    I’ve been a rock hound all my life, moved to Southern California in 1991, became a gold hunter and prospector for a few years. Your videos are educational, adventurous, fun, etc. I’m a big fan and just subbed, I really enjoyed the past few posts and hope to catch all the future ones! Thanks for what you do!

    Putting Burro Creek on my list. I may have to put it in the top slot. I just love all the pieces you shared and am intrigued by the possibilities that area holds. Like mysteries waiting for their stories to be told. (Sorry for the accidental rhymes.)
    I can't thank you enough for the knowledge you impart and the fact that you explain in plain language without talking down to your audience. I don't know about anyone else, but I learn so much from your videos and hope someday I'll get to go out rockhounding with you. I'll have my notebook and pen ready!

      And thank you. That’s quite a compliment. I try to share what I know with people so that they can understand it. Because if you give somebody knowledge they can’t understand people get bored. And I want people to enjoy learning about it. So once again, thank you so much.

    What a great field trip for an awesome club. The legendary Burro Creek is on the top of my wish list of places to go to. I learned a thing or two from this video, Dan is a pilot, what? I like the way you tell geology stories, and that was so neat to meet a fan so randomly. Great video and good job leading the field trip. Got to love purple.

    I fogot to mention one time I was on the side of a huge mine dump clinging on for dear life somewhere down south not too far from Nogales and I whacked the side with a hammer and it just spilt softball size chunks of chrysocalla down the hill. The sun was bright and the pieces were super sparkly. I loaded all I could. Although beautiful, it was more specimen grade stuff it was either to soft to cut or was just on the outside. All in all it was the closest thing to a dream in real life I ever experience. I dragged my wife along on that trip. She likes rocks too but was questioning my sanity for taking us to literally the middle of nowhere. On our trip we ran into a guy that grates the roads and he directed us to this spot. The scenery was a lot different than this video. It was in AZ but there were cows, grass, some trees and we finally got to see lenticular clouds.

    So pastelite is different than quartzite? I thought pastelite is just a pastel version of jasper. It’s crazy how much variety is in this stuff.

    Living vicariously through this channel from frozen Kansas. I need to move lol. I love the AZ desert. I was amazed with the scenery way down south but I dont know if the area is safe now? I do have a really old mag with locations to a pink celestite location in my area in which some pieces are in the Smithsonian. Looking at googleearth it appears the place is pretty remote. Im having one of those rockhound dreams that the place is forgotten and hasn't been explored in awhile. Bad time of year but I can go try to get permission to get on the property. I also found out I might be able to find geodes at local quarry. Right now it's ice and frozen pipes. I have several pieces of equipment im getting setup this winter. I actually use to build really nice saws years ago but they were too much work for the money. Right now im getting ready to try out a 20" Mohave saw that I went on a roadtrip to go get. I have no shortage of rocks lol.

    Hi again Elley,. Idk how the heck u keep those nails while doing all that stuff you do. My I can't keep nails like that doing my mine. My nails are like always down to nubs. Don't even need nail clippers as the rock in the mine takes care of that. Lol

    • @ElleyKnowsRocks
      @ElleyKnowsRocks  8 месяцев назад

      lol that’s hilarious. I’m speaking of trying to keep nails decent. This is completely off-topic and not even rock related, but I managed to send my fingernail through a cheese grater while grading a lemon rind. Tore it up. And I constantly have to replace nail polish if I put nail polish on because it gets ruined about two days later. Lol but thank you for noticing. I really appreciate it

      @@ElleyKnowsRocks it's all good. Yeh ik I went like wayyy off topic tho. I just got a bit curious. Hehe
      Im not really into the Rockhound thing unless it's gold or silver but ofc those are not rocks, but metals. I'm more of a mine fanatic. More like a mine lunatic. Lmao but anyways I was down in that area years ago looking for some crystal area there around the burro creek area. But I think these was the white quartz crystal type stuff. Needless to say I spent two days trying to find the area that was in a rockhounding book I had of where to find certain rocks... Well I never did find it so F it... I ended up just gold panning in burro creek.
      Are yah ever at the gem show that they have every so often at the Mohave Co fairgrounds here in Kingman?

    Elley doesn’t know the difference between “pastelite”, a trade name, and petalite, an actual mineral.

    • @scottprather5645
      @scottprather5645 8 месяцев назад

      Pastelite is in fact the correct mineral name Not a good idea to correct people when you don't know the facts.

    • @canadiangemstones7636
      @canadiangemstones7636 8 месяцев назад

      @@scottprather5645- “pastelite” is not an actual mineral. It is a trade name for a type of jasper, which is also not a mineral, but a rock. The title of the vid says petalite, which is an actual mineral. Don’t take my word for it, consult Fleischer’s Glossary of Mineral Species, or mindat.
