleeding out, if Ellie had not found antibiotics, and fed him through the winter, he would have died. You all are making him to be some kind of terminator when there is literal proof that he almost died many times in part one if not for plot armour. 4- The story is about forgiveness. Ellie was on bad relations with Joel. Abby killed Joel before Ellie could patch her relationship with him. Ellie became like a drug addict and her drug was revenge, she was angry at Joel but refuse to analyse why, instead using blind revenge to mask her anger and pain, by the time she gets to Abby she fully realises why she feels the way she does and that killing Abby will never solve that. In that moment she forgives Joel in her heart and lets Abby go. Check thisis very short video. This guy did not also understand the story. m.ruclips.net/video/UJ-Ly__HBJg/видео.html
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI at the beginning of the game you could read notes about how the people of Jackson are open to meeting people outside their settlement and stuff. Further evident about how Joel got his coffee at the ending scene. They have moved past being hostile to everyone and accept outsiders.

3:19 - One of the reasons I love this game is because it makes me question whether I saw what I thought I saw (in a sincere way)--usually through a moral lens; this time in a physical sense: for example, watching this trailer, I realized that Abby didn't just shoot Tommy through the head, but through the temple and out the eye.
Fuck...I watched your video right after I finished the game. I feel like my soul is been torn, ripped away. Your editing skills are godlike btw, I will keep this video in my mind-playlist of videos I need to see to remind me which piece of audiovisual art changed my life.

that would be perfect if u could somehow place that dialog somewhere where Joel said "I would do it all over again" this was the best edit I ever saw so far
“I’m scared of ending up alone” holy shit that line is heavy. Her actions and thirst for revenge cost her everything. Jesse, Tommy, Dina, JJ, her home and her ability to play guitar. She could have quit after Seattle, just goes to show revenge is a lonely path.
Those people need to hate someone(in the game), it works on the first half of the game, was made in that way to make us feel hate, and when they saw that things don’t go that way, showing us Abby’s side, they hated the game. Man... incredible experience, I loved it and I feel bad for who didn’t
Ohhh look how I come running back to this video 😞 it’s basically perfect. I love how you’re still interacting with people who comment on it to this day as well! Lots of love for this masterpiece ❤️
Honestly. When they make season 2 of the show. They HAVE to play exit music for a film in the show at some point. I even have a moment in mind. The very end. Ellie holds her guitar in the empty farmhouse after her flashback to joel. We see her walk back up the stairs and put down the guitar as she cant plsy it anymore due to her missing fingers. She goes outside and starts walking in the direction we see her going into in the game. Only we dint get that shit from the window like we did in the game. We get on her face. This song plays as she walks and we see her start to break down from everything as she walks. Fade to black. This song leafs us to the credits. Thats the end of season 2.
This is the best fan edits I’ve seen so far... It stuck inside my head ever since I've watched this video. I don’t know when it will go away, probably it never will, but I don’t care.
Yo this is incredible. This could have been the trailer for the game. Probably too many spoilers for Naughty dog to post but by god well done! Best summation of the story I have seen!

I just hopenshe can relearn how to play the guitar but now being a right handed playing instead of a left handed player as she started like. Just sonshebstill has one thing to commemorate Joel in a way she can get over it and accept it as it is. Cause there isnprobably nothing thatvl she can do that she can change the past.
Man this game seriously broke me 2 weeks days for days after the game came out. When I was rewatching certain key scenes I'd still cry over those as I had such a fresh wound still open. Man I've manage to kinda nkt break into tears again.
But man I'll have to wait untio Inget tonpkay it again with my sister and her fiance. Cause man that'll definitely break me down into tears for sure l know it.
That game really was a master piece to me l. It really has manage to make me go through a shit tone of emotion in one story just within that one game. Inactually went nearly in all the spectrumnof emotion I could have went through I think. God that was such a good game.
Especially since this was the only game I'd play this year probably as I don't even own the console I got to play the game. That really was one of a kind to get the chance to experience it.
Saddly didn't manage to get the chance to play the first game as I've watch it online simply cause I didn't owned a Playstation.
Like we've had enough of the cycle of violence and revenge as that nearly literally brought them all tontheir own lost.
Plus Lev was probably one of the coolest characters ever cause with out him the game would have surely ended up being unsatisfying for Abby to kill Dina and Ellie at the theater. The conclusion these characters was super well done as it got us conflicted over theirbpast action and questioning their lresent choice as they were gonna bring their own lost for the quest thatvwas consuming both Abby and Ellie in different ways. As theirnquest were destroying themselves from within in a way.

it made a ton of money for sony, there is a good chance of TLOU3, but it depends on the team of course if they have good ideas to continue the story..
I’m pretty sure in an interview or something they hinted that TLOU2 won’t be the last, so there is most likely gonna be TLOU3. Because there was no way it ended like that. The fact that Ellie was left alone in the end definitely couldn’t have been the end

@@DavidHunter Playing TLOU Part 2 requires enough emotional maturity to understand it
What I really don't get is that if you dismiss the story, the game IS actually very good in itself. Why would you hate the magnus opus of the medium you claim to.love ? Also, protagonists started dying after 9/11, haters weren't even born... I just don't get it.
Most people say they hated the game but I think this was the most realistic sequel I’ve seen in games because not everyone always has a good ending and not every game ends how the player wants it to
I’m with you
that's how the way of violence goes so many forms of media have portrayed this " the good guy doesn't get the "good" ending " trope. Hell , "Scarface" for example , amazing film. Even if Joel never died Ellie would practically live the same life due to her lifestyle & environment. The last of us universe is damn depressing.
Dude Yaaaaaassssssss

One of my first thoughts after finishing the game was actually: "I can't wait until Grable makes a video edit of this".

I am overflowing with emotional exhaustion and pain, fraught with an abundance of melancholy and tragedy.
perfect choice of music and clips! ellie and abby really are one united by their endless cycle of loss and violence in the name of revenge

Man i loved this game. I loved this edit. Really felt the emotions in a way i can't explain.
Holy fuck this is the best edit ive ever seen 😭
Oh man, I am not okay. This game was an absolutely masterpiece and it broke me. It was heartbreaking, it had some sweet, beautiful moments in it, but it was also one hell of a brutal journey. Your video reflected that. Amazing. Truly amazing work. I feel like I'm mourning characters that aren't even real.
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI no lol the story is not horrible
@Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI
1- It's called Character Development, it means when changes occur to a character through circumstances in the game, it hapoens when characters change.

Aw that's sad when she said im scared of ending up alone 😭😭
Saw that Druckmann tweeted out this link. What a phenomenal edit.
People hate on the story cause it's a tragic one yet that what makes it much more meaningful.
Those people need to hate someone(in the game), it works on the first half of the game, was made in that way to make us feel hate, and when they saw that things don’t go that way, showing us Abby’s side, they hated the game. Man... incredible experience, I loved it and I feel bad for who didn’t
@@Oestrangeiro4 well said!
Ohhh look how I come running back to this video 😞 it’s basically perfect. I love how you’re still interacting with people who comment on it to this day as well! Lots of love for this masterpiece ❤️
I like how you showed Ellie’s mercy scene next to Abby’s at 3:50
Best video of tlou 2 I've ever watched. ND Inc can actually make a movie or tv series without " real ppl".
Bro that's insane! This clips + the song, never got so emotional at a game or movie. Perfect video!
I teared up by the end. Beautiful representation of why I love both these games so much. Bravo.
Yo this is incredible. This could have been the trailer for the game. Probably too many spoilers for Naughty dog to post but by god well done! Best summation of the story I have seen!
Fantastic fucking video! Great choice in song and great editing.
this game broke me, its been days since ive played it but its so hard to move on from it :(
jamoygali I’ve finished it 2 weeks and I’m still upset bro, your not alone
Yup this game is constantly on my mind
In my opinion this game wasn't as good as the first one, but this video and song are a perfect representation of the story. You've made another great video Grable424, hope to see more.
That ending shot of Ellie's bloody face turning to look at dying Joel.... just amazing
i keep coming back to this video, what a masterpiece
