I think the Valley map makes for a bit more of a beginning challenge as there are not as many points of interest. In Oxbow you can collect up to 10K worth of coin in nearly a day. This includes 2 backpacks. But both are fun. Cheers!

In Oxbow, i've played 14 ingame years and all the quests are done. All the towns and a few outside the towns, so only the questboard is there for me. Not much to do after completing all.
@@toetsietoet Yeah, the goal of the game does seem to be to automate yourself into boredom. 😆 Still, 14 in game years is quite a lot of game for the money.
Playing my first game (other than going though the valley story) in Oxbow. Question, why is there a red area around the marsh when there's no town there?
i think the Oxbow map is better mainly because there are alot more larger relatively flat area's whilst Falley basically s a mountain running through the centre of the map and this is mainly an issue for me because you cant slightly mold the surface to your liking unlike what has been done to make the NPC towns and villages.
Me too really. There's just something about the Oxbow I personally like more. 🙂 Maybe it's just that the Valley was THE map for so long, and I got tired of it. 😅
I just bought the game because I am hoping it is exactly what I am looking for but I can't really find much info. Maybe someone here with game experience can let me know some things. Can I take my time in this game? Can I set seasons to max and just play any way I want to? Will the characters age and die? Can we raise animals? Families? Will surrounding towns npcs age and die? Sorry for so many questions but none of the trailers I have watched explain any of this. Thanks to anyone willing to answer. =)
No problem, I'm happy to answer questions. 🙂 Yes, you can take your time. It's a very chill game. You can set the season length to up to 30 days (default is 3), and take your time. Your character and the people in your town do age, have children and die, and you can marry and have a child, and eventually play your child when your first character is too old, or dies. NPCs outside your town don't seem to age - I think that would make quests difficult, if quest givers died of old age. 😜 You can indeed get farm animals: chickens, geese, pigs, donkeys, horses, cows, sheep and goats. I will definitely be doing videos on these subjects, but it might take a while to get there. Maybe check out my Let's Play videos, where I try to explain things in detail as they come up.
I haven't played Dawnlands, but it's slightly similar to Valheim, but has a lot more management. You can recruit people to your village, set them to farming, producing stuff, etc. Overall much deeper than Valheim.
Just started playing, this was super helpful!
Glad it helped! 😀👌🏻
This is exactly what I've been grappling with, thank you for laying it out clearly! 😊

@@QriusMunkee Valley is probably my favorite. I like hanging Uniegost. ;-]
There are actually 3 simple large backpacks in the oxbow.
@@kckreations I know the swamp and the cave with the dead fella. Seems I do remember somewhere else... not sure where.

I’m 2 years in on the Oxbow map and the quest still says “keep an eye on the situation”
How do I trigger the quest to move forward?
It is kind of confusing, right? Go to the towns other than Piastovia, do the quests people give you there, and it’ll progress eventually. Have fun! 😀

I assume it's because there are quests that happen in the swamp, and an NPC living there.
You are correct sir. Didnt get a quest but its a weird dude that loves the swamp @QriusMunkee
Yeah, Elric’s a fun dude. 😆 There’s a quest that involves him, and another that has to do with the big tree in the swamp.
@@QriusMunkee I wonder if you have to do his dialogue in a certain way because I didn't get that. Always wondered what was up with that tree
@@bradleyroissetter6796 Nah mate, Elric doesn’t give the tree quest. You get it from a guy named Swir in Piastovia.

Yeah, I get really bored whenever I build on super flat land, so I don’t mind, but I do generally like the Oxbow better anyway.
I really like The Valley, but I'd choose my long term save in Oxbow.

well player mainly pick oxbow because of custom character creation and sandbox, not for co op mode.
@@darksiders18 Possibly, but my point was that if you want co op, you HAVE TO play on the Oxbow.
