    An interesting point about the Jackets is that they're still missing significant players to injury that they're expecting back before the end of the season. Monahan, Jenner, Chinakov and Gudbranson will all slot back into the lineup when they're healthy. Getting Boone back would almost be like getting a trade deadline acquisition since he hasn't played all season, and he is a monster at faceoffs. Not to mention how good Monahan is in the dot. Barring any other injuries or setbacks, if we keep playing the way we are and get all 4 of those players back this team could make a real playoff push

    • @crushdavis7048
      @crushdavis7048 10 дней назад

      Im curious what would be number 1 on their trade board to add at the deadline. They might be one of the few teams that isnt in desperate need of a center. Depending on how their goalies hold up, I think a bottom 6 defensive forward and maybe a goalie could really put this team over the top and get in.

      Gudbransn will probably come back before playoffs if CLb qualify - he gets a bit underrated. Plus, Brindly should be a very good prospect he gets forgotten about. Del Bel Bllz & Mateychk are too very good prospects too, both getting some icetime, but more likely next yr they will become regulars.
      Laban, Christiansn, JVR, & Fabbr have been good for them. Greave looks good in a goal, & Merzlikin has found some of his old good form. But it definately is Werensk, the young kids (Fantil, K.J, Sillingr, & now Del Bellz, and the Russians that have made the difference in close games more recently.

    Answering the title: I don't think so since before that we two sperate mini-losing streaks and went through 12 of the 16 western teams on the road, which some of it basically didn't capitalized. After that comment was a nice stretch of home games to start building the momentum. After the Sharks game, there is a 19 game stretch, which goes little past the TDL, in which only 5 games will be played in NWA and 1 at Ohio Stadium. That will dictate if we should be buyers or sellers based on the road record. If we are buyers at that time, we will get Jenner back from IR who will be another FO specialist and slot into the 3rd line.

    Probably the Laine comments were a motivating factor in what Columbus has done but let's not forget how the boys lost Johnny before the season ever started and once they found their skating legs, they made good things happen in his memory. Another factor that I think is not recognized enough is having Dean Evason as coach. He is not a coach who will be satisfied with slackers and he showed that in his previous tenure as Minnesota Wild coach. The Wild were usually in the playoffs when he was coach and so he will likely have been a motivating factor for the success they're enjoying this year.
    I hope they make it into the playoffs. They're my Eastern team (underdog) that I've rooted for (except when they play my Jets) so I wish them a berth in the playoffs this season.

Don is the incoming GM who has committed himself to improving the team and wants to build a winner in Columbus. Laine is the guy who asked to get traded and claimed no responsibility for the culture that developed in Columbus over his time there. It's easy to see how one of those people criticizing the organization would piss people off a lot more than the other.

    Hockey Dude: how much of this turn around is caused by a potential culture change by the new GM?

    I don't think it's going to matter, but imagine if Columbus wins the cup this year.

      If they manage that, it will be amazing and Gaudreau will be the first name put on the cup.

    IMO it's a few things, Zack leading with a hold my beer attitude, laine running his mouth and like a bunch of guys finding their groove, provy, fantilli, the Russians, elvis, and some time to learn the team Dean eveson, CBJ!!

    Laine’s comment definitely hurt Colombus because of gaudreau’s death. You know the jackets were gonna try hard to win for him and the comment probably hurt their feelings because of that. You go see some replays and Monahan is actively targeting laine even though monahan was a hab last season. The comment was true for the past seasons front office, but the comment is untrue for this season and that’s why they got so angry and “motivated”

  • @matthewholz7747
    @matthewholz7747 10 дней назад

    Hockey Dude, recommendation for you: if the jackets make the playoffs I recommend you respectfully introduce the possibility of Devine intervention. This might be the will and influence of the spirit of Johnny Hockey! It's a good narrative....all of a sudden they're playing this well, could be because of Johnny!

    If Laine's comment was what set all this off, then he was probably correct about the CBJ players when he played there. My money is on Columbus slumping and missing the playoffs.
    If Montreal faces Columbus again this season, I hope Laine keeps comments like that to himself. If Columbus takes another run at him, then Wifi will probably put an end to that 😊

      They didn't even hurt him, he got taken out of the game. Make stupid comments, win stupid prizes. Also, WiFi can get his ass manhandled by Vronk or Olivier.

    Right now I expect the Rangers and Senators to grab the two wildcards, with Columbus and Montreal hanging around. I expect Boston, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia to fall back a bit. Laine's comments have me hoping that Columbus finishes ahead of Montreal this season.

    • @gabrielrockman

      And so tonight Ottawa beats Boston, Detroit beats Montreal, and Carolina beats Columbus. Shows how much I know....
      At least the Rangers blew out Philly. But my preseason prediction of Rangers over Stars still doesn't look good.

    Columbus is like the NXT of WWE/NHL. Everybody will pretend that it's important and is a marketable hockey franchise, when really it comes across as a $2 New York. "YES COLUMBUS IS A BIG HOCKEY TEAM AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY FOR THIS TEAM " 🎉🎉🎉

    Love when u said finally fantilli, hes barely 20 yrs old lol. They have a good young core. Wouldnt doubt if they fall off at the end but well see. Evason surprisingly was the right coach for them this yr with everything thays happened. I liked dean in minney but he drive me nuts when he wouldnt mix up the lines, lnce in a while hed swap 2 guys for a shift or 2 that was it. It was infuriating.

      As a habs fan, I can say that confidence is very high right now. A lot of people where counting us out early and putting them in their place has been a pure bliss to see. I have to say however that I personally hope that Columbus make the playoffs for Johnny and even win the Cup for him. If Laine have to play the role of the villain for that then so be it.

      Montreal is playing with house money at this point , playoffs or not , the rebuild is going 100% in the right way , Montreal fans deserve to be happy plus you can't deny that 13-3-2 record the last 18 games , it's a big sample size

    • @cameronmccormick89
      @cameronmccormick89 10 дней назад +2

      @THEGDB even larger sample is 20-10-2 over their past 32 games. Even if they go something mediocre like 3-5-1 over their next 9 games, that's a half-season at 23-15-3, which is a 98 pt pace.

    Columbus has always been a bit snakebit. People forget at one time we had the 4th best point total in the league. It just happened to be a year where 2 of the 3 teams with a better record were
    in the same division.
