I know Annette!! Years ago she took me, my sister, and my Mom into her home. She gave us a place to live when I was 10. If she had a place to live, then we had a place to lay our heads. She has a huge heart, a motherly type. I often think of her! She is an amazing woman!!! ILOVE YOU ANNETTE!! My maiden name is Laura Stanhope.

This must be so hard for you to listen to. She seems like such a lovely lady, your story definitely adds to that. I have a sister on the streets who is an addict with a myriad of mental health problems. It feels like I'm carrying a boulder on my back, every single day that i cannot help her. It kills my very soul. I'm so sorry that your dear friend has been in this situation for 30ish years, I believe she said. It's just awful 😢

My grandmother was raped twice, suffered 4 miscarriages, lost a son to drowning, had a stillborn, and so much more.. my dad said she would be rocking herself in a corner, pulling all of her hair out and screaming at the top of her lungs. My grandpa would take her multiple times to asylums because he had no idea how to handle it. Now, she is 82- she founded a w baptist church that now has 1,000 members and is as mentally and spiritually healthy as can be. I thought she was a normal ol grandma until my dad told me her past when I was a teenager. Theirs hope out there, I feel for this woman, all she has experienced is pain. I pray for some kind of relief..

I did 3-4 years on the streets suffering at my own hand through a crippling heroin addiction. That said I don’t have HALF the mental fortitude of this poor lady.
I was emaciated, half dead, 5’9 115 pounds soaking wet. I wouldn’t have made it 10 years let alone 40. I hope this lady finds peace, some sobriety, and a modicum of inner happiness before her mortal coil burns out. I was given 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th chances to figure it out. Not everyone is so lucky.
Remember where you came from so you can understand where you’re going. Remember where you came from so you never make the mistake twice. Remember where you came from so you can stay grounded in humility. Remember where you came from because there’s ALWAYS work to be done.

💯. Annette, no one was 'allowed' to say the word "incest" in the 1970s. Back then the theory was it was one in a million. You say you wished you could have got help for yourself. The chances, had you told, would be nil anyone would have believed you. I told (I'm just 10 years younger than her), & I got punished instead of helped. And it continued. Even now, kids are told they're making it up. Their own mothers often chose men over their own flesh & blood. You are a lovely woman who deserves the best in the time you have left, which is a long time because you have a genuine 💓. 🌹

And like the others have said, we can't help someone who isn't asking for it, or hasn't expressed the willingness to make changes and accept help. Most folks will go on to the bitter end in this lifestyle. That's the reality. What's normal to you is not necessarily normal to the next guy or gal.

Abuse from any family members should not be tolerated at all, normal folk do not understand it could ruin a person. Praying for this lady for closure, and God's Guardian Angles to keep her strong. Family abuse,Family abandonment is not good for any human being & to be kicked to the curb cause we're the black sheep in the family, should never be accepted in life, it exists and Im one of those people, and many more exist to this day, we're the silent majority cause no one wants to hear about it, and when we tell someone, all professionals say move forward, as they do not know what its like, to never have Holiday Celebrations with family, or no one to call. People like us have lost most of our friends, and dealing with family abuse/abandonment it's hard to even trust most people. I feel for this woman, my God keep her strong, most people would have checked themselves out, or turned to hard deugs to cope, not all of have went down that dark turn.

I’ve watched 30 or more of these train wreck videos. I had a great childhood. Got a Schwinn bicycle. Went to Disneyland. We ate hungry man dinners on snack trays and my childhood was cool as fuck.
    I owned a go cart when I was 11 and a .22 rifle when I was 15.
I was a skater and my parents let me build a ramp by the driveway.
I miss my parents. They were cool as fuck. Not retard helicopter parents.
But make no mistake, my parents weren’t my friends.
    Far from it.
They were hard and flew a bullshit flag when I was trying to lie and thank God for that.
I’m awesome and happy and it’s all because I had hard ass parents

Perhaps one of the reasons people return to the street is because out there, they are "somebody." People know who they are as Annette mentioned, they know how to get things done, where to find things, they can help someone, etc. They feel important and needed. We need to find a way for everyone to feel needed and wanted.

  • @francescaspighi8365

I am crying. It's very hard to cope with the idea of a human being living in the street for 40 years. What kind of society can allow something like that? The part of the so-called civilised word is not so civilised after all. Heartbreaking.

Well, why not? She could have 2 decades or more ahead of her. I'm 72 and continue learning more everyday. I' vs thought about going back to school myself. Right now, though, I wish I was out there in California, near Skid Row - I'd really like to work with Anette, helping her with her reading and writing.I think it would boost her self confidence and help her realize how smart she really is .I was a Reading Teacher, but also had my own struggles with opiates, benzos and cocaine(crack). Before my time' s up, I'd like to help someone else.

They always have such colorful backgrounds. Crazy stories. 💔 She seems to have a sensitive soul. Her life would have turned out very differently if she had grown up in a safe and loving home.
I'm with you, Mark. Rather than teaching a bunch of stuff that won't be used in life, I'd much rather see psychology (including self awareness, relationships, personality disorders, mental illness, etc.) being taught in schools.
