We have had so much buzz and excitement around the game in our local scene here in Colorado. So many exciting things happening and so much to look forward to for 2025!
One of the reasons they mentioned for moving the guardian mastery set was due to a new product that will release that time of year. They mentioned a title (which I forgot) but never said what the product is. JW mentioned it in rhe keynote at Worlds in Osaka
my only concern with the increase in product release (in regards to wallet fatigue) is the inclusion of precon exclusives. lss historically has been very bad at reprinting, over time i imagine these are going to impact the playerbase at large. while maybe you dont need to engage with brute now, maybe in 6 months things change and a precon staple like sash will become a problem
On the plus side, a single armory deck is less expensive than what I would ordinarily spend on packs in a given month. If we're only getting 2 draft sets in a year, then a reprint set dedicated to a talent/class and a bunch of precons to get people in sounds ideal to me. Maybe a promise to reprint armory deck exclusives no less than 1 year and no more than 2 years after initial printing? I agree those should be reprinted, but so far, armory deck exclusives have been waaaaaaay cheaper than the older equipment that holds 3 digit prices.
The discussion around the CC only PT was a good listen. I think that I totally agree with Hayden that they WONT change it to a CC only PT as much as i would personally want it. I dont know if i agree that we would be following players. the most objective way to look at how people tune in to watch FAB online is more of a self fish view (Which isnt a negative way, people want to watch what they like). I can follow a player much better by simply seeing them tweet their performance as they go. If they are playing online i can just wait until the "boring part of the event" is over then tune in (If you like CC/Limited just tune in on that part). Plus the coverage side can really only show off one or 2 games for that round. There is also a discussion around the casters also showing off players THEY know and really selling their story. I would personaly love to have a CC only PT as that is what i would like to view. I am also fully aware that having it a mix format does some really big benifits for LSS that ticks more boxes that we dont appritiate. Which is fine. I just skip it and then wait how my favourite players, teams, countires, regions do after they pop out of the limited washing machine. great episode, did hear some audio tears but i love listening to you guys so much i just ignored it. mailbag Q: Are you guys Blingers (foil degens I guess) ? Like to what extent would you bling out your main decks? Is it imporatant in terms of how it makes you feel when you spread out your PCG graded equipment in a major event like a Calling or Pro Tour?
Noting your comment on the success of world premieres, why not use the release of the guardian mastery set to host a world premiere + guardian only CC calling?
Some chuds on youtibe used LSS material in their video while also spewing hate, and so James White responded by denouncing them and suggesting they would review who gets to use their material in videos.
