You have to keep the questions simple for these guys. They have just exited from a near death experience type of wave and are exhausted. You should ask them questions like "How was the surf conditions out there today? Did you get any nice rides? Did any of them scare you? Did you hit the bottom today? Do you like drinking cold beer? Do you like eating hot pizza?" No philosophical, no complex, no compound type questions. They just got out of an environment where living in the moment means surviving and thinking about philosophical questions means death.
