I totally relate to sometimes wanting (or wanting to want) to live how i see others do, with their fast, eventful, loud lives full of big groups of friends etc. but i've realized that dwelling on that just makes me feel miserable for no good reason. I know my own heart and my own idea of a good, peaceful, life, so i shouldn't begrudge myself for choosing my comfort. It's okay to try new things every so often, but i tell myself it's okay if i simply don't want to constantly be moving or aspiring for something different.
Honestly, watching content like yours has helped me ground myself a lot during times of self-doubt, and i've learned to unapologetically be more accepting towards MY idea of a good life - cozy, quiet, enriching - spent pursuing my interests. 🌷

If you want to read more fun regency romances, i recently read "the benevolent society of ill-mannered ladies" by alison goodman---so good! highly recommend. ✂

About Evangeline's survival instinct, if we can call it that, just wait until the second book: it does NOT get better 😂(but I can't lie, there's something that just keeps me reading..)

The overall world is pretty great. Very fairytale-esque. The balls, gowns, The Hollow, the forests, random curses, tale of foxes and hunters, the dragons etc.. I actually appreciate Stephanie Garber writing Evangeline to be the way she is. In a lot of fantasy romances, the main girl is always cunning, smart, sassy, snarky, has plans, and knows how to wield a dagger, sword, bow and arrow...whatever. Evangeline is none of that and it was honestly a breath of fresh air to see somebody so stupid (i love her) with no solid plans. She goes with the flow and gets pushed around by the plot sometimes and I don't mind at all. And of course if Jacks was just the typical bad boy....a lot of us would have stopped reading by now. Including me. His backstory and overall tragicness is fun. So all those things keep us reading I think. I can't wait to pick up A Curse for True Love!

@katgreer6113 I must say I actually don't read a lot of fantasy, so I couldn't compare the series to a lot of other books 😅. Still, I agree there's definitely something captivating to these characters (all those curses were intriguing), and yeah, the tragic aspects are kind of funny (I mean, poor Apollo has been cursed three times ahahah)

✂🥄 In German, we say someone's "not the brightest candle on the cake", but I might switch out candles for spoons and forks now 😃

so true once upon a broken heart is actually so bad plot wise, character wise, substance wise... but the vibes?? whimsical. beautiful. magical. like it's so sad i wanted to love it but it's so empty. i mean the prophecy, the vampires, the way everything revolves around evangeline and she makes the dumbest decisions lmao...
