Absolutely gutted here Mark, we didn’t even show up today. Lineout was just shocking. Got outclassed by a championship team, which hurts even more because it’s the crusaders. Deflating experience in the ground tonight
Cheers Mark. Appreciate you doing a game wrap from the stadium when you’re gutted after your team came up short in such a huge match. I dunno how the Crusaders keep doing it, but they once again stand up when it counts.
Watching as a Brumbies fan - Glad tthat the Brums didn't have to go to Christchurch as the result would have really shown up the difference between the best of Oz and the best of NZ. The Crusaders played, possibly, the most complete game from any provincial team I have ever watched. From dominating the lineouts and scrums to only one poor kick in a game dominated by strategy the Crusaders were awesome across the paddock. That said the defense of the Blues was just outstanding holding structures under immense pressure. There are many, many national teams that would not have contained the 'Saders tonight and no international provincial sides. PS Mark - Have really enjoyed your contribution and commentary on SR Pasifika and look forward to the Internationals.
To be honest, it felt like the Crusaders applied what the Brumbies did in the second half against the Blues in the semi. A coach worth their salt would have been taking notes because it really felt like de ja vu from 7 days prior. The Blues backline just never really got a platform for the attack, and were kept pinned down in their own half and couldn't cope with the pressure put on them by the Crusaders. It was frustrating to watch as a Blues supporter, but they lost in a way where there was no doubt that they were never going to win.
Every week the All Blacks prop selections are made to look even worse, Karl and Ofa were demolished by Tamati and Newell. Insane that they dropped DeGroot for Karl, they need to clear out these old journeymen and get younger and better props into the AB’s asap, but they won’t.
They will when they get Razor as their coach if he doesn’t get the nod after the next WC we will lose him overseas. I can emphatically say right now that we will not win the WC next year because with Foster it’s the same old same old. That thing with Barrett and Mo’unga was their undoing at the last WC and will be the same next year. Sadly Barrett was out-classed but that’s what happens when you’re not behind a great forward pack. Plus the Crusaders defense was exceptional the Blues were lucky to get the try they did. Now let’s transform all this brilliance to test rugby and beat the crap out of the Irish the Aussies the Argies and the Saffas. Goooooo the All Blacks!!

Commiserations brother, It was a Streak vs Streak kind of a deal. The Blues with 15 straight wins this seasons vs the Crusaders with 5 straight Grand Final wins. And it showed that the fact that they have been there so many times before that they know how to win when it counts. The Blues will be back they have a great side but maybe the occasion got to them they will be better after this experience. Six straight for the Crusaders well done boys. I know people get tired of us winning all of the time, oh well you all get another chance next year to shut us up lol. But I do feel for you bro, keep up the good work you are the man.
Still admire your effort to record this from the stadium itself even though you're sulking from the loss. Looking forward to next season and hopefully RA comprises instead of putting up that ultimatum.
Really gonna be interesting to see who will be selected to face Ireland first up after that game. A lot of players in key positions went head to head with each other tonight and there were some clear winners. I think confidence (or lack of it) went a long way in this game, and i'm not sure i'd pick those who lack it in my starting 15. Mo'unga, Havili, Goodhue, Bower, Jordan all got the better of their AB counterparts, but with the exception of Jordan and maybe Bower, wouldn't have been first picks before this game. That's changed now for me, I wonder if it matters as much to Foster.
Tried to look for you during the game, really sorry it didn’t go the Blue’s way, Crusaders pack and experience came through, one better next season hopefully for you
Good honest review mate. It’s reasonable to be disappointed but the progress the blues have made is unbelievable and should be nothing but celebrated. The crusaders put on a master class, as they are known to do during finals footy. It was a great win for AB rugby too, as it was obvious the media have been building an AB’s team largely from the blues and this game proves a lot of these guys are not test rugby ready yet.
Thanks for your honest appraisal from the Venue. Shame they can't give you better seats being a promoter of the sport and game. You must wear you Make the Blues Great Again Cap for better luck. Our suffering goes on, but admiration for the Crusaders continues.
Absolutely stoked as a Crusaders fan seeing them getting the W in front of a sellout at Eden Park. I guess we could say the Blues saved their worst for last but thats what pressure does to players. The Blues were the better team all season but just didn't turn up when it mattered most. Crusaders were just too good tonight and we have to remember 7 of the Crusaders starting 15 have been playing in a final since 2017, they know what it takes to win these big games. As tough as it is to take for the Blues, i think it'll set them up to come back stronger next year. But for now, the dynasty continues and the next one will be sweeter.😊Crusadeon!!
Was feeling frustrated for you Mark! I think Blues will be even better for it next year but they were just missing the class of the crusaders! I’m sad the season is over. Internationals can’t come soon enough 😊
That lineout was crazy! Was it 5 or 6 stolen? Cleanly, too. And at least one scrum I remember. #10 had his best game of the season. You getting up at 5:30 to watch with your Stormers fan?
I have said it before, but worth repeating after this display I think. The talking heads and to a certain extent the selectors have been keen to get more players from the North Island franchises into the ABs at the expense of Crusaders. Having seen the Crusaders performance last night there were a few performances that it is hard to see how they can be overlooked. But then again maybe it is not the personnel on the pitch, but those in the coaches box that need to be changed.
This is not a jab at Will Jordan but I've never ever seen him fend when running with the ball. Just something I've noticed. His support play is second to none but this year I think teams will be more focussed on him. only time will tell I guess..
congrats two cent in being humble in defeat, saders showed up tonight in a game i wasnt sure about.. red and black showed final footy mojo but blues can be proud of a good season ... Foster has a lot of BS pre-emptive calls to address...............
reminded me of '19 RWC semi where Eng dominated AB's ... Crusaders outclassed physically ... like that drop goal in Mo'unga's arsenal ... Whitelock, Christie and Havili had huge matches ...
The Crusaders were far better in the tight five. That troubles me because the Blues' experienced AB props were so poor. They need to sort it if they are to play Ireland. The Blues' lineout was also very poor. Whitelock and co had their number. Given the rain the skill shown was high. If the Blues tight five had won the ball they should have, the Blues' would have done better. I think the Blues' loosies played their hearts out. The backs were largely starved of any ball. I know the Crusaders are a great team and deserved to win the final.
Never thought I'd say this but Scott Robinson should be All Blacks coach. His game plan was genius. The whole world would fear the ABs more if he was coach.
I am gutted for you brother; I just didn't want this game to pan out as it did but l always feared it would end up like this! FFS the Irish Blue shirted side relinquished their crown up North finally and I really hoped your Blue team down south would have ended the Red shirted teams dominance down there! But we need Gazzas thoughts asap!!!
As an Argentinian Blues fan it was bitter sweet for me ... the Blues lost ;( ....but I also cheer for my countryman in foreign teams so good for Matera I guess
Congrats Crusaders, too good, theres a lesson here for the Blues, they know better than anyone else what that is, the saders were a yard ahead in every phase of the game, every bounce of the ball favored the visitors, the skill levels and commitment to ruck and maul a cut above the Blues, they wanted to win and played like it, I could shout out those Blues players that did their best to stem the tide but it'd probably be a bit unfair to the team as a whole, having been outplayed so comprehensively, it is hoped that the loss will go a long way to making them a better team in future.
Rough night for the All Blacks selectors, 3 of the Blues All Black props got completely out classed the the Crusaders props. Especially the young reserves. Imagine what the Irish props will do to them
That was a cracker of a match. I'd be gutted if I were a Blues fan. On the basis of the last few matches I thought the Crusaders would probably sneak it, but I didn't expect that winning margin. They utterly outplayed the Blues today. The conditions looked awful; it looked like they were on an ice rink at times. But definitely my favourite game of rugby this year, after last months' Edinburgh v Glasgow match at Murrayfield. Can't wait for next season.
Alan Shields Hamilton South Lanarkshire Scotland. Feel sorry for you Two Cents Rugby that's a biter pile to swallow. Especially in the first half it was like an army of Hulks against little boys lost in the woods there was so much one day traffic. As you say your Blues show slight signs of life but that's all they ever showed in this final. Honestly as a final it was very disappointing to see the game be so one sided it's not a good look for Super Rugby from a European point of view. I feel Super Rugby as a Tournament has a lot of issues going forward especially with talk of The Australian Rugby Union thinking about going it alone after next season according to an Rugby Pass article. I think the inclusion of Manua Pasifika & Fajian Drua is a positive step for Super Rugby but at this time for Super Rugby there is more negatives than positives in my view hopefully next season we see The Aussie teams being more competitive out with The Brumbies also a strong Chiefs & Hurricanes would be a massive positive. Watching The Premiership final now. Not long after watching The Currie Cup Semi Final between Cheetahs & Pumas it was a last gasp win for The Pumas when it looked nailed on for a Cheetahs win for a long time in the second half. Griquas VS Pumas in The Currie Cup Final. Later on for me it's Bulls VS Stormers followed buy Montpellier VS Bordeaux I fancy a Bordeaux win I sead Bordeaux would win The Top 14 after a few games at the start of the season. I watched Bulls lose to Griquas In the other Currie Cup game yesterday & also Castres send my Toulouse crashing out of The Top 14 Playoffs last night 😕. I will always be a massive Toulouse fan win or lose. Keep Safe.
Though I'm obviously delighted with the Crusaders win, I'm pretty disappointed with what the Blues have shown in the finals. They are a much better team than this, and they know that. They will be bitterly disappointed with themselves. Christie, and Sotutu get a passing grade from me, the rest of the squad was more or less under the par. I'm especially disappointed in the Blues' midfield, they amounted pretty much to nothing. Kurt Eklund unfortunately played himself out of any potential All Black consideration with his performance at the lineout today. The Blues defended extremely well in the first quarter, they created nothing themselves, but they looked like an absolute castle wall. But the Crusaders just kept chipping away at them, and they simply capitalized on the few opportunities they got. It's weird to say it, but the Blues simply didn't look hungry enough. A wholesome performance by the Crusaders, and a deserved title. One last thing I want to touch on is Ben O'Keefe, and his officiation of head contact. That was an absolutely rogue performance what he did out there today, and I think he should not be an international referee. Two egregious cases: #1: Laulala's shoulder to Bower's head should have been a penalty at least, the head contact protocol doesn't even allow for the outcome that he did, and his claim that Laulala attempted to wrap was utterly counter-factual. #2: Goodhue should have gotten a yellow card for his head-to-head contact with RTS, and I'm a Crusaders' fan. The fact that he did not even penalize it is beyond belief. In both cases O'Keefe used arguments, that don't even exist in the head contact protocol. He simply creates his own laws. Unbelievable. And the fact, that the kiwi commentators were drooling all over O'Keefe's blatant disregard of rugby laws and protocols,, thus undermining World Rugby's initiatives on player's safety, is equally egregious. Let's not forget, that Ben O'Keefe has a history of cavalier head contact treatment. He presided over the infamous Wales-Australia autumn test match in which Kerevi deliberately concussed Leigh Halfpenny (1/2p hasn't been the same player since) and just seconds later Pocock deliberately kneed Gareth Anscombe in the head, when the latter was trapped defenseless at the bottom of a ruck. I don't want O'Keefe to officiate international matches, if he cannot submit his own old school ideas on how rugby should be refereed to the official protocol.
Hurricanes fan backing the Blues all the way, but this was a no contest. Lineout shambles meant the Blues backs could not function at all. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of it was that Pablo Matera actually won something!! Oh, and no injuries going into the Ireland series perhaps. I just loathe the Crusaders but that was just clinical so got to respect it!
Instead of having such a wasted emotion, maybe it is time to look inward and acknowledge why they are so successful, and just respect the team culture and systems that leads to that (not just this performance). And hope your team might actually try to emulate it one day. Honestly, how do the Hurricanes only have 1 title?? (someone else knocked the Crusaders out in that final series too, so they didn't have to play them). I mean, I can understand as along suffering Canes supporter you being jealous of their 13 titles (it is more than double anyone else afterall). But I'd personally be mad at your team, instead of the Crusaders. There is no good reason a team that can play as well as the Hurricanes can, have only 1 title out of 26 attempts! Hell Razor now has twice the amount of titles, as a coach, as the Blues franchise in its history, let alone the Hurricanes! And he has them as a player too in addition to that... Success breeds confidence, that leads to more success - which is what the other franchises are lacking most. You can't blame the Crusaders for that, your teams just need to get on their level - like the NH teams have of late against the All Blacks.
All the media hype (spin) behind the recent blues run of form couldn't mask what most honest rugby fans already knew. The Blues were not and are not in the same League as the Crusaders. Since their Trans-Tasman final win (claymans title: avoided Crusaders) last year the media were trumping them up as the team to beat this year. Add to that their 15 wins on the trott including a rare win over the Saders in Christchurch and all of a sudden people were sure that this was going to be the Blues year. In reality they were, and still are, miles off the pace. The scary thing for all the other teams is that this Crusaders team is just as young and as hungry as ever to protect their legacy. They have moved past just playing to win finals. They're playing for legacy and dynasty now. That's a scary thing. They've created such a dominant empire (rivaled only by other super clubs/teams such as the Lakers, United, Patriots, ABs, Real, Rabbits) that the fear of losing a title is just as motivating as adding another one. That's the same cycle the ABs find themselves in year after year. The Red jersey has now taken on a new level of mysticsm, almost like a holy-artifact, and with each passing year the romanticism and awe around the Crusaders empire just gets stronger and stronger. Retired legends are cherished in the same way the church worships the dead Saints, Apostles and Prophets (Blackadder, Thorne, Mehrtens, Marshall, Carter, McCaw, Read). The legacy is now set up for a perpetual empire.
Congratulations to the crusaders what a can of whoop ass . . Just want to touch on beauden Barrett and Richie ID like to see what would happen if Richie was in Beauden position that night the players around Richie make him look good don't get me wrong Richie is a master yeah just wondering what it would look like.. Sam and Scott destroyed the forwards I hope Mr Forster had his eyes wide open and the selectors
Watched the game Boet. Blues were out played. To me the big difference was the Crusaders were using a rush defense. The Blues were standing off waiting for Crusaders to come at them.
Man I'm still salty 🤣 such a crappy way to wake up.. We were owned from beginning to end.. Lots to learn from this loss.. We'll host that trophy 🏆 again in the near future cause our blues are on the up and up!
Not the same, as the Blues actually got completely dominated in the stats as well. They were only in the Crusaders 22 for just over 1 minute versus over 8 for the Crusaders.
Sorry Mark, maybe next year but the Crusaders were dominant. The line out was a disaster and allowed Crusaders to relieve pressure at vital moments. Never really saw any sustained Blues pressure as too many errors. At the end of the day you just have to admire the Crusaders team and their management .
One word - Whitelock! he was everywhere! Stealing, disrupting, setting up quality rucks! And Scott didn't do badly either! Blues got nothing and when they got a sniff they blundered it or it was blundered on them! All their set piece crumbled! AB's better take a wee gander!
This game Showed Perofeta is not ready for the All Blacks, put it this way will Jordan was a standout player in his rookie year but had to wait an extra year, Perofeta had a strong year but under Hanson there is no way he’s making the squad

Hard lines man, tough to take a Final loss but a good season tbf so onwards and upwards for next year :)
Tough night! But that wad really a very good performance by the Crusaders.
But you'll bounce back..
Have a great weekend!
Internationals can’t come soon enough 😊
mad respect to the blues and blues fans not your guys night but def should be proud of your overall performance this season
Watched from Cape Town.. great game, Crusaders very impressive 👌🏽👌🏽
No surprise unfortunately. Hopefully the Blues learnt something for next year. Go Bulls 🇿🇦🏉
i see you sneaking the big screen in there. smart stuff.
But then again maybe it is not the personnel on the pitch, but those in the coaches box that need to be changed.
now this is great content 🙂
This is not a jab at Will Jordan but I've never ever seen him fend when running with the ball. Just something I've noticed. His support play is second to none but this year I think teams will be more focussed on him. only time will tell I guess..
He needs to watch corey jane he had a good fend
We got pumped man credit to the Crusaders, too good
congrats two cent in being humble in defeat, saders showed up tonight in a game i wasnt sure about.. red and black showed final footy mojo but blues can be proud of a good season ... Foster has a lot of BS pre-emptive calls to address...............
was not expecting you to be there lol
Scoreline was flattering...it was a hiding
reminded me of '19 RWC semi where Eng dominated AB's ... Crusaders outclassed physically ... like that drop goal in Mo'unga's arsenal ... Whitelock, Christie and Havili had huge matches ...
Agree. I was at that RWC game 😣
Sweet bro!
@Crusader #Raider Fair enough comments. I'd be happy for the Crusaders coaching team for the ABs too.
First half was all Crusaders. Good fightback by the Blues, but the better team won. Great to see a full stadium in Super Rugby.
Call that a fight back??
It slowed in the second half, but they got schooled from start to finish, there is no way to sugar coat it!
Crusaders!! 🖤❤️🖤❤️
Never thought I'd say this but Scott Robinson should be All Blacks coach. His game plan was genius. The whole world would fear the ABs more if he was coach.
I am gutted for you brother; I just didn't want this game to pan out as it did but l always feared it would end up like this! FFS the Irish Blue shirted side relinquished their crown
up North finally and I really hoped your Blue team down south would have ended the Red shirted teams dominance down there! But we need Gazzas thoughts asap!!!
South Island yay!
Andy will be happy, in Auckland City, at least.
🙂
Gutted for you Mate! Nowt for it but a few Long Dongs!
Awesome job crusaders
Rough night for the All Blacks selectors,
3 of the Blues All Black props got completely out classed the the Crusaders props. Especially the young reserves.
Imagine what the Irish props will do to them
Look at the crusaders who did well.. Bower, Havili, Goodhue. The selectors also vindicated a lot of their selections
I was rooting for the Blues just for Mark. Anyway congrats to all the Crusaders fans.
congrats to the Crusaders .......hard luck Blues.......
Why isn't Cullen and Tom Christie in the AB squad
Too soft
Probably Scott Robertson is the best coach in the world currently🧐.
Got beat up today by a know how team Blues need to start better need more belief but congrats to Scot Robertson give him the AB job now

Feel sorry for you Two Cents Rugby that's a biter pile to swallow.
Especially in the first half it
was like an army of Hulks against little boys lost in the woods there was so much one day traffic.
As you say your Blues show slight signs of life but that's all they ever showed in this final.
Honestly as a final it was very disappointing to see the game be so one sided it's not a good look for
Super Rugby from a European point of view.
I feel Super Rugby as a Tournament has a lot of issues going forward especially with talk of
The Australian Rugby Union thinking about going it alone after next season according to an Rugby Pass article.
I think the inclusion of
Manua Pasifika & Fajian Drua is a positive step for Super Rugby but at this time for Super Rugby there is more negatives than positives in my view hopefully next season we see
The Aussie teams being more competitive out with The Brumbies
also a strong Chiefs & Hurricanes would be a massive positive.
Watching The Premiership final now.
Not long after watching
The Currie Cup Semi Final between
Cheetahs & Pumas it was a last gasp win for The Pumas when it looked nailed on for a Cheetahs win for a long time in the second half.
Griquas VS Pumas in
The Currie Cup Final.
Later on for me it's
Bulls VS Stormers followed buy
Montpellier VS Bordeaux I fancy a
Bordeaux win I sead Bordeaux would win The Top 14 after a few games at the start of the season.
I watched Bulls lose to Griquas
In the other Currie Cup game yesterday & also Castres
send my Toulouse crashing out of
The Top 14 Playoffs last night 😕.
I will always be a massive Toulouse fan win or lose.
Keep Safe.
"Culture"... It's all about having the right team culture! Something other teams don't seem to have it!
i completely forgot your final part of the season is in winter lol
Mark!! Was thinking about you, sorry mate! Next year!
Yeah man outclassed unfortunately!
@@TwoCentsRugby got a feeling the same things Is going to happen in the prem final later on, Sarries have that final experience
holy shit the lineout was infuriating
Ruthless
I feel for you
👍👍 GG lads
Hard luck to the Blues.
Odd thing first half of 1998 final which Crusaders won at Eden Park Blues didn't score a point in the first half either
Sorry the result didn’t go your way, but it’ll serve them well for next season and hopefully they’ll go one better.
Yeah man still a good season overall, hopefully the players learn from this let down
Haven’t had this feeling since our RWC 2019 loss 🥲
The legacy is now set up for a perpetual empire.
the Crusaders know how to play finals rugby ..just outclassed the Blues side
You foreshadowed this in your preview. I am sure you are gutted. The Crusaders just find a way to win when it matters.
Congratulations to the crusaders what a can of whoop ass . . Just want to touch on beauden Barrett and Richie
ID like to see what would happen if Richie was in
Beauden position that night the players around Richie make him look good don't get me wrong Richie is a master yeah just wondering what it would look like.. Sam and Scott destroyed the forwards I hope Mr Forster had his eyes wide open and the selectors
Watched the game Boet. Blues were out played. To me the big difference was the Crusaders were using a rush defense. The Blues were standing off waiting for Crusaders to come at them.
Tom Christie should be an all black for sure. That turnover was a huge moment shift
Aww I’m sorry Mark
Yeah well beaten I'm afraid!
Man I'm still salty 🤣 such a crappy way to wake up.. We were owned from beginning to end.. Lots to learn from this loss.. We'll host that trophy 🏆 again in the near future cause our blues are on the up and up!
Yeah yeah just like your aukland warriors 🙄 😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍🤣🤣🤣
A-gain!!!
Moanga, havili and goodhue dominated the midfield, just bossed blues around
Whitelock gave y’all no chance to win honestly he was so impressive coming back in that line out and in the breakdown
And South Africa team. Pls. Why u quit
Don’t have a clue what he’s talking about without the whiteboard
Crusader cruises in the Super Rugby Pacific but they are a different team once they are in the Finals.... Crusader can only be good...
commiserations mate, blues had a nightmare. sorry. fair play to the crusaders
That was like the chiefs playing semi final, they were leading in the stats but could not score.
Not the same, as the Blues actually got completely dominated in the stats as well. They were only in the Crusaders 22 for just over 1 minute versus over 8 for the Crusaders.
I hope you took the bottle bourbon for that game
That final minutes made me smile John kirwan was 😑
Sorry Mark, maybe next year but the Crusaders were dominant. The line out was a disaster and allowed Crusaders to relieve pressure at vital moments. Never really saw any sustained Blues pressure as too many errors. At the end of the day you just have to admire the Crusaders team and their management .
Could have been easily 40+ to nil
One word - Whitelock! he was everywhere! Stealing, disrupting, setting up quality rucks! And Scott didn't do badly either! Blues got nothing and when they got a sniff they blundered it or it was blundered on them! All their set piece crumbled! AB's better take a wee gander!
This game Showed Perofeta is not ready for the All Blacks, put it this way will Jordan was a standout player in his rookie year but had to wait an extra year, Perofeta had a strong year but under Hanson there is no way he’s making the squad
