Right behind Johnny: posters of The Clash and U2. Someone at WKRP production had their ears to the ground. Or knew where the cool record stores were to get posters.
In one episode Carlson and Bailey were recording a commercial in their back studio and a poster for Ultravox's album Vienna is in the background. This was a popular new wave album in the U.K. but didn't even chart in the U.S.
at the time this was on the air any department store that sold records in their electronics/stereo department sold posters of rock stars..which covered any teenagers bedroom walls...of course along with velvet black light posters...
Likely the record companies supplied the posters. They knew the show's audience largely listened to modern rock and R&B, and their artists would get free publicity that way.
I felt for Venus in this one. You can tell he was having PTSD induced flashbacks when he had the gun pointed at Travis. And if you pay attention, you see him sitting in the background after as Johnny is trying to console him. That was actually a good touch for them to include that for anyone that was actually paying attention to that scene.
Haha....This was one funny t.v series. Les, "someone must`ve jimmied the lock." Johnny Fever, "Jimmied it. I think they took the whole door. " Lol! Les and his imaginary door. Thanks for the upload, Keith.
Wow. Les was only 40 when this episode was filmed. He looks like an old man. People today who are 40 look like they're fresh out of college. Back then they practically looked elderly.... I was a little kid then, and I can remember people in their late 30s and 40s back then looking very old. It was a Better time back then though. People weren't overweight then like they are today even if they looked older. People were friendlier, more proper, more sociable back then than they are today. Nowadays people are so obsessed with the internet and their cell phones, people are more cruel today also.....

Episode worthy of serious contemplation. Robbery. Theft. Fear. Feelings of being defenseless. Composure. Anger. Revenge...then there's the gun. Question. Does it solve the problem...or amplify it? My own humble resolve is that one will never truly know until one is placed in a similar situation.
Elder Rondy Fleming, of course, owning a firearm already puts you in a situation. A fireman in your home increases the chance of death or serious injury by the home's occupants many fold.
Jen is so pretty. I wish women did their hair like they used to back then. I didn’t exist then but damn they were GORGEOUS. I mean women now are pretty to. But too much botox. Not all women have it but lots of them look totally artificial. PS just so that I don’t offend anyone I am a woman. Sorry about that stupid heads up. I just don’t wanna be accused as a sexist.
I agree. I was thinking that Loni Anderson sort of faded away after her divorce from Burt Reynolds. I think she remarried, and I hope she aged gracefully. Without all the surgery, fillers, and poison shots. I wish her well wherever she is.
Everyone should carry a gun at all times. That way everyone will be safe. Or dead! This scene with the gun would be exactly what life would be like if everyone had a gun.
My goodness! Take a safety class, get your license, take the gun with you and go about your business. That is exactly what I did when I got a small game hunting license, (to use a shotgun), when I turned 12 years old. Grow up!
While I enjoy the show now due to nostalgia, I didn't like it when it first aired. I tried to like it but I just couldn't. I found the humor to be bland and unoriginal. Sorry I am not one of those "They don't make TV shows like this anymore!" kind of posters. :p I grew up in the seventies. I just never cared for this show.
😮that lady is Loni Anderson. I think in this episode it's a wig. In others she wears her own hair. I do notice the wig has no natural movement, it's close to her regular hairstyle, but not quite. But a lot of actresses use wigs, because the hot lights are so hard on your natural hair, you'd be surprised. She always had that very processed hair look tho, her natural color was quite dark.
Ahhhh, back in the days when all of us young'uns were entranced by the hair of Juice Newton, the eye-make up of Chrissie Hynde and the back-up singers of Prince and Rick James!
There was a short-lived revial in 1991. The first season was weak. It didn't pick up steam until Howard Hessman revived his role as Dr. Fever, after he left Head Of The Class, but by that time, it was too late. Herb, Les, and The Big Guy were the only original characters to return until Johnny came back. As for a reboot, AM radio is dead, except for News and Sports, and ethnic broadcasters.
ALWAYS awesome Band Posters on this Show !!!!
🤘🤘
Venus was always my favorite character in this show. I consider him the best one.
Ahhhhhhh, Bailey ! ---------------Best reason I could ever think of to watch this classic 70's show! ----------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o

Loved this show! Hysterical!
Loved this show as a child. Watching in 2019.
Stephanie In the wild same here I was kid watching the reruns on CBC or was it CTV 🤔

They sure don't make tv like this anymore. I miss those old days.
They still show them on TV. Go to MeTV. They got The Andy Griffith show, Gomer Pyle, Carol Burnett show. Thay got all that good stuff.
Antenna TV is another great retro channel
These were the best sitcoms, 70s to 80s.
"The least you can do is try to act normal!" LOL
Actually, having the sound muted to please the copyright overlords adds to the suspense of the scene.
Haven’t watched this show since the mid 80’s & I cant believe how much it stands up. So much fun to rediscover it!
You're so right! A great show!
Thanks Again, Keith Lambert!! What a great show!!
This is true social commentary & description of life!
Should be on SKY tv
The Silver Sow alone is invaluable! The fools!!! Lol
Ohhhh " You just won yourself a radio pal..." Click.. Oh my Lord... In 50 something and fondly remember this show, but oh ohh oh.. That was FUNNY!
Howard Hesseman is a national treasure! RIP 🙏
I saw Lena Horne live on Broadway when I was a teenager! Amazing voice

Those kewl kids grew up and raised shitheads.
I met the actor who played Les in the late seventies. He was young looking, tall, and really friendly.
20:59 Les diving for the floor when Andy comes out of the office. 😅😅😅

Thank You Keith Lambert : )
This show inspired me to get into radio. So I did. And let me share, it is all true, and then some...
One of my moms favorites.thanks.
That dude in the checkered suit is 50% Bill Murray and 50% Huey Lewis.
Also Ron Swanson.
You mean Herb?
You must be new to the table?
I Love this show, but not without the music!!! Boo, hiss!!!

At 23:10 watch how Venus handles that revolver. He was very comfortable with it.
Maybe because he's a Vietnam veteran and has handled firearms.
I could be wrong.
The gun ownership debate rears it's head, nearly 40 years ago!
If you watch the door it never really closes so the alarm would go off if the wind pushes it
From what we can dee, there were only 2 thieves. How could only 2 people haul all that stuff out?
Pro thieves.

NEWSFLASH.........Until about 1920, pretty much everyone carried a firearm daily.........Crime was very limited by today's standards
donald k garman, news flash, no they didn’t. You’ve watched too many westerns.
@@inkyguy judging merely by amount sold, a much higher percentage of people did. your point?

I'm on WKRP in Cincinnati.
1 question, How are you gona leave out the door to go home, if you gota turn on the alarm from the inside ?
What's up with the outro tunes lyrics'?❓
How do you mean?
Need 2 make a new show in Cincinnati

Would be even better without the laugh track
I like it. It gives it that good old fashioned quality to it.
They had a live audience and Hugh Wilson would often warm up the crowd.

Some of the humor from that time doesn't work today, because societies (people) change.

As for a reboot, AM radio is dead, except for News and Sports, and ethnic broadcasters.
There are no deejays anymore. Music is pre-programmed and automated. On air personalities are mostly comedians and talk radio hosts.
Nah, they'd eff it up and make it conform to today's "woke" politics standard. Which is the reason I don't watch TV.
Oooh Loni you were a big help during my puberty
what was that first song played ?
Ottis Redding Love Man
'Rock me baby' by Otis Redding.
