I used to live in Alaska & carried the Taurus Raging Bull w/the 5” bbl in 454 Casull. It was THE bear slayer up there at the time. Even tho the 460 was made by S&W, it was way outa my budget. Glad to see they’re now making it in 460. When I moved, I sold the 454 to my son in law, & he still packs it up there. We had a bullet maker in Anchorage, his name was Ace Dube (pronounced Doo bee). He guaranteed his hard cast lead bullets in the 454 would go through a grizz full length any angle. Never got a chance to test his claim lol. That 460 is a beast. Wish it was a Taurus option back then. I love the options. I’m really happy you do the testing Adam. I couldn’t afford all these guns but thanks to you, I became a Ruger American fan & than a 450 BM fan. My R A 450 BM is a favorite. Now you got me thinking of this caliber lol. Keep the gun video’s coming, your wife is a treasure. You are one lucky man.
That’s a great 460 S&W magnum revolver design. TK Custom can alter the cylinder to take their stainless steel moon clips and the 45 ACP also holds 45 Detonics 460 Rowland 45 Super and 45 Winchester magnum using Starline brass. Mine is the 460V S&W X-frame with a five inch full lug muzzle brake equipped barrel.
@@WHOTEEWHO cool I bought the s&w get a good pistol scope and it'll be good to little over 200 yards with the right ammo I can't tell you which 460 ammo I used I've been out of the460 ammo but if i remember right I used the Hornady ammo
Man I can't wait to see the videos I've been looking at that same one barrel length and all I'm kinda jealous thanks for all the hard work and great videos
What u think kicks more the 460 or 500 mag I'm 68 don't want nothing to do with 500 never shot 460 what do you think wow how versatile 45 colt 454 and 460 can't beat it
@chuckkulick8635 owned them all and the 500 does kick the most. I'm 67 years old and my wisdom and gun experience has pointed out that it's the blast that is the most bothersome. I have a j frame 357 s&w that kicks harder than these big bores. I do favor the 460 over the 500 but honestly the blast out of 5-6" barrels confirmed by my chronograph proves that more powder is wasted in muzzle flash than energy. I much prefer the 454 over either the 460 or 500 because of this and unless your shooting a 460 or 500 out of a TC Encore handgun in a 10" or longer barrel, your just wasting powder in a fire ball. At least the 454 in a revolver like what HTH has the ability to use the cartridge honestly and as an also older shooter, you can still use the gun with an appropriate cartridge that actually suits what you can handle. The bonus is, as you age, you can still use the gun with the good old 45 LC. Great question.
Got the same thing a few months back, caps keep flying off red dot so put dot on fpc and put a pistol scope on the .460. Its a hand cannon with the right 460's. Love it.
That 325gr hard cast bear load in 454 is pretty freaking stout stuff. I hit one of the bolt heads on my hanging metal target and completely shattered the bolt lol.
Chamber pressure on that 460 probably needs more steel to keep the cylinder from getting new daylight openings in the side. Those XTP 460’s are going to make a mess of the clay block!!
I took my first whitetail with a 44 mag and factory level handloads of XTP 240 at around 50 yards. I think plenty for whitetail not from a rest. The Taurus 460 looks interesting, much better proportioned at least it looks so than S&W X frame. I shot a 500 S&W out of a Custom Shop gun with a big huge barrel and brake. Very hard to hold the front weight up with a revolver grip. Felt like it should be on a rest, like a tripod on a Jeep. Look forward to seeing more.
Should be a fun one! I would do a 6.5" barrel, because the 8" is soo long. I'd like to see the .460, because I'm going that way also. My current hunting pistol is a .45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk.
I love the snake “charm” of those break action single shot rifles. I am sorry to see the little Rossi go after such a short stay. I do understand you need to move old out to get new in though. Keep up the great work!

@@WHOTEEWHO Yeah that 460 is one heck of a Revolver Round. I have one of the big Smiths with the friggin long barrel, huge muzzle break and a Bipod. That is the one I use for messing around with shooting at crazy distances. I like the 460 and 454 a bit better than the 500 for some reason.
Sad you had to let go of that HK and Raging Magnum but not that Rossi. I’ll be looking forward to the video/s for that .460. As for the ammunition for it and not showing the box because the company blocked you on Instagram, was it a mistake maybe? If not, with you saying that ammo was loaded with XTP’s, those are Hornady bullets are they not? Hmmmmm lol I wish I had the cash for that Taurus Raging Magnum. Bummer!
Should give some of us an opportunity to buy some of them. I’m not that far away and would have got the HK😊. Didn’t the 460 and 500 come out about the same time? That will be a cool one. I’m almost at a dead stop on my 89 K5 GMC Jimmy. Kinda at that spot where you either go all out or keep it a driver. I did rhino line the floor and I’m going to put in new carpet. May redo the seats. That’s about it.
Well, for $3/shot, you might want a scope on that 460. You can shoot LC and Casull out of it somewhat cheaper, but if you shoot a lot of those shorter cases, be sure and clean your cylinder frequently to avoid a ring forming in each chamber, which could cause the 460s to stick, or even not chamber at all - similar can happen when shooting a lot of 22shorts in a 22lr or 38spl/44spl in 357mag/44mag. I think you should take each one out for a hunt.
I have a 500 mag from S&W and it is a great caliber. I don't see why the 460 would be any different. As for hunting, if you have shots over 100 the 460 may make those shots a little easier due to the veloicity.
If they’re pretty accurate and reliable , I wouldn’t get rid of them . I still have my marlin 795 , bought it back in the days for maybe $100-150 , forgot the actual price since it’s a long time ago , but this thing is not ammo picky and group great at 35 yards (small game hunting ) and I wouldn’t shoot pass 50 yards so it’s still in my room

@ I’ve never shot 500. I would imagine with factory ammo, the 500 would have more recoil just from the fact that the projectile weights are higher.
