These were the golden years of gaming, when you didn't have stupid pop-ups telling you what to do, what buttons to press, where to go and signing into every social media outlet known to man. These game actually provided a challenge unlike today's brain dead games with 10% user interaction and 90% CG.
CG? lol computer graphics? dude all video games are 100% CG. If you mean that modern games have a stronger emphasis on graphics and less on gameplay, then I would agree with you (with the exception of indie games)
Man this takes me way back to my childhood! I actually got the Sega Genesis exactly 20 years ago last month, and this is the game that came with it. I would spend hours playing this game- with the graphics, the characters, and the story being all great. But the music, was what really made this game stand out. The music always pumped me up, whenever I would play through as Axel or Skate/Sammy. I loved how the game would go into slow motion, whenever a boss gets killed. Axel: BARE KNUCKLE!!!
Not nostalgia, but obvious facts of what's different from games during the golden age and games now. I don't need a game telling me which direction to go and which buttons to press and CG cutscenes every other minute. Nor do I need a game that nags me to rate it and share it with friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Not to mention devs chopping up full games and releasing it in x amount of "expansions" or DLC. Facts are facts.
@@SenatorArmstrong2018 boomer? I doubt it. Doubt he's gen x either. Probably an old millennial like me. I was born in 81 and still made the cut off point. I'm yet to know a boomer that actually played on a computer console. Whether that be the 80s or today.
1 of my all time fav games....it kicks so much ass, thanx 4 the upload :) cant wait for u guys 2 play the 3rd one, also i hope u guys eventually play the double dragon series 1-3
not big into fighting games but it passed the time and kept me entertained. I liked seeing characters going up in flames by somebody who could turn up the heat like KEN or RYU or some other characters I am just getting to know from other fighting fames like power instinct 2.
Haha Probably for the same reason, that Max screams "OH-REEE-AAAHHH" or "Hot Dog! Hot Dog!" And Skate/Sammy screams "Oh-Ki-Ki"... Whatever the reason, I still find it hilarious.
I actually like how they broke the stereotype like, in any other game, Blaze would be the one kidnapped cuz "beat bad guys, save girl" trope, but they actually had Adam be kidnapped, the buff strong man, that's kinda funny xd
Yea over time I got pretty good, after playing them frequently. I was better on home systems, than on the arcade machines- mainly because I was too short at the time to actually reach well. I also liked beat-em up games, two of my favorites as a kid were Taito's Superman (1988) and Konami's X-Men (1992). By the way Super Street Fighter 2 is my favorite of "Street Fighter" games. I would spend hours on SNES playing versus mode in that game, with friends. How about you?
Yea this game had many influences of other stuff. For instance at 15:59 look at the Blanka-like character. Then at 16:35 Axel is kicking ass through Disney World (look at the castle in the back). And then look at the Ultimate Warrior at 22:20. I can only guess that some aspects of Axel, were probably in part modeled after Axl Rose (like the name although different in spelling, and the blue bandanna). Then theres the "Punk" villains. Many aspects of 80's/early 90's pop culture, were in this game.
Japan loved Western music, culture and media at the time... kind of how some of us Americans and Canadians seem to gravitate towards the same things from Japan since the 1990s
Haha no it was a joke. I said that I used the character of "Smoke" (the gray ninja), from Mortal Kombat- because you asked me if I smoked. But the truth is that I have never smoked anything.
One of the best 16 bit soundtracks ever!
I like the advetures of batman and robin jesper kyd sounds tracks too
this probably the best there ever was 16 bit
The 90's had the best games period.
True that

Wtf are you guys talking about? Get out of your dens and play a few good games please.
I was a SNES kid growing up, but I still prefer Streets of Rage over Final Fight.

Axel: BARE KNUCKLE!!!
Another legendary game
One of best fighting games ever.
I love the names of your opponents, so damn creative.
One of the best games for Mega Drive! I played it about 100 times to end with a friend.

Because...games today are generated for a lower audience? Seriously you boomers need to stop acting like the past was so great and face reality.

Excellent

I think it's supposed to be "cockscrew kick", though what I hear is "monkey kick"
I've always wondered why some of the enemies scream "YOU EARL!" when they die...
90's were the peak of 2d games
Badass Game
I feel like Balloon is a big karnov reference ahead of it's time.
I tested this game and believe me it is too cool.
Definately my favorite SoR (Before SoRR, of course)
I'm not sure if I understand, u did smoke in mortal kombat?
I actually like how they broke the stereotype

Is it just me or did Mr.x smoked a cigarr? The street of rage 2 Eu/us i didnt noticed that in the Eu version.
i am sure that THAT is not the real Big-Ben.

F7: Polterpup Floor - 7 Chase! Catch All The Polterpups! The Power Of a Poltergust x2 or x3 Makes Capturing Ghosts a Breeze!
F2: Polterpup Floor - 2 Chase! Catch All The Polterpups! The Power Of a Poltergust x2 or x3 Makes Capturing Ghosts a Breeze!
Why is it called Bare Knuckle is everybody's wearing gloves?
Only dif between this and sor2 is that skate is called sammy?
Jap version is more accelerated
Shame the US and Europe version of this game cuts Mr X smoking a cigar Out.
Japanese version has slightly remixed soundtrack.
This is the best Part for me.
Stupid sega stop this series and went to freaking 3d.
I miss my 16-bit Sega mega drive
